Chapter 535: Chapter 530: Give an Inch, Take a Mile

“Do you think we should have a baby, too?”

“Pfft…”

Jiang Yan had just finished taking a shower and was lifting a cup of water to his lips when he unexpectedly heard Mu Jiawen say this and couldn’t help but spit out the water.

“Cough cough cough…”

Choking a bit, he coughed violently a few tis before he gradually cald down, wiped his mouth with a piece of paper, and turned his head to ask, “Didn’t we agree to consider this issue after graduating from graduate school? Why the sudden change of heart?”

After he finished, he seed to rember sothing and asked in surprise, “You’re not envious of Yang Dan’s pregnancy, are you?”

Mu Jiawen pouted, “That girl gained thirty pounds in four months of pregnancy. Would I envy her for gaining weight so fast?”

“Since it’s not because of that, then what is it because of?”

“Because… haven’t you always wanted to be a super dad? I thought I’d let you realize your dream sooner.”

Jiang Yan: …

“Thanks a lot,” he said.

“Don’t ntion it. Mainly, I’m worried you might get out of practice changing diapers if we don’t start early.”

He laughed in spite of himself, climbed into bed, pinched her face, and then rcilessly shattered her dream, “Getting Mom to agree to us getting our license early was already the limit. And you want to have a baby on top of that? Be good, we’ll do it after you graduate. Sleep!”

“You really won’t consider it?”

“I’ll consider it, in a couple of years.”

“…Alright then.”

Mu Jiawen temporarily gave up on the idea, after all, when it cos to having kids, she was scared too.

She was afraid of the pain.

The next morning, after breakfast, the couple packed their bags, bid farewell to Mu Chenyan, and set off for Yunzhou by car.

Around four in the afternoon, they got off the highway.

The hotel was pre-booked by Yu Hang, since it wasn’t just the two of them; Zhu Jin and Yu Hang’s college friends from out of town were also invited.

They checked in at the hotel first, then went to Yu Hang’s place to see the new house he had prepared for them.

On the road, Xiao Qi had already called several tis urging them, saying that many of their classmates were at Yu Hang’s new house, and told them to hurry over once they arrived.

Amidst the noisy sounds over the phone, Jiang Yan felt a headache coming on.

After hanging up, Yu Hang sent him a text ssage.

Mu Jiawen opened it and read aloud, “You damn better keep the marriage license safe; no need to bring it over for

to see.”

Jiang Yan: …

Without a doubt, it was the second brother who had tipped him off behind the scenes.

But Mu Jiawen, unaware of the competition between them, found Yu Hang’s ssage sowhat baffling, “Why wouldn’t he want to see our marriage certificate?”

Jiang Yan provided a fairly reasonable explanation, “Maybe he’s afraid of being outshone. After all, most people don’t look great on their ID photos, but ours is different, we look like stars. Who could compare?”

Mu Jiawen thought about it, nodded, “Makes sense.”

She even felt a little conflicted, “So is it really okay for

to be Zhu Jin’s bridesmaid? I shouldn’t outshine the bride, right?”

But that’s just the way her face was, even without makeup she could overshadow everyone else, attracting attention wherever she went. She was quite helpless about that.

“There’s nothing wrong with it. If I outshine Yu Hang, wouldn’t that be enough?” Though he might not be a head taller, he definitely had half a head on him.

Mu Jiawen gave him a side glance, feeling that what he said didn’t sound quite humane.

After checking in, the two left their luggage in the room and walked downstairs to Yu Hang’s house.

The hotel was conveniently located near his house, just a ten-minute walk away.

“Look over there, is that … Ma Zheng?”

On the side of the road opposite Yu Hang’s residential complex, a teenager about 1.7 ters tall, dressed in a black down jacket, coolly had his hands in his pockets, speaking impatiently to a girl.

Jiang Yan had hardly seen Ma Zheng for almost two years, and with the demands of study and work, he rarely had the ti or patience to call him.

So now, suddenly running into his step-brother, he really was a bit hesitant to recognize him.

After all, the last ti he’d seen him, he was just so small, not even reaching 1.5 ters tall, and now he was almost as tall as an adult.

He stared at the kid for a few seconds, then tried to call out, “Ma Zheng?”

The teenager, who was talking to the girl, heard soone call out and looked over disinterestedly, then suddenly his eyes widened and he started running over.

The girl standing opposite him did not know what had happened but, seeing him run, she followed and chased after him while shouting, “Ma Zheng, you can’t leave …”

Seeing this scene, Jiang Yan and Mu Jiawen exchanged glances, both raising their eyebrows simultaneously.

The kid was in love early?

“Brother …”

From the original roadside to where Jiang Yan was standing, it was at most fifty ters. Ma Zheng ran over panting, but his eyes were bright, and his voice revealed a hint of grievance, “Why didn’t you tell

when you ca back?”

Jiang Yan touched his nose, feeling slightly guilty, to be honest, if he hadn’t run into him here, he would have almost forgotten about Ma Zheng.

“I had plans with a classmate today, I thought I’d find you after I was done … your classmate is here.”

As he spoke, Jiang Yan nodded toward the girl who had been chasing Ma Zheng, who had now also run up close.

She was a clean and neatly dressed girl with a delicate appearance.

Ma Zheng looked back at the girl and his tone was extrely impatient, “Du Siqi can you give it a rest? I told you I’m busy, even if you stick to

like an adhesive plaster it’s useless, scram, scram!”

Being so bluntly dismissed to her face in front of others, the girl’s pretty face turned beet red.

“You, you … Wait, Ma Zheng, I’m telling the teacher when school starts.”

“Go ahead and tell, I don’t care.”

The girl huffily turned and ran off.

Jiang Yan couldn’t help but click his tongue, “Watch it, or you’ll end up a bachelor.”

“I don’t mind,” Ma Zheng replied with an air of indifference. “I never intended to find a wife anyway; girls are too troubleso.”

After speaking, he noticed Mu Jiawen looking at him, and quickly added with a smile, “My sister-in-law excepted.”

Jiang Yan snorted coldly. What a kiss-up!

“Go ho first, your sister-in-law and I are going to et up with so classmates.”

Ma Zheng was not pleased when he heard this, “You’re sending

away just after we’ve t? Can’t I join your classmate gathering?”

It wasn’t as if he hadn’t hung out with them before; besides, him being a kid, it wouldn’t affect anything, right?

But after saying this, he paused because he rembered that today they had agreed to go to their grandfather’s house, as it was their grandmother’s birthday.

“Brother, today …”

Before Ma Zheng could finish his sentence, Jiang Yan cut him off, “There are too many people today, it’s not suitable for you to join us. Go back ho, I’ll call you when I’m free.”

This statent wasn’t very persuasive; under normal circumstances, Ma Zheng would have insisted on going along, but today he just couldn’t—he had to go to his grandmother’s birthday as she was very fond of him.

He really wanted to ask his brother to co along, but the words would just not leave his lips.

He was fourteen now, no longer a little kid, and he understood sowhat why, when his mother divorced her forr husband, she had not taken his brother along, because their grandmother had objected.

Last ti, because of him, his brother had gone to their grandfather’s house, but he could tell he had not been happy. So, he couldn’t overstep his bounds and make things difficult for his brother….
