Chapter 511: Chapter 506 A Reasonable Explanation
“Fuck! In just a mont, Old Shen, did you fucking manage to do sothing big?”
Kou Chuan’s voice broke the silence of the room, and also snapped the confused Shen ngfei back to reality. His first reaction was to raise his hand to cover his neck.
Shit, when Xia Shi hugged , my brain just went blank, and I didn’t even react when my neck was kissed.
After all, it was the first ti in my life sothing like this had happened, so it wasn’t too much to feel a little excited, right?
But how did it leave a mark?
Was it because I’ve been showering too much lately and my skin has gotten tender?
“It’s on the left side; why are you covering the right?”
Mu Jiawen kindly reminded him, followed by a burst of laughter from the class, even Tang An couldn’t help but let out a laugh.
Shen ngfei’s face turned crimson with embarrassnt, and he simply lowered his hand and pulled up the collar of his shirt, but the mark was close to his chin and couldn’t be covered by the collar.
A few boys grabbed him and pushed him down into his chair, starting to press him about who had ‘planted the strawberry’ on his neck.
Shen ngfei looked around in panic, first glancing at the door, probably relieved to see Xia Shi hadn’t returned yet.
Then he turned his head to sneak a peek at Mu Jiawen.
The girl had a bright gleam in her eye and was smiling slyly as she said, “Xia Shi…”
Shen ngfei’s heart suddenly jumped to his throat, and he blurted out, “Xia Shi went to the bathroom, she’ll be back in a bit.”
A boy next to him looked at him with surprise, “How do you know?”
Shen ngfei blurted out without thinking, “I saw her. I ca out of the bathroom, and she went in.”
The classroom fell silent again.
Mu Jiawen had only intended to scare him a little and wasn’t planning to say much, but at this point, she was speechless at his attempt to cover up.
Old Shen, do you want to repeat what you just said?
Dude, did you forget that the boys’ and girls’ bathrooms are at opposite ends? Could it be that you two just went to the sa bathroom?
At that mont, Mu Jiawen wasn’t the only one thinking this; but the boys, being less attentive, didn’t dwell on Shen ngfei’s slip-up, even if they sensed sothing was off. After all, everyone knew the truth.
Even if Old Shen liked guys, there was no way he’d be into Xia Shi.
The only explanation was that he misspoke.
“No, what I ant was…”
“Got it. You ca out of the bathroom, and then saw her heading west… Okay, okay, don’t change the subject. Spill it, who planted that strawberry on your neck?”
Mu Jiawen cocked her head and watched the scene, unable to resist thinking to herself: What a bunch of blockheads!
While the classroom was in an uproar, Xia Shi, who had been gone for quite a while, finally returned.
Probably because she had cried earlier, she spent a long ti washing her face in the restroom, and when she entered the classroom, there were still droplets of water on her face.
Mu Jiawen turned to look at her, noting how different she was from four years ago at the start of school with short hair. Xia Shi had since grown her hair out and was wearing an elegant yellow long dress with a pair of silver leather sandals on her feet. From a distance, she exuded an air of graceful refinent.
In the past two years, her overbearing nature had been smoothed out, and her temper was very different from before. She didn’t talk as much, and actually beca more likable than she had been in the first year they started school.
Seeing Mu Jiawen sizing her up, Xia Shi’s face turned slightly red.
After hesitating for quite a while on the spot, she slowly made her way over to Mu Jiawen and sat down in the chair beside her.
“That… I’m sorry…”
Mu Jiawen turned to look at her, but didn’t say anything.
Xia Shi, with her head down, staring at her own feet, spoke softly, “I’ve been wanting to apologize to you for a long ti, but I couldn’t swallow my pride, nor could I find the right opportunity. I’m very sorry for the trouble I caused you in our freshman year. I’m now formally saying sorry to you.”
“Trouble is an understatent, but you were indeed quite domineering back then, and a bit inexplicable. So, have you co to realize sothing now?”
“Yeah, I’ve realized it. People have to learn to grow up; you can’t just age without gaining any sense. Reflecting on it,” Xia Shi sighed sentintally, “I was really spoiled by my family. Before going to college, I felt like I was amazing, that the world had to revolve around , and no one could be better than . It was only after starting college that I realized my intelligence was practically at the bottom here. Physics, oh, it dealt
a heavy blow.
Thank goodness I’ve finally graduated. I can now escape physics and focus on learning sothing else.”
“Learning sothing else?” Mu Jiawen looked at her, puzzled, “Did you change your major?”
“Yeah, I got into the Law program for graduate school at the School of Political Science and Law over there. Compared to physics, any other major is not hard for .”
Four years of studying physics was like a nightmare for Xia Shi. She barely managed to graduate thanks to a few classmates, especially Shen…
Thinking this, she couldn’t help but cast a glance toward Shen ngfei who was being held down by a few guys, being pressed for information about a strawberry mark.
Strawberry mark?
Xia Shi’s expression froze and, upon recalling sothing, her face flushed red.
Mu Jiawen looked at her curiously, leaned in closer, and whispered, “That guy is such a doofus, what do you even like about him?”
“Nonsense, he’s not stupid at all,” Xia Shi knew she had been caught in the act but did not deny it, instead letting out a sowhat sorrowful sigh, “What’s the use of being smart? It’s not as if he belongs to .”
Shen ngfei had rejected her and had made it very clear that he had no improper feelings for her; apart from classmates, they could not have any other relationship.
After all, she was a girl, and it took all her courage to confess to him. To be rejected so directly really hurt her feelings!
Saddened, she couldn’t help but hug him, cry her heart out to vent, then thought she couldn’t let her four years of college pass by so blandly. With a determined heart, she tiptoed and kissed him.
It was also her first ti having such close contact with the opposite sex. She had no experience, so her mind was in a fog during the kiss, and not very clear. Moreover, Shen ngfei was tall and did not bend down to accommodate her, so in the end, she didn’t manage to kiss his mouth, but only his neck.
But she hadn’t expected to leave a mark.
Seeing Shen ngfei being interrogated made Xia Shi feel guilty, but then Mu Jiawen’s next words washed away all her guilt.
“Ah, I get it now. Because he rejected you, you left a mark on his neck as revenge,” she finished, patting Xia Shi’s shoulder with an understanding gesture, “I’ve been there; I get it.”
Who’s been there?
What do you understand?
Xia Shi looked at her, completely baffled, trying to explain, “I didn’t an to get revenge on him, I…”
How to explain it?
As Xia Shi was racking her brain for an excuse, Mu Jiawen once again offered her ‘logical’ interpretation, “It’s the revenge of love, different from regular revenge. I understand.”
Are you sure you understand?
Xia Shi gave up. Whatever, think whatever you want.
“Alright, alright, everyone find a spot to stand or sit. We’re going to take a group photo in the classroom first then head downstairs later.”
Tang An stood on the podium, looking contentedly at the two girls whispering together and thought how difficult it had been. Nearing graduation, the two flowers of the class had finally reconciled.
