??Chapter 266: Chapter 263 Sothing’s Wrong

Chapter 266: Chapter 263 Sothing’s Wrong

“Why? Just because you have her now, is that it? Is she so great that you don’t even look at other girls anymore?”

As Jiang Yan was about to leave again, Weng Minhong couldn’t help but hiss in a low voice.

Jiang Yan felt she was not thinking straight tonight, probably from drinking. Her usual calm and rationality were completely gone.

Who is she freaking out at?

Not wanting to say more, Jiang Yan quickly walked away, leaving Weng Minhong alone, tears in her eyes as she muttered to herself softly, “I won’t fight with her for you, but at least give

a chance, even if it’s in secret… I’m willing… ”

She stood in the shadows for a long ti before slowly making her way back to the school.

Behind the entrance of the restaurant, Qi Lihong walked out, Weng Minhong’s scarf draped over her arm.

She stood at the door, silent for a mont as she watched Weng Minhong walk away, before turning back to the restaurant.

The restaurant where Mu Jiawen and her class were having their dinner wasn’t far from Jiang Yan, just a ten-minute walk away.

Before calling Mu Jiawen to co down, he first lowered his head to sniff his own arm. The sll of alcohol, food, smoke, and perfu were mixed together, quite unpleasant.

Jiang Yan took off his jacket and furiously shook it, wishing he could shed the outer layer of his down jacket.

After shaking it and putting it back on, he felt unsure, so he took a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and took a deep drag, then bent down to blow the smoke onto the arm that Weng Minhong had hugged.

The sll of smoke could be explained, but the fragrance of perfu would be disliked by the brat.

It wasn’t just her who would dislike it; he found it nauseating as well.

After blowing smoke twice, feeling it wasn’t enough, he took a third drag with the intention to blow again when suddenly a voice from behind him asked, “What are you doing?”

Startled, the smoke he was about to exhale went back down his throat, causing Jiang Yan to cough violently, “Cough, cough, cough…”

Mu Jiawen looked at him skeptically, her gaze finally settling on the cigarette in his right hand and then at his right arm, she asked, “Does your arm want a smoke too?”

Jiang Yan: …

After he finished coughing, he tossed the cigarette to the ground, crushed it, picked it up, and tossed it into a nearby trash can. Then he feigned calmness, patting nonexistent dust from his clothes.

After completing these unnecessary actions, he rembered to check if she had been drinking. After all, the girl was the sa whether she was drunk or sober unless she spoke.

“Have you been drinking?”

As Jiang Yan reached out to touch her face, she turned her head to dodge, “It stinks, go wash your hands.”

Without a second’s delay, Jiang Yan turned and entered the restaurant. Shortly after, he ca out with a disposable cup filled with warm water.

After washing his hands and drying them with a paper towel, he approached her and held his hand to her nose, “Does it still stink?”

Without waiting for her answer, he cupped her face with his hands and kissed her fiercely, “Naughty girl, always despising .”

After the kiss, Jiang Yan was sure, the girl hadn’t had any alcohol tonight.

The dinner with Mu Jiawen’s class was quite ta, mainly because it was full of academic stars from the physics departnt. Everyone was polite during the al, and even when drinking, they did not urge others to drink excessively, sticking to a limit.

As for the girls, no one encouraged them to drink, so didn’t even pour for them.

So, Mu Jiawen had orange juice for the evening.

On the way back, Mu Jiawen felt sothing was off. When they were almost back at their dormitory, she stopped, turned to face Jiang Yan, and squinted at him.

Jiang Yan’s heart skipped a beat, thinking he hadn’t gotten away with it. Could she still sll it?

“What’s wrong?”

“What’s wrong with your arm?”

“It’s fine, there’s nothing wrong with it.”

“Then why are you spraying smoke over it?”

“That’s… soone gave

a brand of cigarette I’ve never tried before, I just wanted to see what the smoke looked like.”

Mu Jiawen said doubtfully, “Aren’t they all the sa, what’s there to look at?”

Jiang Yan clicked his tongue, “How can they be the sa? Just like the sanitary pads you use, are different brands the sa? I’ve bought you two types, one with wings and one without wings, right?”

Mu Jiawen thought about it, tilted her head, and seed to agree with the logic.

With no further questions, she turned and entered the dorm building.

Seeing her go in, Jiang Yan let out a sigh of relief.

But then his frown returned. Weng Minhong’s behavior tonight was highly unusual. She knew he had a girlfriend and still insisted on coming on to him. Don’t say it was because she was drunk, sotis it’s the words spoken and actions taken while drunk that are the truest.

Yet he still had to work with her on class administrative tasks.

Jiang Yan no longer wanted to be the class leader.

The days after the start of school went by routinely. Jiang Yan ultimately did not resign as class leader, partly because Chi Zuo disagreed, and partly because the other students also didn’t agree. No one else but Jiang Yan commanded respect, so he had to continue in the role.

Because of his attempted resignation, Weng Minhong looked particularly sullen for the next few days. She knew clearly why Jiang Yan wanted to give up his class leader duties—it was to avoid any further contact with her.

Even though he didn’t resign in the end, Weng Minhong didn’t feel the slightest bit happy. She knew she had ssed things up, so afterwards, when there was no need, she no longer approached Jiang Yan; and during discussions, she could clearly sense Jiang Yan’s indifference towards her.

He adopted a strictly official tone throughout, no longer discussing matters with her but deciding unilaterally, telling her to just go and do it.

She knew, this was to shorten the ti they had to interact.

She truly couldn’t understand. That night she had thrown away her pride to chase after him, even if he didn’t want to consider her, shouldn’t he be less cold?

Yes, she might not compare to Mu Jiawen, but she wasn’t so bad that he couldn’t spare her a single glance, right?

Weng Minhong felt extrely defeated.

Qi Lihong still sat with Liu Wenhui at the back of the class every day. When she looked forward, her eyes would inadvertently sweep over Weng Minhong and Jiang Yan before they fell again, her thoughts unknown.

Very few girls in the class spoke to her. It wasn’t that everyone was ostracizing her; rather, her personality just didn’t fit in. Even in the dorm, she couldn’t join in the topics everyone else talked about, and of course, she didn’t want to.

Out of all these people, Weng Minhong was perhaps the only one who used to be willing to approach her proactively, but that was before. Now, because of being with Liu Wenhui, she was no longer willing to pay her any attention either.

She knew the things everyone said behind her back weren’t nice—they were just short of… calling her a prostitute.

At this thought, Qi Lihong smirked in self-mockery. To be a proud and dignified university student, who wouldn’t want that?

It might be easy for others, but for her it was as challenging as scaling a mountain.

Even without Liu Wenhui, her forr deaning jobs, being cursed at, and bullied by Wan Yuan, did she have any dignity then?

Compared to that, her current life was sothing she never even dared to dream of before. After all, which boy would, in the face of her dowdy and sallow complexion, not only accept her but also patiently feed her bit by bit?

This was the first boy, in her nineteen years, who had taken the initiative to care about her and treat her well.

So what was wrong with being with him?

She was more than willing!
