"That’s more like you, Jian Xi."
Si Yuhuan sat across from her, took a bite of the dish, and wiped his mouth. "It doesn’t taste very good. I’ll get you a new chef."
"Si Yuhuan! I’m talking to you about the child!"
Jian Xi couldn’t wait even another minute.
"How about this: the child can stay with you, just let see him to put my mind at ease, okay?"
Si Yuhuan coldly refused. "You don’t have the right to bargain with ."
Jian Xi was furious, clenching her fists tightly. She couldn’t lash out or turn hostile; the child was in his hands, and she was completely at his rcy.
"Fine."
Lacking the appetite to eat, Jian Xi just drank so soup.
To her surprise, when Si Yuhuan said he’d change chefs, he really did it. He brought in the fad Imperial Chef from a prominent Chinese restaurant, who, under a nutritionist’s guidance, prepared a variety of delicious dishes for her.
At ten o’clock in the evening, she watched as dish after dish was served.
Jian Xi couldn’t help but twitch the corners of her mouth. "Si Yuhuan, are you insane?"
"You didn’t eat much. Try these," he said, sowhat obstinately.
Reluctantly, Jian Xi sat down and ate one pregnancy-appropriate dish after another.
They were, undeniably, delicious. The Imperial Chef’s skills were truly top-notch.
"If you would give back my son, I’d be in a much better mood right now. I could even eat at a street stall and be beaming with joy."
As if he hadn’t heard her, Si Yuhuan directed the attendants, "Get a room."
As he spoke, he took off his coat, handed it to an attendant, and prepared to go wash up.
"Si Yuhuan! This is my postnatal care center! Who do you think you are, barging in here?"
Jian Xi was almost amused by his audacity. Give him an inch, and he’ll take a mile.
He turned around, his gaze burning. "Are you sure you want to leave?"
Before the words "Why wouldn’t I be sure?" could leave her mouth, Jian Xi thought, With him here, I’ll have a chance to get his phone, find out about the child’s whereabouts, and take my child back.
She imdiately took his coat for him. "You don’t have to leave. We haven’t seen each other for a while; we should indeed have a chat. If my current condition were suitable for drinking, I would definitely join Director Si for a drink to see how you managed such a miraculous coback from the gutter."
She was livid, gritting her teeth.
Si Yuhuan’s thin lips curved slightly, and he went inside.
Watching him go upstairs, Wan Yu quickly erged. "With the way you speak, aren’t you afraid he’ll take it out on my godson?"
Jian Xi sighed, feeling sowhat powerless. "No, he won’t. To threaten , he needs leverage, and he will treat your godson well. I miss my child so much."
Wan Yu stroked her head, concerned. "Xixi, you’re not suffering from postpartum depression, are you?"
Si Yuhuan happened to co back for his phone and overheard Wan Yu’s words.
Postpartum depression. he thought. What kind of man was Zhang Yaxuan to let her suffer like this!
That very night, Yan Qing sent up a load of nourishing supplents, along with so books and a few professional psychologists.
The group approached Jian Xi enthusiastically. "Miss Jian, this condition can be serious or minor, but please rest assured, leave it to us."
After saying this, they placed a stack of papers resembling exam sheets in front of Jian Xi, handed her a pen, and watched her respectfully.
"Hm?" Jian Xi was baffled.
The psychologist said, "Fill it out!"
Jian Xi was speechless.
Impatiently, she called Wan Yu. "Wan Yu! What are you up to!"
It was Wan Yu’s turn to be completely bewildered. "No, I’m still contacting doctors for you. They said all the top doctors in the country aren’t taking new patients. Did they all run off to you?"
Then, it dawned on her. "Did Si Yuhuan find them for you?" she asked. Grinding her teeth with anger, she continued, "This man must be sick! One minute he’s practically trying to kill you by giving you labor-inducing drugs and taking your child, and the next he’s treating you with utmost care. You should have a psychologist take a look at him!"
Jian Xi felt that Wan Yu was making a lot of sense.
She knocked on Si Yuhuan’s door. "Could you please do these questions?"
"Questions?" Si Yuhuan furrowed his eyebrows. He had never done such boring things, even as a student. Now they wanted him to answer questions? Were they trying to lower his IQ?
After looking through the docunts, his already grim face turned even darker. "What does this an?"
"Wan Yu and I both agree that you’re ntally unwell. You need to see a psychologist to treat your current pathological behavior."
SMACK. Si Yuhuan slamd the docunts onto the floor.
He stord off to find the psychologist.
"Changed your mind?" Jian Xi asked, following him to see what would happen.
She saw him, imperious even in his anger, scolding the psychologist. "If you want to do your job, put so thought into it. Is making the patient answer questions so kind of joke to you?"
"But Director Si..." the psychologist tried to explain.
Si Yuhuan raised his hand, not listening at all. "Use your brain."
With that, he tossed the folder into the trash can.
Another psychologist, a smarter one, went to chat with Jian Xi, her eyes craftily scanning Si Yuhuan. Just a mont ago, she found him very handso, but now, he seed like a grim reaper—absolutely terrifying. From her experience, Jian Xi held the highest status here. If she could please her, wealth would follow.
"Miss Jian," the psychologist began, "actually, there’s no need to avoid psychological problems. Our role is to help you resolve worries and provide strategies so you can live happily and look forward to the future with hope. In life, it’s inevitable to encounter many problems. We have to break through not only ourselves but also our fetters and bonds. Have you heard of ’Mad Literature’? I think it’s especially suited to your current situation."
Resolve worries and provide strategies? Mad Literature... Jian Xi thought.
She raised an eyebrow, sowhat interested. "You’re hired. Stay with ."
"Alright! My na is Huang Ying. I look forward to working with you."
Si Yuhuan, who had been busy typing out a scolding ssage to Yan Qing for finding such unreliable people, heard this and imdiately hit the delete key.
"Thanks, Director Si," Jian Xi said. "I’ll handle the expenses; no need for you to bother."
She was drawing a very clear line with him now, hardly willing to spend any of his money.
This left Si Yuhuan with the feeling of being a wealthy man with nowhere to spend his money, unsure of how to please a woman. He was supposed to be angry with her.
Clenching his fists, he said nothing, a grimace playing on his lips as he returned to his room.
Jian Xi imdiately dragged Huang Ying back to her room. "If you want to make happy, and for you to complete your work and earn a large sum of money, that’s easy too. Tell , how can I make a man completely obedient to ?"
"Seduce him."
COUGH, COUGH, COUGH— Jian Xi almost choked.
Huang Ying pursed her lips. "That man is your ex-husband, right?"
Jian Xi nodded.
"He won’t stop pestering you, and you want sothing he has, so you have to maintain so contact. Your current goal is to get what you want and then leave, right?"
"Smart!"
It had to be said, the psychologist was very skilled, able to deduce so much from just a few small clues.
"So, Miss Jian, do you want to help you... make Director Si listen to you and willingly hand over what you want?"
"Exactly!" A light shone in Jian Xi’s eyes.
"That’s unlikely," Huang Ying said with a bitter smile, shaking her head. Her short hair accentuated the gesture, making her look like a bobblehead.
"Why?" Jian Xi demanded, her anger flaring.
