They arrived at the old mansion.

Housekeeper Qi ca out to welco them personally. "Welco ho, Young Madam and Young Master. We heard Canglan Villa is undergoing renovations, and it couldn’t be better that you can stay with the Old Master for a while."

The gloom that had clouded Jian Xi all the way there was swept away by Housekeeper Qi’s words, and she almost laughed out loud. "Si Yuhuan said it’s being renovated?"

It was clearly just an excuse to make her sell everything off; now Canglan Villa was nothing but an empty shell.

If he hadn’t stopped her last ti, there would probably be no trace of them ever having used Canglan Villa left by now.

Si Yuhuan, his face dark, ca over and grabbed her hand, pulling her into the house. "Less nonsense."

That woman’s mouth... He really should seal it shut with tape when he had the chance.

Grandfather, seeing the two of them coming in hand in hand, leaned on his cane in delight, his face seemingly losing wrinkles. "Co over here. I’ve hired a new chef you’ll both like this ti, I guarantee it."

Jian Xi wasn’t picky about food, but Si Yuhuan was very particular.

Because of that, Jian Xi had spent a whole year learning to cook. The als she prepared were delicious and had been praised by many, but Si Yuhuan had never tried them. Even a single glance from him was considered a favor. In the end, it all went into Wan Yu’s stomach.

Thinking back on it now, it truly was a bitter mory.

She had given too much for so-called love. This lifeti, she only wanted to live for herself.

After her rebirth, she had never cooked again.

Her parents had raised her to be proficient in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, hoping she would be an elegant, graceful lady, a free and carefree princess. They hadn’t raised her to hide in the kitchen for a man, refusing to leave the house, spending her days as a housewife foolishly waiting for her husband’s return.

Braised pork ribs, deep-fried tenderloin, stir-fried beef, celery with lily bulbs, a stewed old duck soup, and a few refreshing side dishes were served.

It all looked truly appetizing.

"Si Yuhuan, serve Xixi so food!"

They had barely taken a few bites when Grandfather started ordering Si Yuhuan around.

He grudgingly picked up a few items with his chopsticks, soon piling Jian Xi’s bowl high.

"Are you feeding a pig?" Jian Xi was speechless. This was the first ti Si Yuhuan had ever served her food, and this is what it felt like? She wanted to hit him. Who puts cold dishes on top of deep-fried tenderloin?!

Who could love soone like this?

She really had no idea how Jiang Qing could stand his clueless, inattentive behavior.

Or perhaps, he only acted this way towards her.

Grandfather watched the two of them bicker with amusent.

Soon enough, Jian Xi moved the food he had piled into her bowl onto a separate plate and continued eating in small, delicate bites.

She ate with relish, not saying much throughout the al.

Si Yuhuan talked with Grandfather about his recuperation and so company matters. During their conversation, he served Jian Xi more food, this ti correctly placing it on the plate in front of her, even arranging it into distinct sections to preserve texture and taste.

Jian Xi looked up at him, sowhat surprised.

Had the sun risen in the west today?

He hadn’t used the matter with Si Junyan to make things difficult for her, and he even served her food? He was paying attention to these small details?

After all, he was soone she had once deeply loved. Even if it was now hate, the slightest thing he did could still stir emotions within her.

Jian Xi silently reminded herself a hundred tis how ruthless and heartless Si Yuhuan had been to her in her past life, and indeed, her emotions stabilized considerably.

After the al, Grandfather arranged for the two of them to stay in the sa room.

"Grandfather!" Jian Xi started to refuse, but Si Yuhuan interjected, "It’s getting cold. Have soone get us a thicker quilt for the bed."

Having said that, he glared at Jian Xi, his eyes conveying a strong threat.

Grandfather looked at Jian Xi.

Jian Xi curved her lips. "He knows so well."

"Ah, that’s good then. No problem. Housekeeper Qi, please arrange it." Grandfather was completely relieved.

Jian Xi felt that Si Yuhuan must have truly lost his mind today.

Wasn’t he the one who detested sharing a room with her the most?

Before long, Housekeeper Qi brought the thick quilt and didn’t forget to remind Jian Xi and Si Yuhuan to drink the soup.

The last incident was still vivid in her mory!

How could she dare?

Having her self-esteem trampled once was enough; she still had her pride.

This ti, the soup was left untouched; she didn’t even glance at it. When Si Yuhuan reached for it, she stopped him. "Hey, I’m warning you, don’t co near after you drink that. I’m a germaphobe; I don’t want anything second-hand."

Si Yuhuan felt an urge to strangle her.

"What on earth is going on in that head of yours?"

With that, he tossed the soup aside.

The contents splashed out, and Jian Xi then saw it was just ordinary ginseng chicken soup, ant for nourishnt, with no special aphrodisiac effects. It seed she had overthought things.

"Sorry."

Jian Xi, however, felt not the slightest bit of guilt and began to undress in front of Si Yuhuan, preparing to take a bath.

Si Yuhuan looked up to see she was already down to her lingerie, and a rush of heat surged through him.

"Have you no sense of sha?"

Jian Xi glanced back at him indifferently and continued undressing. "Since you’re not interested in anyway, and we’re practically like brothers, don’t act all shy. Are you trying to play the innocent, pure little boy?"

"Vulgar!"

Si Yuhuan was shocked. He hadn’t expected Jian Xi to change so drastically.

Gone was the gentle, virtuous, easily embarrassed girl who would blush at a re glance from him. Now, she was... a hooligan!

"If you want to hear sweet nothings, go find Jiang Qing! She can not only say them but also listen well. Who knows, she might even put on a little show for you!"

"Jian Xi!"

Si Yuhuan was thoroughly enraged.

BANG! The bathroom door slamd shut.

Jian Xi went to enjoy her relaxing bath.

She took out her phone. There were countless ssages from Chu Xiao, all lanting his incompetence and apologizing, swearing that she should wait for him, that he would soon inherit the family business and beco her knight in shining armor.

That Little Naigou certainly had a way with words, made even more touching by their sincerity.

Years ago, many had professed their true feelings to her, saying things that could touch one’s heart. Yet, she had been unshakeable in her affection for Si Yuhuan, determined with a love that wouldn’t change even if mountains crumbled and the earth split.

Thinking about it now, she truly was an idiot.

After splashing so cold water on her face, Jian Xi replied to his ssage: "Do whatever you want; follow your heart. There’s no need to change for . I’ve told you, we’re not suitable for each other."

She had made herself very clear. Surely he wouldn’t keep obsessing over this now, right?

Jian Xi already regretted it. She shouldn’t have carelessly flirted with the Little Naigou. It was so troubleso when they took things seriously.

Sure enough, the next second, Chu Xiao called.

Jian Xi hesitated for a mont, then answered.

"What’s up, little brother?" she asked with a lighthearted laugh, as if the life-or-death mont that had just occurred had never happened.

Chu Xiao vowed earnestly, "Wait for . I will beco your support. The mont you divorce, I’ll marry you."

PFFT! Jian Xi couldn’t help but laugh. "Have you been brainwashed by Wan Yu?"

She was certain her best friend was up to no good. Otherwise, how could such an innocent Little Naigou co up with a dramatic plot like inheriting the family business to compete with Si Yuhuan for her?

That was so tacky and utterly lodramatic!

"Sis, no matter whose idea it was, I’ve already made up my mind. Will you wait for ? You once said I was number one!"

Jian Xi suddenly rembered she had once said jokingly, "If I get divorced, you’re number one in line."

BANG BANG BANG— There was a pounding at the door.

"Jian Xi, co out!" Si Yuhuan’s voice was anything but gentle.

Chu Xiao imdiately tensed. "Sis, he won’t do anything to you, will he?"

She could hear the genuine concern in his voice.

"We’re husband and wife. What can he do to ? Obviously, what a husband and wife should do."

She hung up the phone to deal with Si Yuhuan, not giving Chu Xiao the slightest chance.

Putting on her bathrobe, Jian Xi opened the door.
