Thinking of the past, Jiang Qing raised her palm and fiercely slapped it towards Jian Xi’s face.
Jian Xi stepped back, and Jiang Qing’s hand swiped at empty air.
Ferocity shone in Jiang Qing’s eyes.
"What’s the matter? Missed and now you want to bite soone?" Jian Xi sneered. She pushed Jiang Qing aside, intending to leave, not wanting to stoop to the level of an "animal." Unexpectedly, Jiang Qing ruthlessly grabbed a nearby decorative vase and smashed it toward Jian Xi’s head.
Seeing Jiang Qing’s reflection in the clear glass ahead, Jian Xi ducked and retreated several steps. She grabbed Jiang Qing’s neck and forcefully slamd her onto the table. With a series of clinks and clatters, the vase shattered on the ground.
"AH—!"
The skin on Jiang Qing’s back was pierced. She scread shrilly, her eyes almost bulging out.
Jiang Qing’s friends were terrified and huddled together.
Jian Xi’s eyes swept over everyone. "You all saw it," she stated. "She attempted murder first. I was rely retaliating."
"Jian Xi, I’ll kill you!"
"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH—"
Jian Xi tightened her grip. Jiang Qing didn’t even have the strength to move.
"Did you really think I was still that naive rookie you could bully? Before you try to harm , why don’t you use your brain and rember what I do for a living? Jiang Qing, for attempted murder, you’re finished."
After leaving those harsh words, Jian Xi departed.
Jiang Qing struggled to her feet, her legs trembling, and exploded with rage. "Jian Xi, I won’t let you get away with this!"
Her group of friends hurriedly made excuses and dispersed.
They couldn’t afford to provoke Jiang Qing, but Jian Xi was even more formidable!
She wouldn’t really send Jiang Qing to jail, would she?
Jiang Qing was scared too.
She hurriedly called Si Junyan.
"Junyan, save ! I just ran into Jian Xi at the restaurant. She insulted , and I couldn’t stop myself from hitting her. She said she’s going to sue until I’m locked up for good! Am I really going to jail?"
She believed in Jian Xi’s capabilities. But she trusted Si Junyan, who was now all-powerful, even more.
"First, destroy the hotel’s surveillance footage. I’ll silence everyone who saw you hit her today. Jian Xi likes to sue people, doesn’t she? This ti, I’ll make sure she can’t get away with a thing."
Jiang Qing was overjoyed.
"Okay, I’ll do as you say. Junyan, you’re truly capable!"
Flattered by the praise, Si Junyan felt a little giddy, savoring the omnipotence his power afforded him. "Don’t worry, Dream Sister," he cooed. "With around, you have nothing to fear."
Xiaoli brought in coffee. Hearing Si Junyan still flattering Jiang Qing, she was so enraged she nearly crushed the tray in her hands. But she managed to restrain herself. Obediently, she knelt and offered the coffee to Si Junyan, then teasingly nestled her head against his trouser leg.
Si Junyan quite enjoyed her coquettishness. Raising an eyebrow, he pressed her down firmly and humd in enjoynt, his eyes closed.
Hearing the strange noise, alarm bells went off in Jiang Qing’s mind. "Junyan, what are you doing?"
"SST—"
Xiaoli had been too forceful, making him gasp involuntarily. "I’m, uh, not in the office. Just getting a foot massage. I’ve been so tired lately."
So that was it.
Jiang Qing let out a sigh of relief and cooed spoiledly, "Then tonight, I’ll cook a feast to reward our great hero."
"Good."
Reluctantly ending the call, Si Junyan felt his heart soften.
Suddenly losing interest in flirting with Secretary Li, he pushed her away, stood up, and straightened his trousers. "Get out."
Secretary Li clenched her teeth in resentnt but maintained a pleasing smile. "Alright. Call if you need anything else."
After speaking, she didn’t forget to give Si Junyan’s "little brother" a flirtatious stroke before turning and sashaying away, her slender waist swaying.
So brazen.
Si Junyan wiped the corner of his lips. First, I’ll take care of Jian Xi, and then I’ll have my way with you.
***
Jian Xi had just reached the doorstep of the Jian Family Old House when she sneezed.
Jian’s Mother ca out from inside, fussing over her as she dragged her in. "Are you catching a cold?"
"Not at all!"
Jian Xi rubbed her nose. "Where’s Big Brother?"
"He’s busy at the company. Let’s not bother him."
Just then, the phone rang. The servant announced it was the Second Young Master.
Jian Chuxin was passionate and free-spirited. Having already clinched the Grand Slam for Best Actor, he wasn’t content with rely being an actor. He had invested in countless industries and was thriving overseas, so busy he was rarely seen. Jian’s Mother usually couldn’t even get ahold of him, so for him to call proactively today was unusual.
"Is Little Sister ho?"
As Jian’s Mother picked up the phone, she was about to complain and tell her second son to be more considerate. But when he asked that, her face fell. "Do you only care about your Little Sister? What about your old mom?"
Jian Chuxin gave a wry smile. "Mom, we haven’t been separated that long. I was just with you in W Country shopping for bags. All those luxury goods..."
"Alright, alright, I forgive you! Xixi, co here. Your Second Brother is looking for you."
Jian’s Mother hurriedly changed the subject and passed the phone to Jian Xi.
"Hello, Second Brother? What’s up?" Jian Xi pouted coquettishly, thinking it had been three years since she’d last seen her incredibly busy Second Brother.
Hearing his sister’s voice, Jian Chuxin felt his heart lt. "I heard Du Mingrui has been causing you trouble? And that Bing Xin almost got you? How could you let people bully you like this when your Second Brother isn’t around? Is Big Brother of any use at all?"
"I wouldn’t dare say that." Jian Xi covered the phone so her mother wouldn’t overhear; she would definitely tattle. If Big Brother found out Second Brother was mocking him like this, the scene that would unfold... TSK, TSK! I don’t even dare to imagine it.
"Well, that’s true. Big Brother’s grim face is pretty intimidating." Though Jian Chuxin was abroad, his gossip-loving heart had already flown back to China. "Is Si Yuhuan really crippled, or is it just an act? It’s not just in China; it’s the hot topic even over here. Everyone’s treating it as pri gossip material."
"I bet your film crew is gossiping while working on a new show, and you made a bet with soone, so now you want to dig up information for you, right?"
"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH!" Jian Chuxin was embarrassed. "Nonsense! Am I that kind of person?"
Now it was his turn to change the subject. "Those shaless bastards, always picking on the honest ones to bully. Just wait until I get back; I’ll skin them alive!"
Even after Jian Chuxin had hung up, Jian Xi stood there looking dazed. Jian’s Mother went over and tapped her. "What happened?"
"Mom, pinch ! Second Brother said he’s coming back!"
The Jian Family Old House instantly erupted.
Jian Chuxin was coming back! The superstar movie emperor was coming back!
The servants instantly perked up, working with frenetic energy, as if injected with chicken blood—ten tis harder than usual.
Jian’s Mother sighed. "The power of fans is truly terrifying."
Jian Xi gave a wry smile.
Mom really hasn’t seen Second Brother’s charm. She’ll probably be dumbstruck when she does. Hopefully, Second Brother won’t return on the day of my court hearing; otherwise, I won’t even get the chance to pick him up.
Perhaps because she knew her Second Brother was coming back, Jian Xi felt relaxed after washing up. Lying in bed, she fell asleep before she knew it.
「In the middle of the night.」
The door creaked open.
She startled awake and opened her eyes to see a dark figure slipping inside.
