SMACK!
Jian Xi slapped his face.
Si Yuhuan’s handso face bore the imprint of five fingers. His tongue lightly touched his numbing left cheek as he sneered, a cold gleam bursting from the glossy darkness of his eyes.
This little woman, she’s now a wild cat with sharp claws!
Jian Xi froze for a mont, a wave of fear washing over her at her own audacity. But what was done, was done. She straightened her spine. "You had it coming. Now, get lost."
Si Yuhuan’s large, well-defined hand suddenly gripped her petite face. He leaned in, his low, husky voice whispering devilishly in her ear, "You provoked first. Thinking of making leave now? It’s too late."
With that, his thin lips fiercely pressed against hers.
His kiss was scorching, as if carrying surging fury—dominating and forceful.
He raised his arms, effortlessly lifting her and setting her on the coffee table.
The coldness of the surface against her skin made Jian Xi’s eyes widen abruptly, and she struggled with all her might.
Si Yuhuan, however, showed no concern for her feelings, continuing to delve deeper, as if to unearth all her beauty.
Jian Xi bit down hard, her mouth instantly filling with the tallic taste of blood.
Si Yuhuan furrowed his brows and released her, glaring angrily with a sharp gaze that seed to kill.
Seeing his extrely complex expression, Jian Xi couldn’t calm her racing heart for a long ti.
She couldn’t understand Si Yuhuan’s recent series of actions.
Is he going crazy? Or is he serious?
"Despicable!"
She angrily pushed the man outside. "If you continue to anger , either your wounds will reopen, or I’ll suffer a hemorrhage!"
She had expected him to say, "What does your life or death have to do with ?"
Surprisingly, Si Yuhuan actually allowed her to push him out.
Once the door was closed, Jian Xi felt a surge of self-admiration.
Faced with a man she once deeply loved, to say his kiss hadn’t affected her at all would be a stubborn lie. She was rather impressed with herself for maintaining composure and rationality in the face of temptation. Jian Xi, you’ve finally grown up.
But that night, she lay awake for a long ti.
「The next morning」
The hourly maid, Auntie Zhang, ca over to clean Jian Xi’s room.
She was diligent and also managed the cleaning of Jian Xi’s entire Louwang, keeping a tight rein on the young nanny dispatched by Jiang Qing. Jian Xi trusted her.
Seeing Jian Xi still in bed, Auntie Zhang ca in to draw the curtains. "Miss Jian, get up quickly! The weather is splendid today; so sunshine will do you good."
Waking up groggily, Jian Xi realized she was running a fever and felt ill.
After a few coughs, Auntie Zhang imdiately noticed sothing was amiss. She quickly approached, touched Jian Xi’s forehead, and exclaid in alarm, "You’re burning up!"
Jian Xi, vexed, said, "Auntie Zhang, please take to the hospital."
She didn’t even have the strength to walk now. The children in her womb were her greatest concern.
"Alright, alright, I’ll take you to the hospital right away." Auntie Zhang sighed. "You should take better care of yourself. I’ve heard this flu is quite severe. Rember to wear a mask when you go out next ti. My daughter-in-law is pregnant, and she’s still in the hospital to prevent a miscarriage because she caught a cold!"
Upon hearing this, Jian Xi grew even more nervous. "Hurry, let’s go."
Auntie Zhang laughed. "You’re not pregnant, no need to be scared."
Jian Xi: "..."
She practically flew towards the door, Auntie Zhang hurrying closely behind. "Miss Jian, why are you rushing so?"
As the door opened, Jian Xi felt a wave of dizziness and nearly stumbled.
A long arm reached out, encircling her.
The pleasant, dewy scent of the man caught her by surprise. Lifting her eyes, she saw Si Yuhuan’s captivatingly handso face.
"You! Why are you here?" Jian Xi was panic-stricken.
She belatedly realized—could this man not have left? Had he stayed downstairs all night?
Just then, Auntie Zhang rushed out. "Miss Jian, could it be that you’re pregnant?"
Her words trailed off as she locked eyes with Si Yuhuan’s stern face.
Si Yuhuan’s icy gaze bore into Jian Xi, his intimidating, cold eyes bloodshot.
Jian Xi pursed her lips, her heart pounding fiercely.
"Jian Xi, are you pregnant?" Si Yuhuan asked.
Jian Xi swallowed hard and quickly pushed him away. "Auntie Zhang, what are you talking about? Cough, cough, cough—"
She used her coughing to mask her inner panic.
Oh no. Si Yuhuan couldn’t have figured sothing out, could he?
Jian Xi’s body felt even weaker from nerves.
The man suddenly scooped her up by the waist.
"Si Yuhuan, what are you doing?" Jian Xi felt every nerve in her body tighten like a strung wire.
He scoffed coldly. "Aren’t you sick with a cold? We might as well check if you’re pregnant too."
Jian Xi was furious. "You jerk! Why are you hanging around downstairs at my place? Get lost!"
Si Yuhuan stuffed her into the car and turned to Auntie Zhang, instructing, "I’ll accompany her to the hospital. That will be all."
Auntie Zhang stood rooted to the spot, watching the car roar away. "Did I say sothing wrong?" she muttered.
To prevent Jian Xi from deceiving him, Si Yuhuan intentionally took her to a small hospital.
Jian Xi was forcibly carried by Si Yuhuan into the ergency room.
To the doctor inside, he said, "She has a cold. Also, check if she’s pregnant."
The doctor, faced with Si Yuhuan’s imposing manner, felt as if the man was there to start a fight.
Jian Xi gritted her teeth. Unable to refuse, she had to accept.
Her eyes darted around before she pushed Si Yuhuan. "Get out."
"A pregnancy check doesn’t require to leave." His stance was firm, his presence powerful and intimidating.
Jian Xi appealed to the doctor, who coughed and said, "It would be better for the gentleman to step outside."
"Troubleso." However reluctant Si Yuhuan was, with the nurse and doctor present, he found it awkward to refuse. He left a threatening warning before departing, "Examine her thoroughly."
The nurse, who had initially been starry-eyed, found her admiration instantly dissipated by his unfriendly deanor. "Miss, your husband seems to have quite a temper."
"BOO HOO HOO..." Jian Xi burst into tears.
The doctor and nurse were startled. "Take your ti. Tell us what happened."
Jian Xi began her performance. "He’s not my husband; he’s my ex-husband. We’ve been divorced for a long ti. He keeps trying to force to have his child, but I already have a boyfriend, and I’m pregnant with my boyfriend’s child. We’re planning to get married! Now he’s shown up, threatening , saying I have to give him a child as compensation, or he’ll kill ! I’m so scared!"
She cried so convincingly that the nurse and doctor couldn’t help but curse Si Yuhuan as a scoundrel in disguise.
"There, there, don’t worry," the doctor said. "We’ll help you deal with such a heartless, shaless man who resorts to coercing won."
The ergency room door opened.
Si Yuhuan strode forward. "Is she pregnant?"
The doctor struggled to contain his anger, hiding the disdain in his eyes as he said emotionlessly, "She’s had a major hemorrhage, and her uterus is damaged. How could she possibly be pregnant? Are you obsessed with having a child?"
With that, he stalked off.
A humorless laugh escaped Si Yuhuan. This small place is full of odd characters. Do they even know who I am? Such terrible attitude!
Jian Xi covered her mouth, struggling to suppress her laughter. She erged from the room, her face a mask of feigned disappointnt, tears still clinging to her lashes, and her eyes puffy from her act.
"Si Yuhuan, you scoundrel! Making face this truth is so upsetting!"
