Jian Xi’s lips curled into a smirk, her arms crossed over her chest as she provocatively looked at Jiang Qing. "Why does it seem like Miss Jiang isn’t familiar with her own voice?"
Jiang Qing wanted to smash her phone, but Jian Xi spoke unhurriedly, "Go ahead and smash it. I have many backups of this recording anyway. Everyone here just heard it clearly. Miss Jiang, the ’dead old man’ you ntioned—who is he?"
"Enough!" Si Yuhuan coldly interrupted. He gave Jiang Qing a deep glare. "Continue with the eting."
Jiang Qing fled in panic.
What should I do? Had Si Yuhuan picked up on sothing? It was all that damn Jian Xi’s fault! I really want to kill her! Where did this recording co from? When did she start recording?
Jiang Qing’s mind was in chaos; she had no idea how much incriminating evidence Jian Xi held against her.
All the senior managent wisely chose not to inquire further, acting as if nothing had happened. However, everyone understood the underlying situation.
This was precisely the effect Jian Xi wanted. She was determined to clip Jiang Qing’s wings just when she was at her most smug, taphorically severing that tail of hers that was almost wagging up to the heavens.
Jian Xi, with a sneer, sat inside, bored and idly playing with her phone. She rather admired Si Yuhuan; despite clearly knowing sothing was amiss, he managed to remain composed and continue the eting for over an hour before dismissing the executives.
One had to admit, the success of certain individuals was no accident. Jian Xi found herself genuinely impressed.
After everyone had left, BANG!
Si Yuhuan slamd the docunts onto the table, his hands on his hips, his mood clearly explosive.
Jian Xi started to get up, ready to leave; she had no desire to beco his target.
"Stop right there."
Si Yuhuan leaned on the table, his eyes bloodshot.
Jian Xi shrugged. "It was your precious ’moonlight’ who provoked , forcing to play that recording. Is Director Si so angry because he’s discovered his beloved ’moonlight’ is two-faced? Are you disappointed and now want to take it out on ?"
She added, "Well, I’m sorry, but I haven’t been a punching bag for a long ti."
As she tried to leave, a large hand grabbed her elbow from behind, forcefully pinning her against the wall as he pressed his body against hers. "Do you only find joy in exposing the Si Family’s dirty laundry in public, making a laughingstock?"
"Si Yuhuan, you’re insane! Let go of !" Jian Xi struggled to push him away, but Si Yuhuan pinned her firmly, leaving her no chance to resist. So, she stopped moving. "You can’t do anything about Jiang Qing, so you take it out on by getting rough? Real classy of you. If you have the guts, then kill . Hmph."
Jian Xi turned her face away, her eyelids slightly lowered, her long eyelashes casting a somber silhouette.
Si Yuhuan knew he was being sowhat irrational. This matter had nothing to do with Jian Xi; if not for her, he would still be in the dark. He couldn’t accept that the kind and gentle Jiang Qing harbored such strong resentnt towards his grandfather. He gradually released his hold on Jian Xi’s arms.
Jian Xi broke free and rubbed her sore wrist. "Si Yuhuan, do you really believe that woman? She accompanied Si Junyan to see Grandfather. She claims she said nothing and did nothing, yet Grandfather—who doctors always said was in excellent health—suddenly suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and a heart attack, ending up in a vegetative state?"
"That’s absolutely impossible." Si Yuhuan grew tense, suspicion dawning on him.
Jian Xi was about to say more when Yan Qing failed to stop Jiang Qing, who rushed in frantically, wailing hoarsely, "Yuhan, you have to listen to my explanation!"
Layers of ice seed to form in Si Yuhuan’s eyes. "Speak."
Jian Xi crossed her arms, watching Jiang Qing’s performance.
Jiang Qing shot her a vicious glare, then continued, "The ’dead old man’ I was talking about was Dr. Sernosen. He abused ! He injected with far too many drugs—more than any human could bear. Look at ! I’m covered in wounds. I was so terrified, I couldn’t help but tremble every ti before going. But thinking of Grandfather, I had to grit my teeth and go. I... I didn’t an to curse. Who knew where Jian Xi was recording from? What kind of malicious intentions does she have!"
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
Jian Xi couldn’t help but applaud. "What crafty sophistry! I’ve just realized, Miss Jiang, you’re truly wasting your talents by not being a lawyer."
"Jian Xi, what do you an by that? Will you only be satisfied once you’ve stirred up enough trouble to make Yuhan angry with ?"
Jiang Qing had just used her connections to check the recording on Jian Xi’s phone. Most of it was garbled, except for that one crystal-clear sentence: "That damn old man is so troubleso." Figuring Jian Xi had no other evidence, Jiang Qing stubbornly denied cursing their grandfather, confident that Jian Xi could do nothing to her.
"Jiang Qing, do I need to present so concrete evidence before you decide to be honest?"
Jiang Qing’s heart pounded; she couldn’t be certain that Jian Xi didn’t have other incriminating evidence.
Si Yuhuan’s gaze shifted between the two won.
Jian Xi smiled faintly. "I was just kidding."
Jiang Qing silently breathed a sigh of relief and then, emboldened, pressed her advantage. "Jian Xi, you’re shaless! Slandering in front of so many people! Yuhan, you have to stand up for !"
Jian Xi put away her phone and gave Si Yuhuan a long, aningful look. "Director Si, take care."
Her words carried a hidden warning.
Jiang Qing continued to pester Si Yuhuan, demanding he stand up for her. He flung her arm away, suddenly feeling an inexplicable wave of revulsion towards the woman before him.
"Yuhan..."
"That’s enough." Si Yuhuan’s patience had worn thin.
After leaving the office, he instructed Yan Qing, "Have Si Junyan co see ."
Jian Xi’s words had forced him to start doubting Jiang Qing.
Inside the office, Jiang Qing collapsed into her chair as if all strength had left her. Thank heavens, thank heavens Jian Xi doesn’t have any other leverage. Otherwise, I would have been finished today.
Suddenly, she rembered the gardener, Zhang Tie.
She hurriedly called one of her subordinates.
"What? He’s left the country and disappeared?"
Jiang Qing, flustered and exasperated, wasn’t sure if this was good news or bad. "No matter what, find his whereabouts! I need to see him alive, or his body if he’s dead!"
She had an ominous premonition.
"Miss Jiang, don’t worry," her subordinate said. "He didn’t et with anyone before leaving the country. What is there to be afraid of?"
"Fine."
As long as Zhang Tie hasn’t been discovered, it should be alright.
Si Junyan was unexpectedly summoned. Thinking his older brother had finally had a change of heart, he rushed into the bathroom to wash up properly and erged wearing a smart suit.
These past few days, Jian Xi had been a constant thorn in his side, provoking him to the point where he’d almost given up on himself.
Jian Xi, just you wait! If I get back into Haohan Group, I’ll make damn sure to teach you a lesson for Sister ng!
Yan Qing urged from outside, "Second Young Master Si, please hurry. The Boss is waiting."
"Coming!" he called out.
His phone rang. It was Jiang Qing. Without a second thought, he answered, eager to share the good news.
"Sister ng, Big Brother wants to see !"
A cold shiver ran down Jiang Qing’s spine. "What? Si Yuhuan wants to see you?"
Si Junyan, oblivious to the gravity of the situation, was jubilant. "Looks like the worst is over! He’s probably going to let back into Haohan Group."
"Junyan! You can’t go!" Jiang Qing hissed, her voice low and agitated.
Si Junyan was stunned. "Sister ng? What’s wrong?"
He realized this wasn’t a simple matter.
Jiang Qing lowered her voice, trying to scare him. "You angered Grandfather so much he fainted! Si Yuhuan just listened to Jian Xi’s slander and is planning to hold you accountable!"
Si Junyan was instantly terrified.
