Chapter 69: Chapter 69 Milk Powder Scandal (Part 1) Chapter 69: Chapter 69 Milk Powder Scandal (Part 1) Even in sumr, the night wind in the mountain forest still carried a chill. Lu Yun guessed the sizes of her father and Shitou and took out two n’s denim vests for them to wear.
As for herself and her mother, they chose a set of large and small, sa-style bright red silk scarves. Her mother draped the scarf over her shoulders and imdiately caught Aiguo’s eager gaze, his eyes as fervent as when he had seen the cold weapons that Lu Yun had taken out earlier.
It only took a few minutes to reach the spot her father had deed suitable for an overnight stay—it was actually an L-shaped enclosure ford by two cliff faces with a spacious clearing in front. A large pile of branches and deadwood had already been stacked in front of the cliff wall, collected in turns by Aiguo and Shitou.
“We’ll have to make do for the night,” Aiguo said, surveying the surroundings though not entirely satisfied in his heart. He was worried about wolves in the mountain forest at night; this place was the best location he and Shitou could find nearby.
Aiguo and Shitou would take turns keeping watch at night, with a campfire lit and so minor fortifications; as long as they closely watched the two open sides, and considering the weapons and dicine they had, there shouldn’t be any major problems for the night.
“This place isn’t bad,” Lu Yun looked around and quickly guessed their intentions. However, she had more suitable equipnt for an overnight stay in her space. Considering the possibility of an apocalypse, she would naturally prepare everything necessary for living and traveling in an RV.
In fact, she didn’t just prepare; she had more than one RV. Just for RVs, she had seven or eight of various sizes and specifications.
Lu Yun gestured for everyone to step back as a huge white RV, with a sowhat modest exterior, appeared before them.
“We’ll stay in this RV tonight,” Lu Yun said as she opened the door, inviting everyone aboard, “It has two levels. On the bottom, there are four rooms and a living room, along with a kitchen and bathroom. Upstairs there’s a warehouse. Mom and Dad will take one room, and Shitou and I each get our own room.”
Lu Yun led Aiguo, Xia Yuan, and Shitou through each room of the RV, giving them a tour and explanation of the entire vehicle.
All four rooms in the RV were the sa size, with the sa layout: each contained a two-ter bed with a bedside table, a walk-in closet, and a set comprising a desk and chairs.
The living room was even more spacious and luxurious than the bedrooms, serving both living and dining functions, equipped with a large-screen LCD TV, a set of genuine leather sofas, and a moderately sized, white, carved round dining table with six matching high-back dining chairs.
The kitchen counter was fully stocked with all kinds of kitchenware and seasoning. The double-door fridge was packed full to the brim.
Not to ntion the second level of the RV, used as a storage, was filled with various supplies.
The RV offered a total living area close to two hundred square ters.
All three were full of astonishnt after the tour; this vehicle was like a house. No, it was more comfortable than a house. It truly lived up to its na as an RV—a mobile ho.
“If we traveled in this vehicle, it would be more comfortable than staying at ho!” Aiguo exclaid, looking puzzled at Lu Yun, “How did you co up with turning a vehicle into this? What’s the origin of your ‘big warehouse?’ How co you seem so familiar with everything inside?”
It was as if she had used them many tis before, extraordinarily familiar.
“I don’t know either? I just feel really familiar with everything in my big warehouse,” Lu Yun could only respond with a silly smile to Aiguo.
“That makes sense. Why would the ‘big warehouse’ follow anyone else? It has to be Xiaoyun,” Shitou offered his support from the side.
“Right, if this thing just appeared out of nowhere, how could you possibly know why? So, feeling a sense of familiarity is normal too,” Lu Aiguo reasoned to himself after thinking Shitou made a lot of sense. He then continued to make excuses for Lu Yun in a muttered soliloquy.
Xia Yuan nodded along, looking reproachfully at Lu Aiguo, “The very fact that a large warehouse can pop up out of thin air is beyond normal reasoning. Given that, what’s so strange about having so odd and exotic things inside? You’re overthinking it.”
Lu Aiguo chuckled rrily, “Xiaoyun, you sleep in the sa room as your mom tonight. Shitou and I will take turns keeping watch outside; just the two of us in one room is enough.”
“Dad, you don’t really need to keep watch.”
Despite the RV’s unremarkable exterior, its security system is remarkably robust.
Having been crafted for an apocalypse, how could it not be thoroughly considered?
All her vehicles had originally been taken to an isolated island by TPY, where she had hired top experts from around the world and spared no expense to modify them.
Besides the vehicle’s shell being strong enough to withstand attacks by incredibly powerful weapons, it also had warning lights that would activate in an ergency.
Even more impressive was the vehicle’s body shell, which could instantly emit a strong electric current. The intensity of the electrical discharge, which could be set to high, dium, or low, was controllable, with the highest setting powerful enough to kill anyone with malicious intent who ca too close.
The engine’s power was undeniable, and the tires were custom-made, allowing the vehicle to keep moving even if they were blown out…
Even state leaders’ vehicles don’t have a better safety factor. With it around, there’s no need to worry too much, even in forests filled with dangers of the night.
But this ti, Lu Yun didn’t dare to be so explicit and detailed. She could only vaguely explain to Lu Aiguo and Shitou, “The vehicle has an automatic warning system that’ll alert us to any danger approaching. And the body of the vehicle is actually very sturdy; it can’t be blown open even with explosives.”
“…” Lu Aiguo, Xia Yuan, and Shitou looked at each other and fell into a speechless astonishnt. They were overwheld with the sheer number of shocks they’ve had since Lu Yun had found the warehouse, one after another, leaving them almost unable to react.
Lu Aiguo felt that if he asked “Is this true?” again, he would be too embarrassed to speak—he felt it was too naive.
“Well, in that case, let’s not keep watch tonight.” Lu Aiguo looked at Shitou, and after getting a subtle nod of agreent, he said so.
“I’m so hungry, let’s hurry up and have dinner. After eating, Xiaoyun, you can also show and Shitou how to use this big guy.”
“Sure, Mom, what are we eating?” Lu Yun, already pulling her mother’s hand excitedly, was the first to head toward the dining area in the vehicle, all the while asking as she walked.
…
In Xie Changgen’s ho compound in Xie Village.
Inside the room of Lu Aii and her husband. Their children have finally cried themselves to exhaustion and have fallen asleep with intermittent sobs. Lu Aii sits by the bed, silently wiping away tears, while Xie Changgen tries to be patient, speaking softly.
Unfortunately, the words he uttered not only failed to calm Lu Aii down, but they were like adding fuel to a volcano.
