Sure thinking far ahead, Shi Fengming felt like he couldn’t even get angry anymore.
It was ti for dicine again at noon. Seeing Shi Fengming’s wary gaze, Zhou Jingyi smiled faintly and sighed, "Wouldn’t it be better for everyone if you just took the dicine? Why go through all this trouble?" making it look so ugly!
Shi Fengming glared at her resentfully but knew that her words made sense. There was plenty of dicine, how many bowls could he smash? Better to drink it quickly and spare himself the spectacle of calling in the maids and old ladies, making himself, the Master, lose all dignity!
"Give it to !" Shi Fengming took the dicine with a cold face, tipped back his head, and drank it all in one gulp. Zhou Jingyi, standing by with water for rinsing, quickly handed him the tea cup while taking the dicine bowl from him.
When he glanced up and saw her slightly smiling, she seed very pleased with herself. Shi Fengming instantly felt indignant and upset, cursing angrily, "You venomous woman! Wicked woman! What a vicious heart you have!"
Although it had been only a short period of less than two days, his curses beca more fluent, and Zhou Jingyi, accustod to the insults, paid them no mind. However, there was soone who minded on her behalf.
Just as Young Master Zhou stepped outside the house and heard these words, he was engulfed in rage. He strode forward, kicked open the door, and stared coldly at Shi Fengming shouting, "You scoundrel, who are you calling a venomous, wicked woman!"
Shi Fengming barely recognized who Young Master Zhou was until he heard Zhou Jingyi’s surprised cry of "Brother!" and realized it was his brother-in-law. Having been insulted directly, how could he swallow his pride silently? In fact, he wished the Zhou family would make a big fuss, the bigger the better. He glared back furiously, sneering "Do you see a third person in this room? I’ve never seen such an ill-mannered woman, what fine people the Zhou family has raised!"
"Preposterous! Scum! Scum! If I don’t teach this bastard a lesson today, my last na isn’t Zhou!" Young Master Zhou, trembling with anger, raised his fist and aid a punch at Shi Fengming’s face.
"Big brother! No!" Zhou Jingyi was stunned and, acting on instinct, blocked the blow, let out a cry of pain as she was struck on the corner of her mouth and cheek, and involuntarily fell onto the bed. Although the punch didn’t land squarely, Young Master Zhou put a lot of force into it due to his extre anger, and Zhou Jingyi was in so much pain that tears sprang forth. The pain burning on her mouth and cheek was intense, and she knew it would swell without looking.
Both n were shocked; Young Master Zhou couldn’t believe it, and neither could Shi Fengming.
"Xiaoyi, have you lost your mind? He treats you like this and you still protect him? Didn’t you hear him insult our Zhou family? Get out of the way, I must discipline this troublemaker who can’t tell right from wrong, black from white!" Out of concern and further infuriated, Young Master Zhou tried to push Zhou Jingyi aside roughly.
"Big brother! Big brother!" Tears streaming down her face, Zhou Jingyi struggled and pleaded, "Big brother, he didn’t an it, please don’t be angry, okay? He’s sick, you can’t hit him! Get mad at instead if you must; it’s all my fault for bringing sha to you and our parents!" With that, Zhou Jingyi burst into tears and begged pitifully.
"No way!" Young Master Zhou said furiously, "I can’t swallow this anger; get out of my way! He’s been asking for a lesson for a long ti with that foul mouth! If you still consider yourself my sister, if you’re still part of the Zhou family, then move aside. We’ve been humiliated to this extent and you still tolerate it, what would our parents think if they knew! Move!"
"Big brother!" Zhou Jingyi, unable to struggle free and in her desperation, knelt down, grabbed his clothes, and sobbed, "I beg you, don’t do it! He’s too sick to withstand it! He just spoke rashly out of frustration, it wasn’t intentional, please let it be! Big brother!"
Young Master Zhou was so angry he was left speechless. Looking at his sister, now a tearful ss on her knees before him, and then at the silent man on the bed, his own anger flared, and he stomped his foot saying, "Enough, enough! Do as you please with your affairs; I’m out!" With that, he shook off his sleeve, pulled his clothes back, and left in a huff.
Zhou Jingyi watched his retreating back, moved her lips but couldn’t speak, then she took out her handkerchief to wipe away her tears and stood up from the floor, looking towards Fengming who was reclining on the bed.
Fengming subconsciously avoided her gaze, suddenly feeling an indescribable discomfort and awkwardness. He thought he should say sothing now, perhaps ask her if it hurt or say ’sorry’ or sothing like that, but it was as if his tongue weighed a ton and he couldn’t even move his lips.
Zhou Jingyi thought he might say sothing, but when not even a single word ca, her heart felt a chill, and she was on the verge of tears again.
"Do I really annoy you that much? Shi Fengming, what did I do wrong for you to treat this way? I just want to stay by your side to care for you, to watch you recover. Why won’t you even give that chance? Am I really so worthless in your heart!"
Fengming’s heart was filled with a sourness, a myriad of emotions. He looked at her and said, "Why bother? I’m dying of this illness, it’s not worth your effort! I’m doing this for your own good!"
"Shut up!" Zhou Jingyi cried, "Whether it’s worth it is not for you to decide! I, I truly am a fool. I shouldn’t have fallen for you if I could help it!"
Her heart sour, Zhou Jingyi also covered her face and ran out, crying.
Fengming, however, was completely stunned as if struck by lightning, surprised and unable to co to his senses for a long while.
What did she say? She said she liked him?
