Mrs. Wang heard that Mrs. Li and the others had already left and felt sowhat regretful. She sighed and chuckled, "You really should have t them; after all, they are your natal family’s elders and relatives. It was their first visit to our ho, how could I not et them? It’s just sitting and talking, yet you were overly cautious! Don’t do this next ti; otherwise, people might say you’re negligent!"

"Yes, Miss Wan will rember! I just thought they weren’t strangers, so there weren’t many formalities this ti," Sang Wan hurriedly agreed with a smile.

Mrs. Wang smiled, nodded, and gestured for her to sit down.

Gu Fangzi also smiled, but inside she couldn’t help feeling resentful. Without even having to think, she could guess that if the Second Lady of the Sang Family visited her aunt with her there engaging in conversation, this dignified and virtuous head lady wouldn’t be able to avoid losing face! Unfortunately, that foolish woman had actually left. Needless to say, it must have been Sang Wan’s doing.

Gu Fangzi couldn’t help feeling annoyed; she should have inford her aunt last night. She never expected that Sang Wan could go to such extres.

After sitting for a while, Sang Wan took her leave.

Not far away, she heard a voice from behind calling "Sister", it was Gu Fangzi catching up.

Sang Wan stopped and turned around to look back.

Gu Fangzi stepped forward, dismissed the maids, and scoffed at Sang Wan with a cold smile, "Sister, you move so quickly. Is that in-law’s lady soone shaful? Sending her off so early in the morning? I found her quite interesting; I think aunty would have liked her too. It’s a pity, I couldn’t bring her to et aunty! It would have been good for auntie to know that sister’s natal relatives are not ordinary!"

Sang Wan smiled and replied, "My second aunt really had urgent business, so she had to leave early. Why would you say that, sister? I didn’t know you hit it off so well with her. Birds of a feather flock together, I guess! If I had known earlier that you were so reluctant to part with her, I would have asked you to accompany her when she left!"

Gu Fangzi’s face fell, and she sneered, "Sister has really mastered the art of feigning ignorance. She is your direct second aunt, what does she have to do with ? Talk about being judged by the company one keeps; surely that applies to you instead? No wonder you were so anxious to see her off. If aunty t her, wouldn’t it embarrass you, showing that you’re just like that behind closed doors!"

Sang Wan spoke coldly, "My family’s relatives are none of your business, sister. If you have this much free ti, why not pay more attention to the people of the Gu Family? They are your real relatives! Gu Fangzi, I’m warning you, I know exactly what you wanted to do yesterday. If you continue to act recklessly, don’t bla for being rude!"

"And then what?" Gu Fangzi’s expression darkened, and she coldly said, "Sang Wan, first you act innocent but steal my cousin, now you show off your power fearlessly, pushing my cousin to drive away! When have you ever been polite to ? Sang Wan, one should know their limit! This is exactly what I need to say to you, you are rciless towards , don’t bla for being impolite in return!"

Sang Wan shook her head, "I really have nothing to say to you! You and the young master grew up together, you should understand him better than I do. If there were true feelings between you two, how could anything I do affect that? And what he decides to do, how could I possibly manipulate or decide for him? You really underestimate him! You knew he was engaged to yet you still stuck by him without any regard. If anyone is to bla, it’s clearly you. Whatever the result, it’s the consequence of your own actions! You’re blaming all this on , Gu Fangzi, don’t you have any sha?"

Gu Fangzi was montarily speechless, staring blankly at Sang Wan, her mind buzzing, and she couldn’t find words to retort.

Sang Wan didn’t bother with her any further and turned away to leave.

Gu Fangzi stood rooted to the spot, hands trembling and tightly clenched. In the surrounding silence, she could clearly hear her own racing heartbeat and slightly erratic breathing.

The sunlight overhead shined brightly, the wind gently blew, and faint mottled shadows on the ground subtly swayed. Despite the warmth of the spring sun, Gu Fangzi felt a chill and daze engulf her. She stared ahead blankly, as if the world before her eyes had transford, becoming almost surreal.

"Is it really my fault? Indeed, I intentionally got close to my cousin, but what’s wrong with that? He’s outstanding and possesses endless wealth; admiring and liking him, is that wrong? There was a ti when he also held dear, which shows he liked too... But when did everything change to this? Could it be that he never truly liked after all!"

Gu Fangzi’s mind whirled with these thoughts, becoming more chaotic and disheartened. A pain surged through her heart, and tears began to well up in her eyes.

"No, it can’t be!" Gu Fangzi shook her head, wiping the tears from her eyes with her handkerchief, and with gritted teeth, she bitterly said, "Sang Wan, you spout nonsense! If it weren’t for you, if it weren’t for you, things wouldn’t have turned out this way..."

"Miss, let’s go back," Lan Xiang stood by, watching her fluctuating expressions—alternating between grief, sorrow, and ferocity—and worriedly stepped forward to support her arm.

"Let go!" Gu Fangzi forcefully shook her off and coldly said, "No need for your help, I can walk on my own!"

She always believed that in this world, the only reliable and dependable thing was oneself. If you desire sothing, you must strive for it yourself; no one will simply hand it to you!

Although Sang Wan had hoped the events would calm down for a while, unexpectedly that noon as she was about to have lunch, Xiuchun rushed in frantically, her face pale, and without waiting for an announcent, she burst directly in front of Sang Wan, "Big Madam, sothing terrible has happened! Please go to the Mistress’s place imdiately, the young master has t with an accident!"
