"Not expensive, not expensive, this bracelet is just 800 taels! This price is a great deal! And it looks perfectly suitable on the young lady!" Mr. Sun bead with a smile.
"How can you say it’s not expensive when it’s so pricey!" Shi Lian was shocked; such a tiny bracelet cost 800 taels! She quickly tried to take it off.
But Sang Wan gently held her hand to stop her and smiled at Mr. Sun saying, "We’ll take this one!"
"Sister-in-law, but—"
"What’s all this hesitancy about? If you like it, just keep it!" Sang Wan gently patted her hand, and they exchanged smiles.
"Thank you, sister-in-law!" Shi Lian hurriedly smiled and thanked her.
"What need is there to be so formal among ourselves!" Both of them laughed together.
"Aren’t you picking out a couple of pieces for yourself, sister-in-law?" Shi Lian said with a smile. However, she swept her gaze lightly over the tray and knew that none of these pieces matched the brilliance of what Sang Wan wore on her head.
"I’ll pass," Sang Wan chuckled, instructing Mr. Sun to pack up the selected items.
Mr. Sun complied with a smile, taking away the unselected jewelry. He made his apologies asking them to wait a mont.
Shi Lian comnted with a laugh, "Indeed, everything elder brother gives to you, sister-in-law, is priceless!"
"You girl, now teasing ?"
"It’s praising elder brother’s affection for sister-in-law, how dare I tease you!"
"Hmph!" Shi Yui, seeing how friendly and intimate the two of them were chatting and laughing, was filled with both jealousy and anger. She couldn’t bear it any longer, and got up abruptly with a cold expression to walk outside.
Shi Yui cursed inwardly, thinking how Shi Lian, that damned girl, was supposedly her little sister. She had never been so affectionate with her on usual days, yet she was so familiar with a woman who had only been in the Shi Mansion for half a year. She was indeed good at clinging onto the right thigh and climbing the high branch! She herself and her mother had never mistreated her, yet she knew how to sche!
"Elder sister!" Shi Lian was startled and quickly stood up, a little at a loss.
Sang Wan also rose gracefully, softly patted her hand as a sign that it was okay, and they both headed out together.
"Elder sister," Sang Wan called out with a smile, "Your items aren’t packed yet, why not wait a bit longer?"
Shi Yui suddenly stopped and turned to her, speaking indifferently, "I don’t want to wait anymore, what about it? Tell Mr. Sun to deliver it to the mansion later!"
Sang Wan, who did not wish to get angry with her, replied with a smile upon hearing this, "That will do." Saying so, she signed the bill and left a ssage with the shopkeeper.
By the ti she turned back, Shi Yui had already left the shop.
Sang Wan and Shi Lian also put on their veils, and along with Liu Ya, Xingzhi, and Cai Yun, they walked out.
Arriving beside the carriage, Shi Yui was impatiently saying, "Why the dawdling! It seems you and your sister-in-law have a lot to talk about, haven’t you had enough chit-chat yet? I’m really sorry for spoiling your fun!"
"Listen to you, elder sister!" Without being too soft or defensive, Sang Wan smiled, "By the way, where else did you want to go?"
Seeing not a trace of embarrassnt or guilt on Sang Wan’s face, Shi Yui’s anger flared up even more. She had always been the center of attention, pampered by everyone, where people always fawned over her. When had she ever experienced such "exclusion"?
Even Gu Fangzi never dared to steal her lilight!
Whether she appreciated it or not was her own business, but she would not allow others to ignore her! Whoever it was!
Shi Yui snorted coldly, deliberately bumped heavily into Shi Lian while passing between them, and said coldly, "I wouldn’t presu! Go on with your stroll on your own. I’ll go my own way to avoid spoiling your fun and getting in your way!"
Sang Wan was about to speak when Shi Lian cried out in pain, bending down to hold her left foot, moaning in distress.
"Miss!" Cai Yun was startled and hurried to support her.
As it turned out, Shi Lian was involuntarily pushed towards the carriage by Shi Yui’s bump, and as the carriage shook slightly, the horse moved forward two steps due to the shock, causing the heavy wheel to roll right over Shi Lian’s outstretched foot.
"What happened to you!" Everyone was taken aback and quickly supported Shi Lian.
The carriages of Shi Mansion were chosen with care, larger and heavier than ordinary ones, weighing three to four hundred pounds, pressing down on the delicate foot of Shi Lian, how could it not be painful?
Tears sprung to Shi Lian’s eyes, her face turned deathly pale, features twisted in pain; the excruciating agony made her chest constrict so tightly that she could barely breathe. Gritting her teeth and gasping for air, she held onto Sang Wan’s arm tightly, shaking her head, unable to speak a word.
"Is it serious? Does it hurt a lot?" Sang Wan’s brow furrowed slightly and she said to the bewildered coachman, "What are you waiting for? Go find a doctor, now!"
But Shi Yui stopped the coachman, glancing disdainfully at Shi Lian’s foot, and with a "tsk", carelessly said, "It was just a light touch, such an overreaction, who is she performing for? Is she so wronged that she wants to apologize and make ands to her?"
"Elder sister, how can you say such a thing!" Sang Wan angrily exclaid.
"I’m talking to my little sister. What’s it to you!" Shi Yui sneered, "If you love to act, then keep on acting, forgive for not partaking in this drama! Coachman, drive. I’m off to Jinxiu Square!"
"But—madam!" The coachman was in a difficult position and looked towards Sang Wan for help. On one side was the spoiled madam he couldn’t afford to offend, and on the other was the rightful future mistress of the house.
"What’s this? You won’t listen to now? Believe it or not, when we get back I’ll have you fired!" Shi Yui was furious, her brows shooting upward.
"You all go ahead!" Sang Wan said coldly, "We will make our own way back later! Elder sister, I truly admire you," Sang Wan continued with a smile at Shi Yui, "Why did you bother to invite to shop with you! Why put yourself through all this?" Not only do you dislike , but you also insisted on dragging out with you, isn’t this just inviting discomfort for yourself?
