"Mom, Sis, stop arguing! Kesong is still waiting for to go back!"
"Little Sis, how can you just leave like this? We haven’t finished talking yet! What if that child ends up being compatible? Can you really just stand by and watch Kesong, at such a young age, leave us so soon?" The eldest daughter truly loved this child. As she spoke, her voice choked and tears stread down her face.
The three won burst into tears – this was the reality they least wanted to face!
After crying for a while, the old lady steadied her emotions and tentatively said, "Little one, if that child doesn’t work out, perhaps we could secretly search for soone? What if we find soone compatible? That would save my grandson’s life!"
"Mom, it’s not that I don’t want to search! But you all know that when I married into the Yan Family, they didn’t even know that child existed. Now, if I suddenly say I have another child, who would accept that? And besides, that child left almost 20 years ago. I..."
She struggled to hold back sobs and continued, "I want to find them too – to see if they’re living well. Do you think I don’t want to? That child was part of for ten whole months and only drank my milk for a year! Just thinking about it breaks my heart; I feel like I’ve cried all my tears dry!"
The eldest daughter patted her younger sister’s back and comforted her, "Don’t cry anymore, Little Sis! I know the pain in your heart. How about this? You don’t need to take the lead—I’ll send soone to that man’s hotown to search. If we find the child, we won’t need to tell the Yan Family the truth! If the match is successful, isn’t that even better? Either way, whether or not it works out, we’ll give the child so money – consider it compensation for all these years you haven’t been by their side!"
"Sis, thank you! Please help find her. I want to know if she’s doing well, if her father found her a good stepmother, if she’s been bullied or mistreated..."
Tears spilled uncontrollably. Perhaps she was truly overwheld with sorrow. A mother’s heart is not made of stone—how could she not care?
For many years, she hadn’t ntioned it aloud, but in the quiet of the night, she always thought of that child. But what could she do? Could her father let her acknowledge the child now? And would her husband’s family accept them?
"Do you still rember the na of that man’s hotown? Oh, and do you still have the child’s photo?" The eldest daughter regained her composure and asked.
"I rember—it’s called Bashan. But I don’t know the exact address! I do have the child’s photo. I’ll get it for you!"
The younger sister took out a red wallet from her bag, retrieved a black-and-white photo from an inner compartnt, and carefully traced its surface with her fingers. If Ye Duowei were here, she’d imdiately recognize this photo was identical to the one Yin Xian had at ho!
"Alright, give it to ! Don’t worry, Little Sis. Even though we’ve lost touch for so many years, finding soone is hardly a problem for your big sister. Just wait for the news!"
"Eldest Sis, you’ll have to put in the effort to go to that man’s hotown and look for her! For now, don’t tell Dad about this!"
The old lady could only do what she could, as there was a stubborn old man standing in the way. They’d have to take things one step at a ti.

During the National Day holiday, the sky was clear and the air crisp. Li Si and Leng Mochen went on a one-day self-driving tour around the outskirts. The destination they chose was Gufeng Lake in North City, a place with beautiful scenery where, if they got tired, they could find a spot for a picnic.
The weather was wonderful that day. The sunlight ward their skin, and the skies were blue with only a few white clouds floating lazily. As they walked the narrow path, they passed a group of young people barbecuing nearby. Further ahead, they unexpectedly encountered a couple taking wedding photos.
The two paused for a while. The bride’s shy and blissful smile affected Li Si’s emotions. Her gaze was filled with envy as she continuously watched them until Leng Mochen pulled her away.
"Little Girl, envious?"
"Of course! Bro, don’t you know that every girl has a dream of being a bride? I still rember when I was little, playing dress-up with my friends by draping mosquito nets over ourselves as makeshift wedding dresses!" Li Si’s eyes sparkled as she reminisced. Back then, even though they didn’t have many toys, they were truly happy!
"Interesting!"
Li Si tilted her head and gazed curiously at Leng Mochen, who was walking alongside her. "Bro, what did you play with when you were a kid? For so reason, I’m curious about your past."
He froze for a mont, seemingly reflecting, before replying after so pause, "I don’t rember too well, but I definitely didn’t play the kind of gas you described!"
"Well, of course! How could boys play the sa gas as girls? I’m guessing you were a quiet, handso boy when you were young!"
Li Si suddenly rembered that he once ntioned forgetting many things after waking up from a car accident—likely including mories of his childhood. So she quickly changed the topic, pointed to a smooth, grassy area ahead where a large tree offered shade, and said, "That spot looks great! There’s shade under the big, leafy tree, so we won’t be in the sun. How about we have our picnic there?"
Leng Mochen smiled and nodded.
The two spread out a red-checkered picnic blanket and began taking out the food Sister Tao had prepared from the basket: packed eel sushi, sandwiches, Arican-style hot dogs, vegetable salads, and of course, her signature drink, honey lemon iced tea.
They exchanged smiles and said, "Let’s eat!"
A cool breeze blew gently as they gazed at the lakeside scenery. Li Si couldn’t help but feel relaxed. No wonder people love imrsing themselves in nature—it truly lifts the spirits!
Biting into a piece of eel sushi, she thought it tasted exquisite. Her taste buds ca alive, and she closed her eyes in satisfaction, completely lost in the bliss of good food.
Leng Mochen smirked mischievously and asked, "Little Girl, about that rumor post—who do you think was behind it?"
Li Si nodded quickly, her eyes brimming with curiosity. Recently, the school’s gossip had quieted down, as if her controversy had sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
"It was Li Fei and Yao iling, but they’ve already been punished!" he replied, observing her reaction.
"Cough, cough, cough!"
Li Si choked while swallowing the eel sushi, quickly drank so water, and in her haste, choked even more, coughing violently!
Leng Mochen gently patted her back, his eyes full of concern. "Feeling better?"
"Much better! Bro, stop patting!" Li Si’s face turned red from coughing—how could she not choke out of surprise with such unexpected news? Even drinking water flustered her!
"Alright!"
Li Si thought for a mont, trying to suppress her cough and asked, "Bro, is it true, what you just said?"
Leng Mochen nodded with an "Mm" to confirm.
"I figured! The sudden lack of attention to that post at school—turns out you were the one working behind the scenes! But why do Li Fei and Yao iling always target ? Li Fei I can understand, but Yao iling already dropped out to have her baby, yet she still had the spare effort to fra ? It’s ridiculous!"
"You’d have to ask them yourself. Perhaps it’s because you stand out too much and naturally beco a target."
