After Li Si and Leng Mochen left, Leng Mo returned to her seat, and the man’s attitude beca even more enthusiastic.

"Miss Leng, are those two your brother and sister-in-law? They look familiar. Are they the President of the Leng Group and his wife?

It was a bit rushed earlier. If there’s a chance another day, can you introduce to them? We’re practically family now!"

After speaking, he even winked at her, as if saying "you know what I an!"

Leng Mo cast him an indifferent glance, lowered her head to check her watch, and asked, "Are you done?"

Today’s one felt even more nauseating! She really didn’t know when her mom would finally be satisfied, stop, and leave her alone.

The man was stunned. "Ah!" Then, as if realizing sothing, he laughed awkwardly: "I already ntioned my situation earlier. Though I can’t compare to your brother, my credentials are still quite impressive. In the future, I would surely treat you well!

Also, I know how busy a doctor’s work is. Don’t worry, I’ll fully support your career and take care of you in life!"

He really hadn’t imagined that today’s blind date not only had such outstanding qualifications in every respect but was also an ice-cold beauty.

From the mont they t, she managed to stir up his curiosity and desire. He was determined to win her over. If he could marry her, with the Leng Group’s backing, how could he not succeed?

Leng Mo looked with disdain at the calculating man in front of her. Was this the "cultured and talented Ph.D. who studied abroad" her mom had raved about?

He wasn’t even as decent as the bureaucrat she t yesterday—at least that one had a steadier vibe.

"I don’t think we’re suitable. I have matters at the hospital to attend to, so I’ll leave now. I’ll explain everything to the matchmaker later."

"Hey! Don’t go! I think we’re very compatible! I’m really happy with you. Hey, listen to !"

Leng Mo hurriedly walked out of the teahouse, feeling a mix of nausea and powerlessness. At the sa ti, a trace of sadness swept across her heart.

Was it such an unforgivable cri for her not to get married or find a boyfriend?

Her mom used to be better about it, at most nagging occasionally, which she could ignore easily enough.

But ever since Grandfather handed the Leng Group over to her second brother, and her mom caused an uproar at the family ho, things had changed. Grandfather’s words—"Only after getting married will shares be gifted as dowry"—had made her mother act like a woman possessed.

She mobilized every resource she had to arrange blind dates for her.

If she disagreed, her mother would act heartbroken and endlessly grumble, blaming her. She constantly brought up how the Leng Group "rightfully" should have gone to her eldest brother, saying that Leng Mochen got an undeserved windfall.

Now, this last bit of shares absolutely couldn’t fall to an outsider.

Her father, who had never ddled in such matters before, even sat her down to have a serious talk this ti. Of course, his reasons were different from her mother’s.

He simply hoped she could find a good man who loved and cherished her and that she could start a family, so she wouldn’t beco lonelier with age.

Eventually, she gave in under the relentless pressure and reluctantly agreed.

Maybe, for the sake of her parents, she should spend her later years with a man, build a ho, and live quietly, giving them peace of mind.

But she could no longer love. She only wanted to find a companion. Just a ho, nothing more.

Because the one she once hoped to grow old with, to hold in her arms until their last breath, had already left her...

When Li Si and the others returned ho, Mrs. Leng was also there. Seeing how close the two of them looked, she smiled happily.

Ever since Li Si and her son got married, it was rare for them to have any serious disagreents. But this ti seed to be different.

How could she not worry?

To begin with, her heart was already tied in knots over Leng Mochen just taking the reins at the Leng Group, navigating all kinds of political and corporate battles. Coupled with concerns about Buding, and the stalled travel plans with Mr. Leng, she was constantly on edge.

She thought they could only relax and enjoy travel once everything returned to normal.

If the two of them continued this cold war, then she really might have to step in and diate.

It wasn’t that she was blindly taking her son’s side, but this wasn’t the ti for a wife to add more trouble instead of helping.

"Sisi! I called you before stopping by, why didn’t you answer?"

Li Si shot a discreet glare at Leng Mochen next to her, then said, "I left my phone and bag at Shasha’s place!"

Mrs. Leng’s face showed a flash of understanding before she smiled and nodded. "I figured as much!" She then glanced over at the play area and asked softly, "By the way, how’s that nanny, Wang Mingyue? Are you satisfied?"

Li Si glanced over as well. In the play area in the living room, Buding looked well taken care of by Wang Mingyue, practicing his crawling on a mat. Xiao Guai was beside him, mimicking his movents, seemingly demonstrating for him. She smiled. "She’s pretty good!"

So far, nothing seed amiss. The private background check she conducted also ca out clean. But still, just because Mrs. Leng had introduced her didn’t an she could let her guard down.

Reality had proven over and over again that you could never truly know soone’s heart.

Outward appearances ant nothing. Who knew if soone could resist temptation or withstand threats?

Mrs. Leng laughed. "As long as you’re both happy with her! As long as you two and Buding are all doing well, we as parents can rest easy!"

When Xiao Guai saw the hoowners return, and Mrs. Leng talking to her first, he quickly ran over to Li Si’s side, blinking his bright, shiny eyes, and shot a glance in the direction of Mrs. Leng, as if tattling on her.

Li Si burst into laughter. Xiao Guai had a knack for being lovable to everyone.

Except for Mrs. Leng. Sothing ingrained deep down hadn’t changed over ti.

So every ti Mrs. Leng visited, Xiao Guai would instinctively keep his distance to avoid getting on her bad side or enduring any obvious glares.

Before long, Bai Shasha and Xu Er arrived, dressed to the nines, to return Li Si’s bag.

Mrs. Leng chatted cheerfully with them for a bit before excusing herself. She had to head back to prepare for the evening banquet with Mr. Leng.

After Mrs. Leng left, Bai Shasha and Xu Er couldn’t resist teasing the now-reconciled couple.

In the dressing room, Li Si was picking out an evening gown. Bai Shasha took the chance to sidle up to her and mutter, "Si, it’s a good thing I’m quick-witted and didn’t talk trash about your dear Old Leng behind his back! Otherwise, wouldn’t I have been caught red-handed earlier?"

The very thought still sent shivers down her spine!

Who was her dear Old Leng? Even Long Wu, not to ntion her own husband, had said before: he was the kind of man who always avenged his grievances, never let anything slide.

Li Si picked up a black backless evening gown and held it against herself in the lavish full-length mirror.

Hearing Shasha’s words, she couldn’t help but laugh. "Oh, stop talking about that! Help decide—do I wear this one, or..."

She gestured toward the gold and red gowns she had laid aside for consideration.

Seeing that Li Si clearly didn’t want to dwell on the subject, Bai Shasha nodded in understanding. When it ca to trust issues and ex-girlfriend drama, these two were the quickest to lock horns.

Luckily, they seed back to normal now.

Still, she couldn’t explain why, but a bad feeling lingered faintly in her heart...
