Li Si paused before speaking again: "But just now, after calming down, I also understand that the reason she acted like this this ti was because she had no choice. If those two people hadn’t kidnapped her son and threatened her, she wouldn’t have done such a thing."
"But understanding doesn’t an forgiveness or acceptance! My Buding almost got taken from —how can I afford to be so saintly?"
Sister Ding begging like that earlier only made her feel more indignant and uncomfortable.
Just because she’s kind, does that an she has to be burdened with the label of ’always doing the right thing’? Well, for Buding’s sake, she’d rather be the villain!
Su ng listened quietly. She could more or less empathize with what Li Si was saying. Thinking about what Sister Ding did today—honestly, she couldn’t even imagine if she substituted her own child in that situation.
If anyone tried to take her Peanut away, she’d fight them to the death.
And what Sister Ding did in the end—kneeling and kowtowing, along with those desperate pleas—left even Su ng, as an outsider, feeling uncomfortable just witnessing it!
"Sisi! You’re absolutely right to think this way! Since Brother Heizi has already brought the people back, there’s no doubt they’ll investigate and handle this!"
"Exactly! If there’s a problem, go to the police—it’s no use coming to !"
As for Sister Ding worrying that they’d take revenge on her son—that’s honestly quite laughable!
Although, considering Leng Mochen’s typical thods and personality, it’s not entirely impossible.
This ti, Li Si has decided not to intervene anymore; whatever happens, happens!
As long as her Buding is safe, she’ll allow herself to be selfish!
Then the two of them began discussing attending Bai Shasha’s wedding in North City tomorrow.
"Sisi, will Buding be coming with you tomorrow?" Su ng asked with concern, thinking Li Si probably wouldn’t let her child leave her side anymore.
Li Si nodded firmly, "Of course! Otherwise, I wouldn’t feel at ease!"
Originally, their plan was to leave Buding behind due to his young age—having him stay at the villa in North City wasn’t ideal. Instead, they would have Mr. Leng, Mrs. Leng, and Sister Ding watch over him for one day, leave part of the bodyguards at ho, keep Xiao Guai there to help protect him, and then rush back imdiately after the wedding.
Now, with such a terrifying incident happening—even though Sister Ding had been taken away—Li Si was still on edge, distrustful of everyone!
She’d only feel at ease having her child by her side. So tomorrow, Buding absolutely had to go with them to North City.
But the day after tomorrow, both she and Leng Mochen, as mutual friends of Bai Shasha and Xu Er, had to attend the post-wedding events.
What about the child then? There were plenty of people around them, but who could truly make them feel secure anymore?
Li Si thought of the Leng Family parents; at this point, it seed the only option was to ask the elderly couple to accompany them to North City.
During Leng Ning’s engagent party previously, Mrs. Leng’s righteous stand had left Li Si with a shred of gratitude toward them. Thinking of entrusting the child to their care brought her so reassurance.
At least from their perspective, Buding was their blood-related grandchild, their precious treasure! They wouldn’t let him suffer even the slightest grievance.
As for the bodyguards at the villa, the ones left behind would guard the house, and all the others would need to go with them!
Leng Mochen and Long Wu sat in the garden pavilion, smoking, both wearing grim expressions.
Long Wu exhaled a smoke ring and glanced at the silent, icy aura emanating from Leng Mochen. He finally chose to speak. "Er’er! Don’t beat yourself up too much about this! No matter how capable you are, could you truly see through another’s heart? But this incident really has served as a wake-up call for us. When it cos to employing people in the future, we’ll have to be even more ticulous."
To be honest, even Long Wu felt a lingering fear when he thought about it. If Leng Er’s son had really been hard this ti, finding him alive would’ve been almost impossible.
The opposition’s tactics were beyond ruthless—so sinister!
Thinking about his own situation, Long Wu realized he needed to persuade Su ng and her child to return ho as soon as possible.
Leng Mochen took a heavy drag on his cigarette, narrowed his eyes, and glanced at Long Wu. "This ti was indeed my oversight! There won’t be a next ti! As for the two n, they were clearly acting under soone’s orders."
Those two n didn’t seem like impulsive amateurs—perhaps even seasoned criminals. Who were they taking orders from?
He thought it over: Han Mingzhe? Nie Xiuwei? Was there anyone else left?
Suddenly, Leng Mochen recalled the latest news. Back at George’s banquet overseas, the reason Nie Xiuwei appeared alongside that man and woman was due to George’s son inviting them.
To outsiders, they seed to share a re acquaintance. But behind closed doors? Could there be sothing more?
Then recalling the fierce rivalry between George’s children after his hospitalization, Leng Mochen thought about his upcoming trip abroad to handle the collaboration with George...
Long Wu didn’t notice the increasingly grave expression on Leng Mochen’s face and casually flicked his cigarette stub into the nearby patch of grass.
"I agree with you! Speaking of Han Mingzhe, he’s been utterly crushed by Zheng Huanxue’s father recently—crying and begging for help. He probably hasn’t had the ti to orchestrate sothing like this! As for Nie Xiuwei, that bastard has just been grabbed by Heizi. Given the sa revenge tactics as last ti, could he really repeat the sa move twice?"
That scar-faced man captured back then had stubbornly insisted the kidnapping of Buding was motivated purely by greed, claiming he hadn’t been influenced by anyone else.
But many clues had quietly pointed toward Nie Xiuwei!
After a mont of silence, Leng Mochen said, "Maybe. Nie Xiuwei could have joined forces with soone else."
If Nie Xiuwei truly had ties to George’s son, then this recent incident might have been so individuals trying to prevent him from interfering in George’s affairs.
If their plan succeeded and Buding was abducted, it would clearly stop Leng Mochen from leaving at such a critical juncture to handle international business. Between his career and his son, his son would obviously co first!
Buding would’ve beco their leverage to control and manipulate him—whatever they wanted, they knew he’d offer it all just to get his son back!
Long Wu raised a brow disdainfully. "Who? That bastard can wrangle connections like this?"
Long Wu fundantally disdained Nie Xiuwei. As far as Long Wu was concerned, the guy was nothing but an illegitimate child, always scheming as if he was a real mber of the Leng Family, dreaming of stepping through their doors.
What a delusional joke!
Leng Mochen stared out into the dark night beyond the pavilion, his gaze steeped in thought.
"Never underestimate anyone! It’s often the insignificant players who end up causing our downfall in unexpected ways."
If his suspicions turned out to be correct, then he wouldn’t let the people playing gas with him go unpunished. Not a chance!
"I wonder if Heizi has gotten anything out of them yet," Long Wu muttered, reaching for his phone.
Over at Heizi’s end, the suspects had been imdiately separated into different interrogation rooms for questioning.
Despite having no chance to speak on the way there, their exchanged glances had already allowed them to coordinate their alibis.
So when the interrogation began, the pair hardly resisted or made any trouble, cooperatively confessing where they had hidden Sister Ding’s son.
It turned out Sister Ding’s son had insisted on living in a rented apartnt near his school instead of the dormitory.
He was a transfer student from another region, and naturally didn’t get along well with his classmates.
Even though he was a boy, Sister Ding still worried.
