Beibei looked curiously at Li Si and Bai Shasha, his eyes lighting up, "Auntie Li Si! Is it really you?"

Seeing the innocent and pure smile on the child’s face, Li Si could no longer pretend not to recognize him.

She bent down with a smile, gently patting his head. "You have such a good mory! You still rember !"

Beibei was a little excited; he had always wanted to see Auntie Li Si again.

Back then, even though he was young, he knew it was Auntie Li Si who saved him when he got lost.

But ever since that visit to the ski resort, he hadn’t seen her again.

"Auntie! I missed you so much! Why haven’t you co to see Beibei anymore?"

Li Si could only find an excuse, "Because Auntie has been busy!"

No matter what unpleasantness existed between adults, children were innocent.

Later, she had heard bits and pieces about Yin Qi and Han Mingzhe’s divorce.

Back then, she had felt a pang of pain for Beibei.

But there were so things she could do nothing about.

Yin Qi, slightly out of breath, finally caught up. She was montarily stunned to see Li Si and then looked even more embarrassed as she saw her speaking gently to Beibei.

Beibei’s disappearance had been resolved thanks to Li Si, and at the ti, Yin Qi had been sincerely grateful.

But later, because of Yin Xian, she thought Li Si was trying to climb into their family.

That thankfulness was quickly cast aside, and at her brother’s engagent banquet with Ye Duowei, she had confronted Li Si harshly.

She had known from that mont that her relationship with Li Si was irrevocably broken.

Who would’ve thought that later, unaware of the truth, she stupidly allowed herself to be manipulated by that witch Qian Rouxuan? She had been used as a tool to say many cruel things to Li Si’s face.

Now, whenever she thought about it, she felt deeply ashad.

Beibei noticed his mother lowering her head, remaining silent. Tugging her hand, he looked up happily and said, "Mom! Why aren’t you greeting Auntie Li Si when you see her? Did you forget she saved ?"

A sarcastic smile flickered across Li Si’s lips. Beibei’s question struck ho, and Yin Qi couldn’t have felt more embarrassed.

Even a child understood basic gratitude, but had Yin Qi ever truly rembered this kindness in the years that passed?

"I rember! Li Si! Long ti no see! I..." Yin Qi wanted to say sorry, but the words felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, lodged in her throat.

She knew that a simple apology would carry little weight now.

Bai Shasha, who knew so of the background, cast a disdainful glance at Yin Qi.

Li Si gave Yin Qi a calm look and responded with a curt "Hmm." She had no interest in exchanging pleasantries with her.

If it weren’t for the sake of the child, refraining from harsh words was already considered kind.

She hadn’t forgotten the things Yin Qi had said to her back then.

Still, in the end, the most innocent and pitiable one was this child. Li Si sighed inwardly and gently patted Beibei’s head. "Beibei, Auntie has things to take care of. Next ti, don’t run off on your own, okay? Stay safe."

Especially in a crowded mall like this; who knows if there might be soone with bad intentions lurking around.

Beibei nodded happily, his eyes filled with longing. "Got it! Auntie Li Si! I really miss you! When can you co and play with ?"

These words made Li Si’s heart ache. In truth, she really liked Beibei. If not for all that had happened, she would’ve gladly spent more ti with him.

But as for Yin Qi, Yin Xian, and even Mrs. Han and the Han Family, she didn’t want anything more to do with them.

All the things from back then—rescuing Beibei, helping Mrs. Han recuperate—call her a saint or a fool, it didn’t matter. She had done it and had no regrets.

Even if she were given the chance to choose again, if she saw Beibei in trouble, she would still save him.

It just went to show that the human heart is the most unpredictable thing, and human nature is far too complex.

"Then let’s wait until Auntie has so free ti, okay?" Li Si could only reply evasively.

Beibei lowered his head in disappointnt. "Alright then..."

He wasn’t a small child anymore. From the mont he saw Auntie Li Si and noticed his mother and uncle’s expressions, he vaguely understood that sothing had happened—a conflict he wasn’t privy to.

There must have been so unpleasantness between them.

But toward him, Auntie Li Si’s eyes still held kindness and affection.

Li Si ruffled his hair gently, smiling as she waved him goodbye and turned to leave. Bai Shasha hooked her arm around Li Si’s, muttering softly, "Poor kid."

She didn’t have a high opinion of the Yin Family. She hadn’t forgotten about that video of Yin Qi’s husband with Qian Rouxuan.

All the filthy drama surrounding it—who knew how Beibei would cope when he grew older and learned the truth?

Beibei watched Li Si’s retreating figure with reluctance and even took a couple of steps forward to follow her.

Yin Xian cleared his throat to stop him, then diverted the subject, asking, "Beibei! Why were you running off again?"

Beibei stuck his tongue out. "I saw you, Uncle, so I ran over!" Then he turned to Yin Qi, saying, "Mom! I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have run off!"

"Rember that next ti!" Ever since the divorce, Yin Qi had been especially protective of Beibei, afraid that she might lose track of him.

And now that Han Mingzhe had returned to Beijing, he was intent on fighting her for custody of Beibei.

The two adults and the child stood there, each lost in their own thoughts as they watched Li Si’s figure disappear into the distance.

When they left the mall, neither had much interest in continuing their ti out.

Bai Shasha noticed the subtle sadness on Li Si’s face and tried to comfort her. "Si, sotis there’s just nothing you can do. Beibei is pitiable, but what his parents did ultimately hurt you deeply."

Even though Li Si had learned only part of it, Bai Shasha knew all the details from Su ng. Yin Qi’s being deceived and used by Qian Rouxuan? She deserved it!

Her own husband had been entangled with her best friend for years, and she had no clue. Yet a few sly words were enough to make her lash out at Li Si with cruel accusations.

Li Si laughed and swayed Bai Shasha’s hand. "I understand it all. It’s just that seeing the child today made feel unsettled.

I still rember the first ti I saw him—dirty all over but incredibly cute.

Now he’s grown, but you can tell from his eyes that he’s not really happy!"

She had only seen Beibei a few tis. There had been that ti she saved him, then at the Han Family banquet, when relatives insulted and slandered her behind her back, and little Beibei, despite his age, had tried to stand up for her.

And at the ski resort, in the hotel—his small figure had been there, too.

Bai Shasha sensed it as well and sighed, "Children of divorced parents inevitably carry scars in their hearts. And everything his father did—when he grows up and finds out one day, it’ll be another blow."

The two fell silent as they got into the car.

Li Si, after a while, seed to adjust her mood. Only when Bai Shasha saw her looking more like herself did she tease, "See? Isn’t it more exciting to co out with ? Go to a al, run into your husband’s relatives. Go shopping, bump into the Yin family."

Li Si was amused by her joke. Thinking about it, it did seem to be the case—when she went out alone, she never bumped into anyone.

She lightly poked Bai Shasha on the forehead. "Looks like you’re a magnet for drama. Next ti I go out with you, I’ll be sure to check the almanac first!

If the date’s no good and it says ’travel is inauspicious,’ I’m staying ho!" (To be continued. If you’re enjoying this story, please visit Qidian (qidian) to vote with your recomndations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian to read.)
