Leng Mochen put down the phone, his fingers subconsciously tapping on the desk.

Long Wu, seated across from him, rarely showed such a serious face: "Leng Er! That bastard dared to ss with us. If we don’t give him a lesson, he might actually think we’re weaklings who can be pushed around."

Ever since Long Wu heard the news, he had been furious. On Leng Er’s wedding day, the child had almost been kidnapped.

The severity of this act was outrageous! It was intolerable!

If there are grudges between adults, settle them directly with a fair fight. But targeting soone’s child? What kind of logic is that?

Perhaps in the past, if sothing like this had happened, Long Wu wouldn’t have felt much about it. After all, he had always been tough-hearted.

But ever since Su ng got pregnant—his son being re weeks away from birth—he developed a natural, instinctive fondness toward children, unable to bear seeing any child suffer.

Especially recently, when he and Leng Er were working on establishing an Antique City. During the demolitions, they’d spotted several holess children, and he’d nearly broken down in tears.

It truly was so damn pitiful!

What are these parents thinking? If you’re incapable of raising a child, why bring them into the world?

And those child traffickers? Complete scumbags!

"Of course we can’t let it go, but we need to find the right culprit first!"

The girl Xiao Tong hadn’t provided any aningful information during interrogation. She rely confessed to scheming with the security guard to abduct Buding and blackmail them afterward.

The fake security guard had fled the scene imdiately and remained at large.

Footage from around the villa had also been reviewed. Clearly, that individual was no amateur; his face had been cleverly disguised, making it impossible for now to ascertain his true identity.

Another person of interest was the suited man who had appeared at their wedding reception. Following so investigation, it was discovered that his female companion was a close friend of Zheng Huanxue, the Zheng Family’s heiress.

Leng Mochen instantly recognized the suited man in the wedding video as the sa man who had attended George’s banquet in Y Country.

However, the woman at his side this ti wasn’t the sa as before. For so reason, Leng Mochen couldn’t shake the feeling that the woman’s aura seed sowhat familiar.

Unfortunately, even after zooming in on the video, it was still too blurry to discern any clear details.

Having spent years abroad in a previous life, perhaps he had encountered this woman sowhere? Yet he felt that possibility was unlikely!

Heizi’s investigation revealed that this man was Nie Xiuwei, a citizen of Y Country who had been fostered by a Chinese businessman. His biological mother, Wei Zi, had passed away last year; the identity of his biological father remained unknown.

As for whether Nie Xiuwei was the mastermind behind the incident, there was no concrete evidence to confirm it yet.

Nie Xiuwei had recently arrived in Huaxia. As for whether he had a criminal record in Y Country, Heizi was investigating him thoroughly to see if there were any other cris tied to him. If it turned out he was indeed the orchestrator, they hoped to bring him to justice as soon as possible.

However, cases involving foreign nationals were significantly more challenging to investigate, and even when the cris were proven, the legal process for punishing them was far more complicated than for dostic offenders.

Long Wu ruffled his hair in frustration. "I think you should start investigating the grudges tied to people around you. Although Leng Mohao and Qian Rouxuan have both been incarcerated, there’s no guarantee they don’t have connections outside working on their behalf."

This was the only lead he could think of!

Leng Mochen, however, felt a strange intuition, as if the actual issue might be far removed from the direction they were currently pursuing.

True, Leng Mohao had had so minor henchn outside, but they had all been cleaned up afterward.

Though Qian Rouxuan had lived abroad for years, her social circle was rather simplistic. The people he’d assigned to investigate her had only found so indiscretions in her private life but uncovered no substantial leads.

And this Nie Xiuwei—what was his objective?

Everyone has a purpose for their actions!

Was it purely to abduct Buding for ransom money?

It didn’t seem that simple!

Hopefully, the people sent overseas would bring back so useful information.

And within his heart, he had a faint suspicion that he couldn’t yet share with Long Wu.

That night, he returned ho late. Li Si hadn’t gone to bed and was waiting for him in the living room.

As he stepped through the door, the warmth of the ho softened his heart.

"Why are you still up?" he casually put his briefcase down on the coffee table and approached her.

Li Si caught a whiff of alcohol on him and frowned. "Did you drink?"

"Just a little!"

Long Wu had drunk quite a lot. He wouldn’t have indulged except to accommodate his feelings.

Knowing Li Si’s sensitivity to slls—especially smoke and alcohol—he always made an effort to avoid them.

"Go shower quickly! You sll awful!" Li Si waved her hand, exaggerating her disdain.

Leng Mochen purposefully leaned closer to her, pretending to be aggrieved. "I haven’t even gotten old yet, and you’re already disliking ?"

"Oh, stop! Who said I dislike you? It’s just that you reek of alcohol and smoke, and it’s unpleasant!"

Sotis, this man was just like a little kid. Li Si often felt as though she was mothering two children—one grown-up and one actual child!

"Want to shower together?" His eyes glead mischievously. Alcohol often stirred his desires.

Li Si nudged him away. "I’ve already showered! Go on!"

"So you’re blaming , huh? For not coming ho earlier to shower with you?"

"You...!" There was no saving this man!

In the end, Li Si couldn’t resist the drunken affection of this man. After a night of playful antics, they finally settled down in bed, embracing each other as they fell asleep!

Days sped by quickly, and soon it was the day of her thesis defense. Li Si carefully prepared her materials and headed to the venue.

Her classmates all arrived as expected. Since her thesis had been crafted under the guidance of her professor, she only needed to thoroughly understand and morize her work.

When it ca ti to explain her thesis and answer the questions, she didn’t find it too difficult.

Li Si was fortunate enough to pass on her first attempt.

Liu Xiaole followed her, and earlier, their class president, Xu Yi, had inford everyone about a dinner party to celebrate with their teacher and classmates once the defense was over.

No excuses for not attending.

Li Si and Liu Xiaole shared a secret laugh, knowing there was no way they’d leave early from this dinner.

At the reserved restaurant, their classmates and teachers were spread across three tables.

Li Si sat with Liu Xiaole the entire ti, both drinking plain water.

Ling Wei and Du Juan now acted like strangers, completely ignoring each other. Thankfully, they were seated at separate tables.

Li Si wasn’t close to the other girls at her table and rely listened to Liu Xiaole chat with them.

The girls admired Liu Xiaole’s job placent, knowing the company was owned by Li Si’s husband.

Still, since they weren’t particularly close to Li Si, they didn’t have the courage to ask for job assistance directly.

Instead, they focused on befriending Liu Xiaole, in hopes of getting insider tips whenever recruitnt was announced.

After the defense, their university life officially ended!

Everyone harbored mixed emotions—excited but also uncertain about the future, tinged with sentints of farewell.

Leaving the ivory tower, transitioning from campus to society, they were bound to experience various difficulties adapting.

So had secured jobs while others were preparing for graduate school, and a few chose to study abroad.

Perhaps in a few years, during a reunion, the successes and failures of life would begin to show.

All gatherings eventually co to an end. In the end, several girls couldn’t help but cry. Li Si, having joined the dinner late, didn’t share their depth of emotion but still felt so sadness.

Liu Xiaole’s eyes reddened as well. Her future job was secured—now all she needed was to work hard to achieve success.

Only her romantic life remained rocky. After all, life can’t always be perfect.

Everyone raised their glasses, sharing heartfelt reflections and well wishes. Eventually, a few boys got themselves thoroughly drunk, reciting poetry while slurring.

Xu Yi had learned about Li Si’s upcoming wedding on June 1st. Reflecting on his past foolish actions, he felt a deep sense of embarrassnt.

Yet as he watched the radiant Li Si—her beauty akin to a lotus erging from water—sitting quietly and observing others drink, he couldn’t suppress his longing. With a glass of red wine in hand, he approached her. "Li Si!"

As soon as he ca over, Li Si hadn’t reacted yet, but Liu Xiaole, sitting next to her, stood up: "Class president!"
