Xiao Liu hadn’t left yet; instead, she was curiously checking out the sports car behind Xu Er. She couldn’t help but excitedly grab Bai Shasha’s arm and shake it.
"Xiao Bai! We’ve got a good relationship at work, right? Could you ask your boyfriend to take for a spin? I’ve never been in a sports car before!"
Inside, Xu Er was crying bitter tears. What about the atmosphere? What about the romance?
Lady, you’re more than welco to look or go for a ride any day. But why today, of all days? Do you have any idea how important today is?
Had I known, I wouldn’t have driven this newly-delivered car today. Such a misstep, such a big misstep!
Even Bai Shasha found her colleague’s reaction a bit over the top, so she awkwardly chuckled and said, "Xiao Liu! Another day, okay? We have sothing urgent to take care of today."
Xiao Liu pouted in mild dejection. "Fine, but promise you’ll let ride this car another day!"
"Sure, sure. See you then!" Bai Shasha said, while Xu Er chivalrously opened the car door for her. She slid into the seat.
Xu Er’s face stiffened as he forced a smile and nodded at the fawning Xiao Liu, before getting in the car and driving off.
He was seething inside. The original plan was to propose near her workplace, creating a public sensation with the crowd. At that point, Shasha would probably feel a little embarrassed but ultimately agree.
But now? Not only was she late, there weren’t many people around, and then there ca this ddling nightmare—how was he supposed to salvage this?
Shasha noticed Xu Er’s tangled expressions flashing on his face as he drove, so she softly explained, "Xiao Liu usually gets along well with at work. She’s just a bit overly familiar. Don’t let it bother you, okay?"
They worked together, and Shasha didn’t want to strain relationships with colleagues she interacted with daily.
"It’s fine!" Xu Er feigned indifference.
Shasha glanced out the car window at the fleeting scenery. "Where are we heading?"
At this mont, Xu Er felt conflicted. The restaurant had been reserved earlier, but if they went straight to dinner without proposing first, it felt out of sequence!

"I’m taking you sowhere nice! Are you hungry?"
Shasha shook her head. "Not really. I had a little cake during afternoon tea break." Her workplace offered great perks; the break room had freshly baked pastries supplied daily.
"Alright then! Hold on tight, let’s hurry there! We’ll eat afterward!" Xu Er grinned, hoping she’d be touched.
The car sped to an open, spacious park, where Xu Er parked.
Shasha curiously looked around, secretly bemused, wondering if this guy was mimicking other couples going for romantic strolls in parks?
She opened the car door and stepped out. Xu Er remained seated. "Co out! What are you doing there?"
Xu Er pretended to search around the dashboard. "I think I lost my phone."
Shasha joined in, rummaging through the car. "Did you check your pockets or soplace nearby?"
Making a show of it, Xu Er patted down his pants pockets. "Nope! Oh, wait—I think I left it in the trunk! Shasha, could you check for ?"
Shasha stood with hands on her hips. "You! Always so forgetful! Fine, sure!" She walked toward the rear of the car, completely unaware of the victory gesture Xu Er made secretly.
Through the rearview mirror, Xu Er watched as Bai Shasha prepared to open the trunk. At the last mont, he got out and said his phone had been found!
Angrily, Shasha stomped her foot in frustration. "Are you ssing with ?"
Xu Er hurried to her side. "Don’t be mad! I just found it! No worries, you can still open the trunk—let’s grab a bottle of water."
With a pout, Shasha popped open the trunk. Instantly, the sight of sweet surprises flooded her vision: heart-shaped balloons flew out, leaving behind the heart-shaped rose arrangent. She was stunned!
Monts ago, she had sensed sothing unusual, but since Xu Er had never done anything overly romantic before, she dismissed the notion!
Standing before such a scene, she was genuinely moved!
Taking advantage of those few seconds of her shock, Xu Er swiftly pulled out the engagent ring, dropped to one knee, and proposed with heartfelt words: "Shasha! I’m so excited at this mont, yet I don’t know how to express it. Those scripted lines I morized are long forgotten.

As he finished, Xu Er’s heart pounded fiercely, his mouth dry and palms sweaty. Thankfully, everything went smoothly without further mishaps!
Bai Shasha felt both amused and touched to the point of tears. However, she couldn’t shake her fear of marriage.
