Li Si finished her al and, as usual, lay on her side to take a nap. Her belly was getting bigger, with her due date fast approaching, so her current mantra was to eat well, sleep well, and stay in a good mood.
As for the upcoming New Year festivities, they didn’t bother her at all since Jiang Tong and Aunt Liu were in charge of purchasing all the goods.
This would be the first New Year since the two of them got married. Normally, they should be visiting relatives and friends, exchanging blessings, and collecting red envelopes, but given Li Si’s condition, everything had to be skipped.
When Li Si groggily woke up, she gently rubbed her rounded belly, feeling utterly content.
At that mont, the door was quietly pushed open. Leng Mochen peeked in, and seeing she was awake, he smiled and asked, "Hungry?"
Li Si groaned dramatically and covered her eyes with her arm, choosing to ignore him.
This man was truly treating her like a pig to be raised!
Leng Mochen quickly stepped forward, got to her side, and tenderly pulled her arm away. "Look, it’s already almost four in the afternoon, my dear wife! You can’t keep sleeping!"
If you keep sleeping like this, what happens at bedti tonight?
"Then pull up!" Li Si said playfully, planting herself firmly where she lay like she had no intention of moving unless he helped. She was now over 130 pounds—let’s see how he managed to pull her!
Leng Mochen teasingly tapped her nose. "You! Always tornting your poor husband!"
Though he said that, he still gently helped her up. "Good girl! Co on, get moving!"
Saying that, he even helped her find her slippers.
Li Si shook her head helplessly. After that nap, her head felt heavy. She yawned and looked at him as he crouched down to slip her feet into the slippers. His hair was jet-black, and the style near his temples was especially sharp. From his profile, he even looked a bit like Gu Tianle!
"Darling! You’re so handso! And you’re so kind!" Li Si draped her arms around his neck, acting spoiled. She’d always known that there was soone in this world like him, soone who would devote himself entirely to her.
Leng Mochen held her small hand and playfully teased, "You’re just realizing how great I am now? Hm?"
"What do you an! Haven’t I always known? Anyway, I had braised pork for lunch, so I’m not too hungry right now," Li Si said, glancing out of the window, noticing it hadn’t yet gotten dark outside. "How about you take for a walk?"
Leng Mochen helped her up and nodded with a grin. "Alright! In this house, you’re the boss now! Whatever you say is law!"
Li Si wrinkled her nose. "Then why aren’t you carrying out my orders imdiately, Little Lengzi!"
"Yes, ma’am!"
"Haha!" Li Si felt incredibly cheery.
Calling it a walk was more like strolling around the villa area at a leisurely pace. The villas at Jinyuan were now nearly all occupied.
Tomorrow was the minor New Year’s Eve, so the neighborhood was festively decorated and soaked in a strong holiday vibe. Leng Mochen noticed the way she naturally held her belly as she walked and smiled. "Want to hear sothing interesting?"
Li Si tilted her head to look at him, blinking mischievously. "It’s not that business in North City again, is it?"
By now, it had beco an amusing little topic between them, and the lively drama was indeed entertaining.
Li Si already knew about Zhou Rou using her na to get closer to Li Guozhi. On the one hand, she lanted Zhou Rou’s despicable behavior, but on the other, she applauded Leng Mochen’s unexpected intervention.
What she didn’t know was how much of a fight the Wang i mother-daughter duo could put up—might they end up tearing Zhou Rou apart themselves?
Leng Mochen wrapped his arm around her shoulder, matching her steps as they slowly walked, softly updating her on the latest developnts.
After discovering the truth, Zhou Rou didn’t imdiately retaliate against Li Fei. Instead, she sent Mrs. Zhou to have a proper talk with Mr. Han Sr.
The focus of their discussion was clear: Mrs. Zhou didn’t care about anything else—only about Mr. Han Sr. himself.
However, what had already transpired was too unacceptable, so Zhang ihua and Li Fei had to sincerely apologize to Zhou Rou’s mother and her.
After all, they were at fault. If Li Fei hadn’t ddled, perhaps there wouldn’t have been so much subsequent drama!
Zhou Rou didn’t care whether she and Han Mingxue ended up together or not—at the very least, Li Fei wouldn’t be involved anymore, right?
Mr. Han Sr., upon thinking things over, realized this was indeed the case. Ultimately, the root cause of everything was Li Fei’s misplaced affections. If she hadn’t acted on those thoughts, could all this chaos have occurred?
So, he felt Mrs. Zhou’s point was entirely valid.
He also started to harbor so dissatisfaction toward Zhang ihua and Li Fei.
When Zhang ihua and Li Fei learned about Mr. Han Sr.’s stance, they were equally furious and shocked!
Zhang ihua had initially thought that the mont Mrs. Zhou found out about Han Mingxue and Mr. Han Sr.’s family ties, she would absolutely cut things off with him.
She hadn’t expected them to take it so lightly! Even if Han Mingxue couldn’t beco her son-in-law, accepting him as a nephew was still fine!
Li Fei, of course, refused to apologize to Zhou Rou! What had she done wrong? If anyone lost out badly, it was Li Fei, wasn’t it?
Now everyone was criticizing her, claiming she was in the wrong—why on earth?
Still, financial status dictated the power of speech, and Li Guofu had a trump card. He said plainly, if they didn’t want to resolve things, they could just return the car imdiately.
Li Fei was instantly deflated. After all, she’d worked hard to achieve the lifestyle where she could buy whatever she wanted. Why should she suddenly go back to struggling?
Ever since she got the car, her old classmates, friends—even casual acquaintances—all started treating her differently!
She was constantly being invited out; her social calendar was packed every single day. If all of that were suddenly gone, how could she face the world?
Weighing the pros and cons, Li Fei reluctantly accepted defeat and, accompanied by Zhang ihua, went to et Zhou Rou and her mother.
Of course, Zhou Rou and her mother ca prepared. In front of Mr. Han Sr., they seed particularly understanding and reasonable, both sides putting on a show of reconciliation.
But once Mr. Han Sr. was called away by the front desk manager, Zhou Rou imdiately stepped forward and slapped Li Fei twice across the face!
Zhang ihua and Li Fei went absolutely berserk, ready to fight back, but Zhou Rou’s words froze them in place.
"If you’re not afraid of everyone discovering that Li Fei had an illicit relationship with Han Mingxue, who is her blood relative, then go ahead and co at !"
Zhang ihua was the first to catch on, sneering, "So this is what you were planning today, huh?"
She had suspected all along—how could a simple apology settle the matter?
Turns out, this was their true goal!
Still, if it were anyone else, Zhang ihua might feel so hesitation, but facing Zhou Rou? She wasn’t intimidated in the slightest.
"Li Fei! Up to now, you still don’t feel the least bit guilty toward ? If it weren’t for you, how could I have broken up with Ah Xue?" Zhou Rou shrieked.
Just thinking about the days after her breakup with Han Mingxue filled her with overwhelming resentnt toward Li Fei.
Li Fei’s hand was discreetly squeezed by Zhang ihua, calming her down just enough to suppress her urge to explode. She lowered her eyes submissively and replied, "Zhou Rou, I know you hate ! But at the ti, it wasn’t my fault! You broke up with him, and when I went back to retrieve my things, he confessed to and pursued !
I was caught in the situation! Besides, look at where I am now—I haven’t gained anything from it, have I?"
Inside, Li Fei was seething. This wretched woman dared to lay a hand on her! But rembering her mother’s advice before coming here, she managed to hold herself back.
Yes, they might have grudges and conflicts, but who in this world could possibly bear hatred against money?
If the mother-daughter pair from the Zhou Family weren’t greedy for wealth, knowing full well that Mr. Han Sr. was Han Mingxue’s biological uncle, how could they still shalessly carry on?
Therefore, Zhang ihua had instructed Li Fei that, regardless of the circumstances, she had to appear submissive. After all, when Mr. Han Sr. eventually passed away, with only Li Guofu as his sole heir, how could the Zhou mother-daughter duo possibly inherit all his wealth?
It was simply laughable! If Mr. Han Sr. truly intended sothing like that, he wouldn’t have recognized Li Guofu in the first place!
