Heizi, who was being closely monitored by several factions, was still working overti. A few days ago, a heinous murder occurred in Yongguang District. Despite extensive investigations, no new progress had been made in the case. He hadn’t been ho for three days straight.

If it weren’t for that child, Zhou Zhi, calling him on the landline at ho, Heizi might have completely forgotten about him.

"Uncle! When are you coming ho?" Zhou Zhi hesitated for a long ti before making the call. Ever since he ca to C City, Uncle Heizi had arranged for him to stay in his two-bedroom apartnt.

But it had been several days, and Heizi still hadn’t returned. There was only a carton of yogurt left in the fridge, and even the instant noodles in the kitchen were down to the last package.

If his leg wasn’t in a cast making it hard to move around, he would have gone out for so fresh air long ago.

Heizi pinched the bridge of his nose in exhaustion. He really had forgotten about the kid in the chaos of his work. Apologetically, he said, "Da Zhi, sorry, I’ve been so busy! Here’s the deal—I’ll make so ti to co back soon, alright? Is it because there’s nothing to eat at ho?"

"Yes!" Zhou Zhi softly replied, his voice a little embarrassed.

"Got it! I’ll head back shortly!" Heizi hung up the phone and stretched with a groan. "Ugh!" His back and waist ached. This was a good excuse to go out, buy so food for the kid, and get so fresh air.

Just as he was about to leave his office, a subordinate arrived with a voiceprint analysis report for the cassette tape previously sent for examination. The engineers had perford a series of analyses, and the results were finally out.

Heizi’s spirits lifted. Voiceprint analysis technology was incredibly advanced, capable of discerning personal characteristics like height, body type, age, and even regional origin through just a voice.

Hopefully, this would uncover a new lead.

What? Heizi stared intently at the report, frozen in place. His mind started racing, piecing together the clues with the physical traits of the three suspects they had apprehended that day.

A bold theory began to form as he sifted through the details.

He imdiately ordered his team to sample the voices of the three n detained and compare them to the voice on the cassette tape from back then, hoping for a breakthrough.

After organizing everything, he slapped his forehead. He had gotten so absorbed in work that he nearly forgot again. Quickly, he called over a subordinate, handed him 300 yuan, and asked him to buy so food and have it delivered to his ho.

If the comparison yielded results, the case might see a major turning point.

...

Li Si woke up from a blissful night’s sleep. Leng Mochen wasn’t ho, but he had left a sticky note on the fridge with his bold, elegant handwriting: "Drink warm honey water first when you wake up. Breakfast prepared with love is in the microwave!"

She couldn’t help but smile. He was always so considerate yet domineering. Knowing she’d been struggling with a bit of constipation recently, he insisted on making her drink honey water every day because he’d heard it helped.

Honestly, it wasn’t a big deal—she just didn’t like eating brothy food, and it only started happening in the later stages of her pregnancy. Drinking so mystical water from her space could probably fix it.

Before she even finished her breakfast, Bai Shasha called.

"Hey, gorgeous! Miss ?" Li Si put her phone on speaker and kept chatting while she ate.

"Miss you? Of course! By the way, Si, are you free? Co with to get my laptop fixed, will you?"

Li Si couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "Shasha, Xu Er knows how to fix laptops. Why do you need to go sowhere else to get it done?"

What, she didn’t want to trouble soone in her own household? Why go out of her way for this?

"Oh, co on! Just tell if you’ll co or not! And after it’s fixed, I’ll treat you to a al! I just got my paycheck yesterday—it’s still fresh! Listen, this is a limited-ti offer!"

"Alright, alright! Where are you? I’ll co find you!" Li Si quickly agreed. She knew Bai Shasha always felt bad about constantly making her treat, so as soon as she got paid, she wanted to return the favor. Since Li Si wasn’t busy, she was more than happy to oblige.

She quickly tidied up and called Jiang Tong along, then drove straight to Bai Shasha’s place.

After picking her up, the two won chattered away nonstop in the car. It was only then that Li Si learned, through Shasha’s hushed remarks, why she didn’t let Xu Er fix the laptop.

It turned out she was afraid Xu Er might snoop through her private files while repairing it.

Li Si facepald. The image of Xu Er in Shasha’s mind was really... not great.

At the computer repair center, the two casually picked a shop that looked big and reputable. While Shasha got her laptop fixed, Li Si wandered around the shop, with Jiang Tong dutifully trailing behind her.

Finding nothing interesting, she circled back to Shasha’s side. "What’s wrong with it?" she asked, eyeing the technician fiddling with the laptop.

"Says the hard drive’s broken—needs a replacent!" Shasha glanced at Jiang Tong standing behind Li Si, then leaned over to whisper teasingly, "Hey, you’ve really got that rich wife vibe going on these days!"

"Get lost!" Li Si playfully scolded, laughing. "This is just a special circumstance, alright?"

If it weren’t for the fact that the mastermind still hadn’t been caught, she’d hate having to be followed everywhere. It felt so suffocating.

But for the sake of safety—hers and the baby’s—she had no choice but to endure it for now.

"Got it! Co on, let’s sit over there for a bit. I’ve got to protect my precious panda buddy!" The store had a glass coffee table and green chairs set up for custors, looking clean and refreshing.

"Alright! Xu Er’s influence seems to be rubbing off on you—you’ve got a good eye now!" Li Si teased her.

"Ugh, shut up!" Shasha rolled her eyes. She’d always had good taste, thank you very much—it had nothing to do with that blockhead Xu Er!

Sitting down, Shasha held Li Si’s hand with a big smile. "Si, would you say you’re happy right now?"

"Yes, very happy!" Li Si nodded sweetly. Despite the original owner’s cold case and the current Life and Death Tribulation, she felt that getting through these obstacles would only make her even happier in the end!

Shasha’s eyes suddenly lit up. "Hey, that’s a great idea! Si, what do you think about conducting a survey and asking people: Are you happy? Everyone’s answers would be so different—what a killer concept for a news article! Oh my gosh, how am I this brilliant!"

Li Si burst out laughing. Honestly, she did have so talent. Wasn’t this just that classic interview question?

She still rembered a news segnt where soone gave an absurdly funny answer. The reporter asked, "Are you happy?" and the person replied, "I’m surnad Zeng!"

Actually, the person’s surna was Jiao—he’d just been too polite to correct them.

Shasha wasn’t having it. "Why are you laughing? Isn’t my idea good?" Her sudden burst of creativity only made her think it was even better the more she mulled it over.

Li Si straightened her expression. "It’s great! I was just laughing at sothing funny that happened! How about this—we do a little roleplay?"

"Sure! Si, you’re the best!" Shasha glanced around. If it weren’t for all the people nearby, she would’ve hugged her supportive friend on the spot.

Shasha cleared her throat. "Ahem, here we go! Let’s start. Miss, can I ask you a question?"

"Sure!"

"Are you happy?"

Li Siqiang clenched her teeth and replied with deadpan seriousness, "My surna is Li!" Then she couldn’t hold it in any longer and burst out laughing, making Shasha pause for a mont before joining in with uncontrollable laughter!

Just then, the repair technician called out to Shasha, "Miss, your laptop’s ready!"

"Oh, great!" Shasha responded with a cheerful shout in that direction.

Still laughing, the two walked out of the shop together, ready for their next plan: food.

As they debated where to eat, they hadn’t even stepped out of the computer repair center before running into soone familiar. (To be continued.
