Zhang ihua seed very excited, she truly hadn’t expected such a coincidence, eting them here. So, Li Si might have just returned. She wondered, though, how long she’d be staying.
She rushed forward and exaggeratedly said, "Oh my! Li Si’s back? Did you bring your boyfriend along to visit your father?"
Li Si gave them a cold glance and intended to brush past them without stopping. She already knew that whenever she ca across mbers of the Li family, they would pop up just like mushrooms after the rain.
Li Fei bit down on her lower lip, her eyes flashing with deep jealousy—why? What was so great about Li Si? The man beside her guy hadn’t dumped her and was even engaged to her.
Thinking about what her father had ntioned, that Li Si was about to marry into a wealthy family while she herself was stuck with soone like ng Zijun, a small nobody with neither money nor power, the stark contrast was almost unbearable.
If you really compared them, how was she worse than Li Si?
"Li Si, what’s your problem? So rude! My mom’s talking to you, and you didn’t hear her, huh?" Li Fei, annoyed that Li Si was walking past without batting an eye, called out angrily.
Already, the advice Li Guofu and Zhang ihua had given her at ho earlier had been completely tossed to the back of her mind.
At this mont, all she cared about was making the man accompanying Li Si think poorly of her. She believed wealthy people placed great importance on manners.
Zhang ihua, irritated, yanked at her clothes forcefully. "You child, what’s wrong with you? How can you speak to your sister like that? Apologize imdiately!"
Li Fei brushed off her arm angrily, "Did I say anything wrong? Why should I apologize? She’s the one being disrespectful! No matter what, Li Si should at least address you politely as ’Second Aunt,’ right?
She’s obviously climbed up the social ladder and now looks down on everyone!"
Li Si stopped in her tracks at this mont and turned to look at her, curling her lips in a sneer of pride. "Apologize? No need! Just rember that we have absolutely no relation to each other. I don’t have a sister!"
And with that, she didn’t care what this mother-daughter pair still wanted to say and quickly left, clutching Leng Mochen’s arm.
What a joke—she had already restrained herself by not cursing them the mont she saw them. And now they were acting as though nothing had happened? Like she was the sa as in her past life?
"Hey! Li Si! When will you go visit your grandmother? The old lady’s been missing you!" Zhang ihua called out, chasing after them for several steps, only to see the two get into a black luxury car without looking back and drive off.
She poked Li Fei’s forehead resentfully, "You child, what am I going to do with you? You’ve managed to ruin what could’ve been a good thing! Would it kill you to just keep quiet?"
She simply couldn’t understand it. She herself, she thought, was fairly cunning, and Li Guofu wasn’t a fool either. Yet, how had they produced such a daughter, soone with such an impulsive temperant when facing matters?
With a personality like hers, even if she actually ended up in a wealthy family one day, what good could possibly result from it? Wouldn’t she end up being taken advantage of, left with not even a scrap of dignity?
Zhang ihua was now deeply doubting those thoughts she’d had just the previous night.
Li Fei stubbornly stiffened her neck. "What’s wrong with ? All you guys do is suck up to Li Si just because she found a rich guy.
Mom, today I swear to you—I’ll definitely find soone richer than Li Si’s fiancé. Just you wait. Your daughter is absolutely no worse than her!"
Whenever Li Fei thought about how serious her parents had sounded this morning while giving her those instructions, she got angry. It had never been like this before. What was so special about Li Si? What did she have? Now she had rely found a rich fiancé—that’s it. Comparatively, Li Fei still had her parents; Li Si had no one.
She refused to believe it—how could she, who was no worse than Li Si in any way, not be able to find soone better?
Zhang ihua clearly didn’t believe her. "You’re not going to continue seeing ng Zijun, then?"
She had never agreed with Li Fei dating ng Zijun in the first place. Sure, the guy looked handso enough, but his family’s circumstances were far too poor.
One of her colleagues from the factory was ng Zijun’s neighbor, so she knew a bit about his situation at ho.
She’d heard the family didn’t have much money. Apparently, there was an uncle or relative who had so wealth, but so what? Just because a relative was well-off didn’t an his family was. When it ca to marrying and buying a house, would that person step in to help with the costs?
But this girl refused to listen. And now that she’d been so riled up, if it actually resulted in her figuring things out, that would be great.
Still, she worried that her mindset was overly impulsive. If it led to sothing problematic, especially with her being a girl, the consequences could last a lifeti. That’s why she was now internally rejecting the idea of Li Fei heading to Beijing—a decision she’d half-agreed with last night.
Li Fei looked toward the direction where Li Si had left, nodding fiercely and gritting her teeth. "I won’t continue with him! What’s the point? He can’t even afford a house! I’m going to Beijing too. I heard there are plenty of rich people there, and it’ll be easier to make money!"
Even though she felt conflicted, as soon as she thought about Li Si living in a villa in the future, chauffeured around in luxury cars, while she’d be stuck with ng Zijun in so tiny apartnt—perhaps even sharing it with his mother—her sense of injustice intensified.
There was no way Li Fei would settle for such a poor and miserable life. That wasn’t supposed to be her fate. She ought to be living elegantly in a villa, enjoying the service of housemaids.
Zhang ihua saw the complex emotions flashing across her daughter’s face. Worried about a decision made in the heat of the mont, she hesitated to agree and tried to offer so counsel. "Fei’er, if you don’t want to be with ng Zijun anymore, Mom supports you! But heading so far away? I can’t agree with that!
I’m being pragmatic here. In Beijing, you wouldn’t have any connections or roots. Even if there are lots of wealthy people, it’s not like you can run into them so easily.
Besides, Mom still hopes you’ll stay close to us. If anything happens, we can help take care of you!"
Thinking it through, she realized that with Li Si’s current attitude, even if Fei’er did approach her in Beijing, Li Si probably wouldn’t help. So, it would be better to stay grounded and plan things slowly from ho.
If going to Beijing was in the cards, it should only be after Fei’er and Li Si’s relationship had smoothed out.
Li Fei impatiently waved her hand. "Mom, don’t say anymore. I’ve already decided. My classmate has found an internship in Beijing, and I’m going with her!
The two of us will look out for one another. What are you so worried about?"
"I’m just worried that you’ll be taken advantage of or end up suffering while away. My initial thought was, if we saw Li Si today, we could talk to her and ask her to help you find a job..."
Before Zhang ihua could finish her sentence, Li Fei interrupted angrily, "If you still consider your daughter, then don’t you dare ask her for help! That Zhou Rou—she only graduated from high school and still managed to find a rich, handso boyfriend. Why can’t I?"
Li Fei believed Zhou Rou was nothing special—she might look decent, but her academic credentials were only high school-level. Compared to her, Zhou Rou was outclassed. After all, Li Fei was a university graduate.
What Li Fei said struck a chord with Zhang ihua. Back when Zhou Rou’s mother always tried to compete with her, Zhang ihua had consistently edged her out. But recently, she’d heard that Zhou Rou had found a wealthy boyfriend—not only was his family huge and prosperous, but he was also handso and treated Zhou Rou exceptionally well.
Zhang ihua was bitterly jealous, especially when she saw how Zhou Rou’s mother flaunted jewelry and luxury bags. Her envy was reaching its peak.
While Li Guofu had always treated her well, he’d never bought her even a single luxury handbag.
"So, are we still going to visit your uncle?" Zhang ihua stopped opposing her daughter’s plans. Li Fei knew her words had touched a nerve and decided to push further.
"No!" What was the point of going there? Nothing worth seeing. Today’s visit was just for show anyway.
