As Li Si, Su ng, and Long Wu walked out, her phone rang. Glancing at it, she saw it was Leng Mochen calling her—asking her to return to Fengye Residence imdiately and give Long Wu a chance.
Li Si finished listening and, pretending to know nothing, casually said to Su ng, "ng ng, Mochen asked to go back to the house near our school for sothing. Looks like I won’t be able to drop you off after all!"
Long Wu imdiately caught on. "Leng Er must have sothing urgent to discuss with you. You go ahead first; I promise to get ng ng ho safe and sound!"
In fact, when he went out to retrieve the disk earlier, he had secretly tipped off Leng Er. If he didn’t seize an opportunity this good, he might as well buy so tofu and knock himself out with it.
"Brother Wu, thanks a lot then! ng ng, let’s catch up soti soon!" Li Si swiftly handed over Su ng’s loot to Long Wu and hurriedly got into her car to drive off.
Su ng watched Li Si’s hurried departure with a sorrowful expression, then silently got into Long Wu’s car. How could she not see through all this scheming?
Long Wu drove incredibly slowly the entire way—practically at a crawl. He wished he could stretch the distance between here and Su ng’s ho indefinitely.
Though the two didn’t exchange many words along the way, the atmosphere was significantly better than before. At least it wasn’t as unbearably tense.
Even the longest roads will eventually co to an end, and this one wasn’t far to begin with.
Long Wu frowned as he reluctantly parked the car at the base of the high-rise building. He got out and attentively opened the car door for Su ng. A surprised voice from behind successfully brought a wide grin to his face.
Mrs. Su’s incredulous voice rang out, "Wensong? Why are you coming back with ng ng?"
She imdiately felt like she’d said sothing wrong; after all, ng ng being escorted back by him wasn’t a bad thing—quite the opposite, it was what she’d been hoping for!
Long Wu flashed a harmless smile. "Auntie, we happened to run into each other. Sisi had sothing urgent to attend to, so I brought ng ng back. By the way, where are you off to?"
He noticed her travel-worn appearance; her pants and shoes were dusty, but her expression was surprisingly cheerful and brimming with happiness.
Mrs. Su warmly grabbed his hand. "Wensong, co upstairs with . Since you’re here, you’re in luck! Our new house has finally been handed over. All the procedures are completed—we just need to finish the renovations, and we’ll be ready to move in!"
"Auntie, I’ll take care of the renovations!" Long Wu thought Mrs. Su was simply wonderful. If he could really marry ng ng, he’d make sure to show proper gratitude to such an amazing mother-in-law!
Mrs. Su quickly waved her hands. "No need, no need! Wensong, listen to Auntie. You’ve already done so much for our family; this ti, let us handle it ourselves.
I have so money saved with ng ng, and we don’t need anything extravagant or opulent—we’ll be fine with a simple, cozy renovation. My forr neighbor signed for the unit next door, so we can even trade ideas during renovations! Anyway, I’m truly happy today. Let’s head upstairs!"
Long Wu saw how insistent she was, so he simply smiled and nodded.
Su ng noticed how delighted her mom was and didn’t want to ruin the mood, so she just smiled without saying much.
Mrs. Su was chatting away happily with Long Wu, but her gaze never strayed from Su ng. Seeing her daughter finally less resistant, her heart felt sweeter than honey.
Entering the elevator, swapping her shoes, and walking inside—all done in one seamless flow—Mrs. Su headed straight for the kitchen, ready to show off her culinary skills. She wanted to properly treat Long Wu while also celebrating their new house renovations being nearly finished!
To the older generation, a house was always the most important thing. Even though she claid living with Li Si was to help keep an eye on the place, she appreciated Li Si’s kindness. However, she didn’t want to continue living there forever.

Early that morning before she left the house, she’d already thawed the ribs, fish, and other frozen ingredients, preparing everything for Li Si and ng ng’s return. Once they arrived, she wasted no ti cooking for them.
