Mr. Leng said angrily, "At a ti like this, you still have the energy to send off Li Si and her group? What is truly important here? Absolutely clueless! And Li Si, too—causing trouble without showing a shred of responsibility. I really don’t understand what your beloved son sees in her!"

If he had felt even a hint of guilt toward Li Si before, now, after seeing John’s pitiful appearance, his heart was filled entirely with dissatisfaction and reproach toward her.

Even if the child was naive, how could an adult stoop to arguing with a kid? Furthermore, this child was Mochen’s own biological son.

Speaking of Leng Mochen, he was upset with him as well. As parents, they had acted selfishly, going ahead with a paternity test without his consent. But couldn’t he show so understanding for their intentions as elders?

He was already over thirty, yet he still didn’t have any offspring. He and Li Si hadn’t been together just for a day or two, but there hadn’t been any signs of pregnancy at all.

At tis, he even secretly speculated whether that severe car accident years ago had left his son unable to have children.

You couldn’t bla him for overthinking—it was simply the reality staring him in the face.

He only had one son. If there were no descendants, then wouldn’t their family line cease to exist after his passing?

So when he learned there might be a five-year-old grandson, he couldn’t contain his overwhelming excitent, feeling as though heaven had answered his prayers and sent him a grandson.

That way, even if his son couldn’t have children in the future, he wouldn’t have to worry. He could raise his grandson, nurture his talent for painting, and perhaps the Leng Family might produce a master-level artist.

Mrs. Leng slightly regretted saying so much; she should have talked only about Li Si. After all, her son was her pride. While Mr. Leng’s expression shifted unpredictably, she speculated he might even be blaming their son now.

Qian Rouxuan had been sitting beside John, comforting him while attentively listening to their conversation.

At that mont, she noticed Mrs. Leng trying to speak up for Leng Mochen but hesitating to do so. A gentle smile curved her lips.

"Uncle, please don’t bla Mochen. He simply acted out of concern. After all, if it wasn’t for John’s excessive curiosity, the monkey wouldn’t have scratched him, and Li Si wouldn’t have lost face in front of her friends.

Aunt already scolded Li Si just monts ago, and I believe she acted out of urgency, which made her sowhat impulsive. I’m sure once she calms down, she’ll definitely co to the hospital to visit John. After all, she does seem like a relatively kind-hearted girl!"

Her words offered a simple explanation for the situation while painting Li Si as soone rash and inconsiderate. They only added fuel to the fire in Mr. Leng’s anger.

Mrs. Leng cast a strange glance at Qian Rouxuan. While she wasn’t too bothered by Qian Rouxuan’s comnts about Li Si, her interpretation of John’s injury subtly sidestepping the fact that she had teased the monkey first irked Mrs. Leng.

She had thought that becoming a mother would change Qian Rouxuan for the better, but as it turns out, she was still the sa.

The reason she hadn’t liked Qian Rouxuan in years past was precisely because of her scheming nature and her tendency to manipulate everything.

Clearly, she had misjudged; her aging eyes had dulled. How could she have recently thought Rouxuan had matured into soone good? Mrs. Leng reflexively glanced at John, whose adorable obedience had seemingly blinded her.

If it weren’t for John’s constant praises about how strong and kind Rouxuan was, how could her impression of her have shifted so quickly?

Thinking it through, it would be better to raise John by her side and limit his exposure to Rouxuan. Otherwise, her precious grandson might end up being influenced poorly.

And eventually, the result ca back with no issues.

They began debating where John should stay. Mrs. Leng and Mr. Leng naturally hoped the child would return to their ho since, with everything that had happened, they worried about how the child might feel. However, John, clearly frightened, would cry and scream for his "Mommy" the mont he was separated from Qian Rouxuan.

Ultimately, they had no choice but to bring both Qian Rouxuan and John back ho together.

The Leng Family.

Qian Rouxuan held John in her arms on his small white bed, gently narrating a bedti story from the book in her hand.

John touched his mother’s face and softly asked, "Mommy, are you happy?"

Qian Rouxuan didn’t expect her child to ask such a question. Confronted with his innocent gaze, she suddenly wondered if she might have done sothing wrong.

He was so young, yet he was already capable of becoming her little helper. Could it be that in the future...

But in an instant, she dismissed this thought. She couldn’t afford misplaced rcy. If she truly succeeded in marrying into this family, not only would she achieve the luxurious life she had always dread of, but John would also have a promising future. Given how much the Leng parents adored him, wouldn’t everything eventually fall into his lap?

"Mommy is happy! John is amazing! Now, tell Mommy, how did you co up with pretending to be scared?" At the hospital earlier, even she, as his mother, had been fooled.

She genuinely thought he’d been frightened out of his wits, her mind blanking entirely, consud by hatred toward Li Si and the monkey—if they had been in front of her, she might not have resisted slapping them to vent her anger!

But upon returning to the Leng Family residence, when John had the elders wrapped around his finger, she noticed the subtle hint in his gaze.

John turned his head seriously toward Qian Rouxuan and said, "I wanted to protect Mommy! Because I’m a little man!" Though he was rely a five-year-old in the eyes of adults, he was remarkably sensitive and precociously aware. From a young age, he had understood that he was different from other children.

Other kids had both parents, grandparents, and many other relatives.

But he didn’t. He had only his mom by his side.

When he realized he had a father but that another woman had stolen him away, he silently resolved to use whatever he could to help his mother get back to his father.

Moved to tears, Qian Rouxuan said, "Mommy loves you!" She truly had an amazing son.

anwhile, Jiang Feng, having obtained a sample of the blood, went straight to the previously selected testing center to submit the sample. Many things were moving forward thodically.
