At this exact mont, his ex-girlfriend showed up at his door, claiming she was pregnant! Before he could say anything, ng ng stord out of the house, angrily questioning him about what was going on.
The ex-girlfriend accused Su ng of being a mistress, ruining their relationship. Now that she had his child, she hoped Su ng would step aside.
The argunt escalated, and the two won began to physically fight. Long Wu was stunned at the scene—on one hand, worried ng ng would get hurt, and on the other, afraid the ex-girlfriend might miscarry, which would only complicate matters further. So, he stepped in and shoved Su ng lightly to try to calm her down.
But that shove led to ng ng giving him a cold, piercing look. She uttered, "You’ll regret this," and stord off in anger. He wanted to chase after her, but the ex-girlfriend blocked him from leaving. In his frustration, he slapped the woman, broke free, and went after ng ng.
He ran for a long ti but couldn’t find her anywhere. Finally, he saw a crowd gathered on the road and rushed over, only to find Su ng lying on the ground holding her stomach in agony. Panicked, he brought her to the hospital imdiately.
It was then he learned that Su ng was pregnant with his child. She had been happily waiting at ho to share the news with him but had received the ex-girlfriend’s ssage and witnessed the commotion instead.
But it was too late. Not only was the baby lost, but her uterus was severely injured, making future pregnancies unlikely.
Since then, Su ng seed utterly broken, spending her days in silence. One day, out of nowhere, she returned to normal, talked to him at length, and expressed her wish to travel alone to clear her mind.
Looking back, the biggest regret of his life was letting her go that ti and not insisting on accompanying her. Eventually, she disappeared without a trace. No matter how hard he tried to find her, he couldn’t.
Her parents thought she had gone traveling to avoid the situation, and he sotis clung to that hope too. Nonetheless, he kept searching tirelessly but to no avail.
Li Si and Leng Mochen exchanged a glance after hearing his account.
"As for what happened later, you already know. Luckily, Sisi saved her; otherwise, amid a sea of faces, I might’ve never found her!" Long Wu finished speaking and used his arm to cover his eyes, hiding his emotions.
"Brother Wu, I feel you should have an honest conversation with ng ng and explain everything afterward. If it’s just a misunderstanding..."
Li Si trailed off, realizing it was hard to continue that thought. Fate was cruel; regardless of who was right or wrong, the one who suffered the most was Su ng.
Being bullied and deceived for so many years, she had endured that kind of life—one that, even unspoken, could be imagined as unbearably difficult and full of pain.
If it were her in Su ng’s shoes, having faced such hardships, forgiveness wouldn’t co easily—even if the other person wasn’t entirely to bla.
"Wu, things like this take ti. It’s not sothing you can rush!" Leng Mochen chid in, trying to console him. As a friend, even he couldn’t co up with any good solutions.
Long Wu lowered his arm and forced a smile that feigned strength. "It’s fine! You know —I’ll take my ti. If one year doesn’t work, I’ll wait for two. If two doesn’t work, I’ll wait for five. Her wounded, icy heart will be ward by soday!"
Li Si looked at his forced smile and felt a pang of sorrow. Sohow, his carefree, mischievous attitude seed more fitting—at least it was easier to watch.
"Heizi found anything?" Leng Mochen grabbed Li Si’s hand and asked. He hoped that finding the person behind everything might ease ng ng’s hatred toward Long Wu. At the sa ti, he silently thanked fate for allowing him to save Li Si in the past; otherwise, he couldn’t even imagine what she might have gone through.
Long Wu reluctantly moved closer to their seats and shook his head. "He didn’t say much on the phone, just told to wait for his news. Alright then, Leng Er, sorry to take up so much of your ti. I’ll head out first! Let’s hang out another day!"
"Stop trying to act cool! Cut the nonsense and take it easy on yourself!" Leng Mochen gave him a push. "Go ho and take good care of yourself; don’t make us worry about you!"
"Got it, Leng Er, Sisi—I’ll rember that. See you around!" After saying this, he shot them a aningful glance, pretended to be carefree, opened the car door, waved, and drove off.
The two people left in the car sighed simultaneously. Li Si looked at him and asked, "Mochen, will we end up like Long Wu and ng ng soday?"
He answered firmly, "No, we’ll talk openly about everything. If we communicate, there won’t be any problems."
"I hope so!" Her tone carried a hint of uncertainty.
He instinctively pulled her into an embrace, gently soothing her back, and whispered in her ear, "We’ll always be together!"
She closed her eyes, breathing in his scent and murmuring, "Mm!" It was an answer.
When Li Si sent Leng Mochen away, she opened the door and entered the house with a slight unease in her heart. Su ng and her mother were sitting on the fabric sofa in the living room, facing each other, with a strained atmosphere between them.
Seeing her return, ng ng’s mother got up first and greeted warmly, "Sisi, you’re back!"
"Yeah, Auntie, ng ng, you’re both still up?" She made small talk while quietly observing Su ng. Su ng appeared composed, but a shadow of sorrow flashed through her gaze.
"No." ng ng forced a slight smile.
ng ng’s mother glanced at her deeply, sighed inwardly, and forced a smile. "Sisi, Auntie’s feeling a bit tired today—I’ll go rest first. If you’re hungry later, heat up the food."
"No problem, Auntie. You go rest! ng ng and I will sleep later." Li Si reassured her with a pat on the back, watching her as she entered her room.
Li Si turned to sit beside Su ng. "ng ng, what’s wrong?"
Su ng gave a bitter smile and countered, "You already know—why ask ?" She didn’t believe that after chasing Long Wensong away earlier, he wouldn’t have discussed things with Li Si and Leng Mochen.
"I only heard bits and pieces. Brother Wu didn’t go into detail," Li Si explained, a deep sense of helplessness welling up within her.
Su ng closed her eyes montarily before opening them again, apologizing, "Sorry, Li Si. I’m in a bad mood today. If I sounded harsh earlier, I didn’t an it toward you—please don’t take it personally!"
Li Si shook her head. "It’s fine! I understand." She didn’t know how to comfort Su ng or how to fra her words in a way that would resonate with her.
Su ng stared blankly at the wall for a mont before saying, "Want to hear my story?"
"Sure! Should we go to my room?" Great, today’s a story day! Li Si glanced toward ng ng’s mother’s room, worried that Su ng’s words might be overheard.
"Okay, thank you, Li Si!" Su ng nodded gratefully. The two moved quietly into Li Si’s room.
Once inside, Su ng looked at Li Si’s room full of stuffed animals, a flicker of envy crossing her eyes.
"Were all of these gifts?" She picked up a big Mickey Mouse plush and gently stroked it as she asked.
Li Si felt a bit shy and answered softly, "They were all sent by that guy Mochen. Do you want sothing to drink?"
Su ng shook her head. "Li Si, you know, sotis I really envy you—truly! You don’t have the complicated experiences I do; you wouldn’t understand the feeling of wanting to die, of being utterly heartbroken."
"I might not know that feeling, but every family has its own struggles. I may seem fortunate on the outside, but every household has its share of troubles." Li Si sighed. Everyone, she thought, is probably soone else’s admired "scenery."
