Su ng rolled her eyes at her. "Not necessarily!" She thought it could also be Leng Mochen.

Li Si smiled and went to open the door, but standing there were Leng Mochen, Long Wu, and Heizi—three grown n each holding gift boxes, standing awkwardly.

"Eh? Why are you all here together? Co on in!" Li Si knew that Leng Mochen had called earlier that morning to say he’d co by in the evening. That’s why they were having lunch now, but sohow he’d arrived.

"Brother Heizi!" Su ng greeted softly.

"Alright! ng ng, I have sothing to discuss with you. I’ll leave afterward—is that okay?" Heizi spoke in a low voice and gave her a subtle, aningful look.

Through recent inquiries and investigations, Heizi and his team had found clues suggesting the suspect might return to their hotown during the New Year. After staking out the location, they successfully apprehended him at his parents’ ho the night before.

During the interrogation, the suspect confessed that years ago, he had acted under the orders of a woman who had contacted him using a public phone and wired money to his account. The details were consistent with those provided by the tall man.

However, afterward, the woman never contacted him again. He only rembered a young-sounding voice with a Beijing accent, which made him suspect she was a local.

Su ng discreetly glanced at her mother, who was smiling warmly and talking to others, not wanting her to know too much. She feigned calmness and said, "Brother Heizi, let’s talk outside. Let Sisi and the others continue eating!"

"Alright! Auntie, let wish you an early New Year! I hope you stay healthy!" Heizi greeted Mrs. Su for the New Year.

"Thank you! Auntie wishes you a happy New Year too! Why don’t you talk after the al? The dishes are still warm!" Su ng’s mother looked at them quizzically.

Su ng reassured her, "Mom, you all eat first, we’ll co back later to eat!"

Heizi chatted with Mrs. Su for a bit, left the gifts, and then walked out with Su ng.

Li Si leaned in excitedly and whispered to Leng Mochen, "Any progress?"

Leng Mochen nodded. He’d only briefly exchanged a few words with Long Wu and Heizi in the elevator downstairs, so he wasn’t entirely sure of the details.

Long Wu helped Mrs. Su into a dining chair. "Auntie, I wish you good health and a long life!"

"Wensong, Auntie doesn’t ask for much. What’s the point of living a long life? That would just waste food! I just hope my ng ng can be happy in the future!" Mrs. Su gestured for everyone to sit down.

"Auntie, ng ng will surely be happy in the future, don’t worry!" Li Si poured red wine for Leng Mochen and Long Wu.

Long Wu raised his glass. "Exactly! Don’t overthink it! Heizi just has sothing small to discuss with ng ng. He’ll be back soon!"

Mrs. Su set down her glass and looked at them seriously. "You can stop trying to fool ; I can tell there’s sothing you’re hiding from !

New Year is just around the corner, so I won’t say much. No matter what ng ng has been through, in my eyes, she’s a good child! Wensong, today, in front of Sisi and Mochen, I just need a straight answer from you—do you still want to be with my ng ng?"

Long Wu answered without hesitation. "I do! Auntie, I won’t hide it from you—I’ve been thinking lately of how to make ng ng return to . But you know her personality; she always keeps at a distance. So, I..."

Mrs. Su’s face finally showed a smile. "That’s all I needed to hear! Auntie will help you figure this out!"

She knew she was being selfish. No matter what her child had experienced, she still believed she was wonderful. Even though the children were all keeping things from her, she could sense that her daughter had suffered.

Thankfully, Long Wu had remained steadfast, so she wanted to be selfish this ti and ensure her daughter had a good future!

At least, if one day she passed away and joined her husband, ng ng would have soone to protect and care for her.

Although Long Wensong wasn’t soone she watched grow up, his kindness over the years hadn’t gone unnoticed. Despite sotis seeming carefree, she could tell he genuinely loved her daughter, and perhaps her daughter also didn’t completely reject him.

Li Si and Long Wu exchanged a look of mutual understanding. Under the table, one hand gripped tightly, while Li Si responded with a determined look toward Leng Mochen.

He leaned over and whispered softly, "Co with later."

She nodded in agreent but couldn’t help asking out of curiosity, "Where to?"

"You’ll know later," Leng Mochen said, reverting to his calm deanor. Li Si secretly guessed to herself—it might be...

While so continued eating and chatting, Su ng and Heizi went straight to his office. Heizi suggested starting with the people around her to investigate whether it was familiar individuals involved or people she might have offended.

These questions were hard for Su ng to answer. Recently, fragnts of mories had flashed through her mind, but they were trivial and unrelated to the case.

Eventually, Su ng was hypnotized by the hypnotist again, attempting to uncover so clues.

Last ti, the hypnosis only brought her back to the scene of her disappearance. This ti, the hypnotist used age regression to take her back seven years ago when she was 21. Su ng felt like an observer, watching past events unfold before her eyes.

First, she saw a gathering—it seed to be a birthday celebration. There was a cake and a room full of people celebrating.

As she looked at the crowd, she tried to recall each person’s na but struggled. One strikingly beautiful woman with long hair stood out, holding a wine glass.

The scene shifted to her cleaning and cooking at Long Wu’s house. Shortly after, Long Wu returned and looked at her with a complex expression.

Then, the image changed to the front of a villa where she saw a woman with long hair, dressed in red, standing next to Long Wu. The woman handed him a piece of paper, and he looked shocked and disbelieving.

Suddenly, she herself rushed out and snatched the paper away, shouting angrily at Long Wu before storming off.

The final image showed her in pain, clutching her stomach and sitting on the ground surrounded by people. Long Wu picked her up and ran frantically.

When Su ng woke from deep hypnosis, she found her cheeks wet with tears. She wandered out of the hypnotist’s room in a daze.

Heizi rushed up anxiously and asked, "How did it go?"

Su ng shook her head bitterly. "I don’t know!"

The hypnotist, who had been following behind, gave Heizi a helpless look. "Based on her description, both the long-haired woman and the long-haired woman in red seem suspicious."

"ng ng, can you draw portraits of them?" Heizi asked gently, sensing the deep sadness radiating from Su ng.

Su ng nodded weakly. "Give paper and a pen."

She chanically sketched the lingering images in her mind, her heart numb as she thought she finally understood why she was infertile—it must have been because of what happened then. Long Wensong! You...

Heizi studied the sketches she’d drawn, frowning in thought. After a while, he said, "ng ng, I know a little about what happened between you and Long Wu back then. There was definitely so misunderstanding! I heard him ntion it later..."

Su ng interrupted him, staring at him seriously and saying, "Even if there was a misunderstanding, it’s not your place to tell ! If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back. My mom is waiting for at ho to eat. Goodbye!"

"I’ll take you!" Heizi knew she couldn’t process everything right away, so he didn’t force the issue. He drove her straight to Li Si’s building.

After Su ng got out of the car, Heizi slamd the steering wheel in frustration, unsure if the hypnosis would further complicate things between Long Wu and ng ng. He vowed to catch the mastermind quickly and give her closure. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please visit Qidian (qidian) to cast recomndation or monthly votes.
