So...

’He’s here to hold accountable?’

"Your Highness, Prince Ling! Last ti..."

Before she could finish, her wrist was suddenly seized in a tight grip.

Zhou Junlin grabbed her hand, his voice low and strained. "Co with !"

"Hey! Where are we going? Can’t we talk here? Let go of !" Song Lianhe was dragged away, frantically trying to shake off his large hand as if he were so kind of terrifying monster.

This realization made Zhou Junlin’s heart sink even further.

"Miss!"

Ah Jun and Shuang Ye moved to block him, especially Ah Jun, whose eyes had turned red.

Gu Ha shot forward, blocking the two of them.

"His Highness, Prince Ling, wishes to have a word. If you don’t want to die, then get lost!" His tone was full of contempt.

Gu Ha’s temperant was nothing like that of a Shadow Guard. While both were the Prince’s personal guards, their personalities were worlds apart. Gu Ha was more vicious and hot-tempered. He was also an ardent admirer of Song Xilan, so he naturally couldn’t stand to see his master get too close to this Song Lianhe. Even though Zhou Junlin had been the one to approach her, Gu Ha still placed all the bla on her head, treating those around her with extre loathing.

Shuang Ye was so frightened she instinctively took a step back, but Ah Jun didn’t move. The young man’s face flushed red, his chest heaving as he clenched his hands into tight fists. Though his fra was slight, he stood strong and unyielding, his posture straight and resolute.

Gu Ha wasted no words. He drew his sword and pressed it directly against the young man’s neck, applying pressure with each word. "Back. Off!"

Though his thick eyelashes trembled slightly, Ah Jun remained completely still. "If you’ve got the guts, then kill !"

"Don’t..." Shuang Ye reached out to pull him back, but he shook her off.

Shuang Ye was frantic. ’Why is this kid so stubborn?’

Gu Ha narrowed his eyes and sneered. "You’re just as disgusting as your master!"

The sword suddenly thrust forward...

SHHHIIING—

The sound of a sharp blade tearing through the air exploded beside his ear.

Sensing murderous intent from the opposite direction, followed by a fierce gust of wind rushing toward him, Gu Ha instinctively dodged to the side.

In the next instant, a shortsword embedded itself in the wall.

The force was so great that the hum of the blade was almost audible!

He looked up, glaring fiercely at the woman walking out from inside.

She was dressed in tight-fitting black clothes, her long hair tied up high and bound only with a red satin ribbon, its ends fluttering in the wind.

Xuan i fixed her impassive eyes on him, walked past him, and deliberately pulled her sword from the wall before sheathing it. She glanced sideways at Ah Jun. "Leave this to ."

Ah Jun clenched his fists, glanced toward the far end of the back alley, then turned and left.

He knew all too well that it was useless to feel indignant. As he was now, he was no match for them, and staying would only get in Xuan i’s way.

Xuan i stood at the door, cradling her sword. Her tall, slender fra seed to hold boundless power. She regarded him with cold indifference and said, word for word, "If you don’t want to die, get lost."

In stark contrast to the tense standoff here, the scene at the end of the alley was entirely different.

"In a few days, I will be married."

"..."

’So?’

She blinked her big, inquisitive eyes, giving them a little flutter now and then, and stared at him without wavering.

Zhou Junlin first pressed his lips together, then shot her a glare. "Song Lianhe, this is the last chance I’m giving you! If you admit you were wrong, I can let bygones be bygones for all..."

He quickly added, "all past matters."

That, of course, included the ti she had stabbed him with a needle.

Song Lianhe looked away, her brow furrowing slightly. ’Is this still not over?’

Seeing her silent, as if she were deep in thought, he said in a cold voice, "You’d better think this through carefully."

Song Lianhe cut him off with a raised hand. "There’s nothing to think about. I’m not marrying you, and that’s final!" She was about to add a couple of cutting remarks when she happened to turn and suddenly glimpsed a familiar halo... right on top of the wall.

It was the female lead’s halo.

And just like that, Song Lianhe understood everything.

Under Zhou Junlin’s increasingly cold gaze, she curled her lips into a faint smile. "But then again, I’ve thought about it carefully... After all, you’re the man I’ve adored for so long. How could I just forget all my feelings in an instant? Things don’t have to be so absolute. For example, if you just admit that you’ve fallen for , maybe I’ll change my mind~"

Song Lianhe’s smile was like a blooming flower, her features picturesque. Her eyes practically sang with affection, and her every expression was utterly bewitching.

She knew exactly how to get under the female lead’s skin.
