Chapter 649: Chapter 632: Lu Hongjun Arrives in Hong Kong

Lu Jiazong and Second Sister-in-law Lu were very happy to hear that their son could be relocated to the Forty-nine City. Now, their son is in an out-of-province location, and it’s not easy to et him. But if he is relocated to the Forty-nine City, he can be ho during holidays.

Wang Xiaojie said, “Lu Tao’s relocation to the Forty-nine City, your older brother will do his best to arrange it, but he can’t guarantee a hundred percent success. If it doesn’t work out, please don’t bla us.”

Second Sister-in-law Lu’s heart skipped a beat, and she spoke before Lu Jiazong could, “Sister-in-law, even if you and my brother can’t get it done, we are extrely grateful for your efforts.”

All bla falls on her husband, making the family mbers have grievances against him. Fortunately, my brother is concerned about his nephew; otherwise, Lu Tao wouldn’t be able to relocate to the Forty-nine City in this lifeti.

Not fond of Lu Jiazong and afraid he might say sothing unpleasant, Second Sister-in-law Lu sent him to the kitchen to prepare the dishes, letting him know she would cook once they were ready.

Second Sister-in-law Lu said apologetically, “Sister-in-law, he’s just like that, no matter how many tis you scold, it’s of no use. Thankfully, none of the kids take after him; they’re all like their grandfather.”

This ans that the kids will rember their uncle’s kindness, regardless of what Lu Jiazong thinks. However, this wasn’t baseless; Lu Tao indeed knows how to interact. Ever since he started working at the railway bureau, he periodically sends so specialties to them. Though not extravagant, the thought is rare, and thus Wang Xiaojie does not oppose her husband’s intentions to assist him; the help is welcod.

Sister-in-law Lu asked concernedly, “If Taozi moves to the Forty-nine City, could his partner and family have objections? You should communicate ahead of ti.”

Second Sister-in-law Lu sighed, “Taozi and his partner broke up several months ago; the child felt embarrassed and just recently did I find out about it.”

She followed Lu Jiaxin’s advice and went behind Taozi’s back to check on the girl. Turns out not only does that girl have a bad temper, but she often gave Taozi the cold shoulder; being the only daughter at twenty-sothing years old, she couldn’t even cook. Is this marrying a wife or inviting an ancestor? Hence, she firmly opposed the marriage. Lu Tao was reluctant to break up, leading to an argunt between mother and son.

Fearing that the family would scold Lu Tao, Second Sister-in-law Lu kept the matter hidden, not letting anyone aside from Xiao Qiu know, including Lu Jiazong.

“Broke up? How did it happen?”

Second Sister-in-law Lu sighed, “The girl is the only daughter, and her family knew we had three sons. They wanted the child to take their surna after marriage, which I certainly wouldn’t agree to, and Lu Tao didn’t want it either, so they broke up.”

This wasn’t Second Sister-in-law Lu making things up; the girl’s family indeed had such thoughts and even probed Lu Tao about it. Only after Lu Tao expressed he wouldn’t be a live-in son-in-law did they drop the idea.

Later on, Second Sister-in-law Lu objected to the marriage, and his mood beca irritable. Unfortunately, his girlfriend thought he wasn’t attentive enough and threw tantrums. Over ti, these incidents gradually wore down their affection. When the passion subsided and rationality kicked in, he felt it was unsuitable and proposed to break up.

Sister-in-law Lu was a bit stunned, then found it odd, “Taozi is handso, capable, and articulate, so there’s no worry about him getting a wife. How could they dare to make such unreasonable demands?”

Second Sister-in-law Lu heard Taozi ntion briefly, “They think Shanzi has two sons and a daughter, and Lu Yun has a daughter and can have another child—they believe our family isn’t short of kids.”

Sister-in-law Lu laughed angrily, “Now with national policy, if either spouse has a job, they can only have one child. Those without work can have at most two; who in the families nowadays still dislikes having more children?”

Even Lu Shan’s third child, Gou Sheng, was unexpectedly conceived and then secretly born. Due to inadequate nutrition during pregnancy, after giving birth, Da Mai had no breast milk, and the child’s constitution was weak. Fortunately, when this child was born, the second family’s noodle shop made money enough to afford formula, or else there would have been not just health issues but an early death.

Second Sister-in-law Lu remarked, “Alright, let’s not talk about them anymore; anyway, it’s already over. Once Taozi relocates to the Forty-nine City, let’s arrange it then.”

She looked hopefully at Sister-in-law Lu, “Sister-in-law, I don’t know many people, so I’ll have to trouble you with this matter.”

Sister-in-law Lu didn’t refuse and made a request instead, “Your house is too small. If Taozi moves in after marriage, it’ll be crowded. If Taozi could have his own house, we could introduce him to a girl with better conditions.”

She knew they earned money from the noodle shop; otherwise, she wouldn’t have proposed this. It’s evident that business is profitable; the second family earned a shop and a flat after being in the Forty-nine City for five years. As for Xiao Qiu, even more, with two shops and two houses.

Second Sister-in-law Lu did not hide from her and expressed she had saved a sum intended for Lu Tao’s wedding, enough to buy a small flat.

With these words, Sister-in-law Lu knew what to expect.

After three days on the train, Lu Hongjun and Lu Ping arrived in Peng City. Originally they were to buy plane tickets, but Lu Hongjun was adamantly opposed, so they ended up purchasing train tickets.

Even though they took the soft sleeper, spending three days onboard was quite grueling, particularly since Lu Hongjun’s health hadn’t fully recovered. Hence, they rested for a day before going to Hong Kong.

Upon leaving the port and stepping outside, they saw Wang Lin and another unfamiliar face. As for Yan Yijun and Qian Xiaoxiao, they were assigned to protect Lu Jiaxin, so they didn’t co to greet him.

Wang Lin noticed he didn’t look well and asked, “Sir, would you like to go to the hospital first?”

Lu Hongjun had had enough of hospital stays and disliked going there. He replied, “I’m just a bit tired; going back to rest should be fine.”

Having left the Forty-nine City four days ago, it had been truly difficult to eat well or sleep soundly. Now, he just wanted to have a good al and a good sleep.

“Sir, this way, please.”

When they saw the two cars sent to pick them up, Lu Ping’s eyes were wide open. Even the highest-ranking leader’s car from his father’s unit wasn’t as good as these two cars!

Opening the car door, Wang Lin pointed to the reclined seat and smiled, “Sir, you can lie down here; it’s more comfortable.”

“Alright.”

Indeed, lying down was comfortable. Before long, Lu Hongjun fell asleep and awoke upon arrival. Upon getting out of the car, he saw the spacious yard with a large pond in the center, and a big rock standing amidst the pond, with water flowing down from above.

Lu Hongjun looked up at the three-and-a-half-story house and remarked with curiosity, “Shanzi said it’s a small villa, yet this house doesn’t seem small.”

Having followed Lu Jiaxin for a while, Wang Lin understood right away, “Sir, the small villa where Lu Shan’s brother lives is rented; this house is our boss’s purchase, much larger than the small villa.”

Considering the precious real estate of Hong Kong, Lu Hongjun couldn’t help but ask, “For such a big house and spacious yard, it must cost a lot, right?”

Wang Lin answered, “It was over sixty million when bought and then the boss acquired the adjacent land to expand the garden, so seventy to eighty million are necessary.”

“How much?”

“Seventy to eighty million Hong Kong Dollars, maybe even more.”
