Chapter 579: Chapter 562: Brothers Quarrel
Nie Zhan took out a list and explained under Lu Jiaxin’s puzzled gaze, “This is what my great-grandmother left for my mommy. I know you like old objects, so I bought calligraphy and porcelain from big brother. Here’s the list.”
Lu Jiaxin looked over it and indeed, they were all things she liked. “Your big brother actually agreed to transfer these things to you? Ah Zhan, did he set any conditions?”
Nie Zhan smiled and said, “No, big brother also thinks mommy went too far this ti. I told him I didn’t want the jewelry, just these old objects, and he agreed.”
“These items are now in the bank’s safety deposit box, our family doesn’t have a secret room, so we’ll wait until the house on the hilltop is finished before displaying them.”
Lu Jiaxin replied, “That will take three to five years. Once this storm passes, we can take them out; the calligraphy can be hung on the walls, and the porcelain placed on the curio shelves to appreciate at leisure.
Nie Zhan went along with her.
After settling this matter, Nie Zhan felt relieved, having already made his stance known to grandfather, he would no longer ddle in her affairs.
Nie Zhan said, “Jiaxin, I plan to take Qirui public this year. What are your plans for Green Forest? Will it go public this year or next?”
They had talked about it before, aside from Xinxin Real Estate not going public, the other companies under Lu Jiaxin’s na could, but she hadn’t given an exact ti.
Lu Jiaxin planned to take Green Forest public. “Even though Green Forest is now worth over four hundred million, it still has many shortcomings, so there’s no rush to go public. By the way, what about Five Auspicious Jewelry? When do you plan to list it?”
Nie Zhan said, “Five Auspicious Jewelry won’t work, it’s been established for too short a ti; we need to wait at least another year, until the performance is better and investors have more confidence.”
“I’ll follow your advice.”
After resolving the matter with Nie Manlin, the number of phone calls to the Lu Family Mansion increased. However, Lu Jiaxin didn’t answer the phone and also instructed the butler to ignore calls from the Forty-nine City.
Lu Shan, Second Sister-in-law Lu, and Lu Jiaguang made calls to Lu Jiaxin in turn, but it was always the butler who answered, perpetually saying the boss was busy. They understood that Lu Jiaxin was annoyed because of Lu Hongjun’s issue.
Lu Jiazong was very worried, “Big brother, Jiaxin isn’t even taking Shanzi’s calls. It seems she’s even upset with Shanzi this ti. Sigh, what was Third Uncle thinking? If that woman didn’t want to take care of him, Shanzi could just rent a place outside, yet he insists on going to Shichahai.”
“And Jiaxin, with such a big mansion, she’d rather let outsiders live there than her own father. If word of this gets back to our hotown, who knows how people will talk?”
What kind of nonsense was that, Lu Jiaguang felt his anger rising, “The Shichahai mansion was purchased by Madam Guh, and she paid for the renovations herself; it’s her right to live there.”
“I know she bought it, but it’s such a big mansion with several courtyards. Moreover, there are over a dozen helpers and bodyguards, and two chefs were hired. It wouldn’t affect anything if Third Uncle lived there!”
Lu Jiaguang looked at him without saying a word.
Feeling uneasy under that stare, Lu Jiazong said, “Big brother, why are you looking at like that? I didn’t say anything wrong.”
Lu Jiaguang replied, trying to contain his anger, “First, the Shichahai mansion was bought by Madam Guh; second, although the helpers, bodyguards, and chefs are hired by Jiaxin, the money cos from Madam Guh’s own pocket; third, Tang Sufen and Third Uncle are husband and wife, she ought to take care of him since he sprained his ankle; fourth, Lu Shan was adopted by the third branch and got property and shops, and it was to pick up Gou Sheng that he sprained his ankle, so Jiaxin is not obliged to intervene.”
Seeing him angry, Lu Jiazong did not dare to argue.
Lu Jiaguang continued, “I heard from Xiaojie that you bought a small courtyard near the noodle shop. Now that you’ve bought your own place, it’s ti to vacate the house on Radiance Road.”
Lu Jiazong looked up at him in surprise, “Big brother, why on earth are you asking to vacate the house?”
“You’ve lived in the house on Radiance Road for three years, and now you’ve bought your own place but still don’t move out. How much longer are you planning to stay?”
Lu Jiazong paused, then said, “That house only has four rooms, it’s not spacious enough. Moreover, Jiaxin asked us to look after the house; an unoccupied house deteriorates quickly.”
Lu Jiaguang said sternly, “Even though you paid market rent, the market rate only includes basic furniture like beds and cabinets. Jiaxin’s place ca fully equipped with a TV, an electric fan, a refrigerator, a washing machine, and a telephone. The rent you paid wouldn’t get you such a well-equipped place.”
“Little brother, Jiaxin took care of you when you had no house of your own. Now that you have your place, it’s high ti you moved out and freed up the mansion.”
But Lu Jiazong was reluctant to let go. The house they had bought was near Xiushui Street, just a five or six-minute bike ride away. However, it was not as spacious as the one on Radiance Road, nor did it have as many ho appliances.
Lu Jiaguang said, “Jiaxin didn’t want to see Third Uncle and Second Aunt this ti when she went back ho because they had thought about taking her house back in the day. So she disdained them and refused to recognize them. Little brother, if you have your own place and don’t move out, it’s easy for people to think that you want to lay claim to Jiaxin’s mansion. When the ti cos, she may well disdain you too.”
Lu Jiazong didn’t know about these things, but even so, he didn’t want to move. Living on Radiance Road was indeed more ti-consuming with the commute, but it was really convenient. Lu Jiazong said, “Big brother, the house belongs to Jiaxin, and having lived there for just three years, I’m not yet used to the idea of leaving.”
Lu Jiaguang’s expression turned ugly, “If you’re not used to moving out after three years, how about after ten? Would you feel entitled to the house then? Anyway, Jiaxin is wealthy; such a small house ans nothing to her.”
Lu Jiazong’s face turned pale, and he said in a bad tone, “Big brother, Jiaxin gave you such a big house, what’s wrong if she gives this small courtyard? Is it only you who can benefit, while I can’t share in any good fortune?”
Lu Jiaguang laughed bitterly in anger, “My big house was given to because I helped Jiaxin out many tis with her business dealings. What have you done for Jiaxin over the years?”
“You’ve done nothing, only scheming after the third unit’s money and house. The reason Jiaxin doesn’t answer our calls is because she sees through your intentions and is fed up with you.”
Lu Jiazong would never admit to such things, “Big brother, don’t you pin that on . If Jiaxin is fed up, it’s with Third Uncle and that Tang person, not .”
Knowing he couldn’t get through to him, Lu Jiaguang laid down an ultimatum, “Vacate the house on Radiance Road within a week. Otherwise, I’ll have Dad co over, and you’ll have to move out whether you want to or not.”
The two brothers parted on bad terms.
Lu Jiazong returned ho fuming and saw Second Sister-in-law Lu busy with her work and not even concerned about him, which made him even more upset, “Big brother just told to vacate the house and return it to Jiaxin.”
Second Sister-in-law Lu’s expression changed dramatically, “Jiaxin wants us to move out? Did you do sothing again to make Jiaxin angry? Lu Jiazong, do you find life too easy and just have to stir up trouble to feel uncomfortable?”
Being scolded for no reason, Lu Jiazong was furious, “It’s not Jiaxin who wants us to move out, it’s big brother. He heard we bought a house and wants us to vacate this one.”
Relieved that it wasn’t Jiaxin asking them to move out, Second Sister-in-law Lu sighed with relief, “Big brother is right. Now that we’ve bought our own place, we really should move. We can’t keep taking advantage of Jiaxin.”
Hearing this, Lu Jiazong was nearly beside himself with anger.
