Chapter 155: Chapter 146 Confirmation Without Error

Aunt Hong returned to Hong Kong with Doctor Xu, one to the He family mansion and the other to deliver the blood sample to a hospital capable of DNA testing, as Doctor Xu’s private clinic did not yet have this technology.

Back at the He family mansion, Gu Xiuxiu asked Aunt Hong, “That child, does she really look a lot like when I was young?”

Aunt Hong and Aunt i were self-combed won, aning they chose not to marry. Aunt Hong had been with Gu Xiuxiu since she was twenty-three and had attended to her closely for thirty years, so she naturally knew what she looked like when she was young.

“She’s not as pretty as you were, but she indeed resembles you by six or seven points. I took quite a few photos, I’ll send them to the photo studio later. Once they’re developed, you’ll be able to see for yourself,” Aunt Hong replied.

Gu Xiuxiu humd with concern, “How is the girl doing?”

Without hesitation, Aunt Hong said, “She has a strong character. I bought her a color TV and a refrigerator, which she accepted but returned the money to . When I refused to take the money, she sent a gift in return.”

Gu Xiuxiu was surprised, “She sent a return gift? What did she give?”

Aunt Hong shook her head indicating she didn’t know and bent over to take out a box from her carry-on luggage.

Taking the box from her, Gu Xiuxiu opened it and was surprised by the contents. Gu Xiuxiu also owned many jade ornants and recognized at a glance that it was mutton-fat jade, “This is from that girl?”

Aunt Hong was also astonished; a full set of jewelry like this must co from the sa piece of jade. In Hong Kong, it might not even be possible to buy such a set for two hundred thousand. Compared to the refrigerator and color TV she gave, they really were nothing.

Gu Xiuxiu was puzzled, “Isn’t the Mainland very poor? How can this girl be so generous?”

Aunt Hong suggested, “It is poor, Miss Cousin doesn’t even have a TV or refrigerator. Madam, she probably doesn’t know the value of this jewelry set!”

Gu Xiuxiu couldn’t help but laugh, “If she knew to use this set of jewelry as a return gift, she must know its value.”

She took a bracelet from the box and tried it on her wrist; it was beautiful but unfortunately didn’t fit her. Putting the bracelet back in the box, she thought it was really rare for soone her age to earn money and not get carried away by it.

Seeing her beaming face, Aunt Hong remarked, “Madam, Miss Cousin has a strong temper and might not be easy to get along with.”

Gu Xiuxiu wasn’t concerned; capable people often had big tempers. Take herself as an example; when she was young, she also had a big temper. Even after marrying her husband, she couldn’t hold back her own temper. But since she was able to help her husband with social interactions, he tolerated her small temper.

Moreover, her adopted daughter Xing Yujun was docile and obedient, taking care of everything with utmost diligence. However, such a temperant made her easy to bully and deceive. On the contrary, soone like Lu Jiaxin, with edges, wouldn’t get bullied and was harder to deceive.

When Gu Xiuxiu received the photos the next day, her eyes imdiately moistened. People who knew her said the child looked like her, but in reality, she looked more like her younger sister.

Seeing her like this, Aunt i comforted her, “Madam, once you bring Miss Cousin closer to you, you’ll be able to see her every day.”

Gu Xiuxiu indeed had this plan; otherwise, she wouldn’t have arranged for soone to check on Lu Jiaxin’s background and had Aunt Hong and Doctor Xu go there. However, whether she would bring her to Hong Kong depended on the DNA test results.

Three days later, the results ca out, confirming a blood relationship between them. Eagerly, Gu Xiuxiu called Lu Jiaxin, and upon hearing her crisp voice on the other end, she excitedly said, “Jiaxin, I’m your aunt.”

Qian Xiaoxiao spoke with a smile, “Madam Gu, Sister Xin is reading in the room; please hold on for a mont.”

As soon as Lu Jiaxin heard Gu Xiuxiu call, she knew the test results were out and picked up the phone, speaking calmly, “Hello Madam Gu, this is Lu Jiaxin.”

Gu Xiuxiu said, “Jiaxin, I’m your aunt.”

“Madam Gu, have the test results co out?”

Guh Xiuxiu said, “The DNA test results are out, and we are blood relatives. Jiaxin, I am your aunt.”

She used to think blood ties were not important and that emotions were what mattered most. But now she realized that while emotions could be cultivated and could change, blood ties were engrained in her bones and unalterable.

Lu Jiaxin tactfully refused, “I am taking dicine to recuperate and the doctor said I can’t stop. If I go to Hong Kong, I’ll have to discontinue the dication. However, after another three or four months of treatnt, I should be almost recovered, and I’ll visit you in Hong Kong at that ti.”

Guh Xiuxiu asked skeptically, “Can you really recover in a few months?”

Lu Jiaxin explained, “I used to be very healthy and rarely caught a cold. It was the excessive blood loss from last year’s injury that damaged my vitality. I’ve been recuperating for over five months now, a little more ti should do it.”

Her quick recovery was due to three factors: dication, good nutrition, and daily exercise.

Aunt Hong had also ntioned that Lu Jiaxin looked healthy and didn’t seem frail, indicating that the doctor in charge of her recuperation was quite skilled.

At Guh Xiuxiu’s age, she naturally understood that health was more important than anything else. What good was wealth or power if one’s health was poor?

Guh Xiuxiu said, “Alright, take good care of your health. If you need or lack anything, just tell , and I’ll buy it and have it sent to you.”

Lu Jiaxin smiled, assuring her she lacked for nothing, and urged her to take care and recover quickly. After talking for a while longer, they hung up the phone.

“Dong, dong, dong…”

Hearing the knock at the door, Qian Xiaoxiao went to open it. Seeing Lu Hongjun, her face imdiately soured as she said, “What are you doing here?”

Lu Hongjun’s face was as dark as the bottom of a pot, not believing a village girl dared to show him such an attitude. Right now, though, he didn’t have the ti to quarrel with Qian Xiaoxiao and called out Lu Jiaxin’s na loudly.

Lu Jiaxin walked out of the room without even lifting her eyelids, “Why are you here instead of with your beloved wife and obedient daughter?”

Lu Hongjun asked, “Who bought you the color TV and washing machine?”

“What does it have to do with you?”

Seeing her indifferent attitude, Lu Hongjun felt like there was a stone blocking his heart, “Now is not the ti to be resentful. The person who’s buying you all these things without showing their face definitely has ulterior motives. Don’t get fooled.”

Lu Jiaxin chuckled and said, “You kept insisting that Ding Jing genuinely cared for , but what was the result? I nearly lost my life because of her.”

“I am your father; I wouldn’t harm you.”

Lu Jiaxin no longer wished to pretend, scornfully retorting, “I almost died because of that woman, and you did nothing. Now you’re here pretending to care. Get lost, or have Xiaoxiao drag you out if you refuse to leave.”

Now that she thought about it, moving to Hong Kong sounded quite good. There, family disputes over wealth among the rich were common, and if she eventually cut ties with Lu Hongjun, at most so tabloid might report it for circulation, but the people around her wouldn’t be nosy or morally judgntal. Unlike here, where people carelessly comnt that there’s no overnight feud between father and daughter, it’s all nonsense.

Lu Hongjun said, “Lu Jiaxin, if you really go to Hong Kong, you might end up dead without knowing how.”

“Xiaoxiao, drag him out.”

Qian Xiaoxiao grabbed hold of Lu Hongjun and dragged him outside, then with a bang, shut the door behind him.
