"Uhn, this is better than I expected."

Lucian said as he glanced at his skin. His skin had actually crystallized, traveling red pulsing veins underneath his skin. He could even

see his bones and his muscles tightening and relaxing.

"Amazing!"

The Rank C Talent was truly impressive. Lucian even figured only soone with at least 70 points in strength would be able to pierce

through his skin.

At that mont, his hand turned to a blur as he backhanded the Ratman. Its head exploded like waterlon as blood and yellowish-white

substance spattered all over the reeds.

The grey figure fell to the ground with a plop. Now, Lucian could go take a very good look.

The creature was half the size of a human and looked very much like a rat blown out of proportion.

Its hind legs were well-developed enough, an indication that it could probably walk upright. Behold, the notorious killer of Baylor ruins

reed marsh—the ratman.

As it was announced on the bus earlier on, this creature was ntioned in the bounty list.

Lucian walked up to it, carefully carving out the Ratman's eye with the dagger.

Although Ratn flesh tasted pretty good, Lucian had other stuff that needed his attention. Also, the Ratman's blood would serve as bait for other dangerous creatures lurking in the tall shadows.

As he placed the eyeball into a his interstellar space, he could feel himself absorbing the Ratman's energy, strengthening his physical body bit by bit.

[Rat Eliminated!]

[SS-Rank Skill: Blood Devour Activated!] → 1 agility

[Blood Harvest Activated!] → Dragon Soul Devourer attack power: 0.3 %

[Soul Drain Activated!] → Life force stored (0.3%)

The lack of experience points made Lucian feel strange. It's no wonder most awakened would rather the Galactic Tower, risking their lives to level up rather than kill monsters in the wilderness and get nothing.

He trounced forward as the reeds got thicker. The croaks were now loud, almost deafening, where a cacophony of howls reached out from the dark.

"Croak!" "Croak!" "Croak!"

"Bang!" "Bang!"

Lucian crushed the skulls of two more ratn.

Sumr was nigh, and so was mating season for the Ratman. If they were not cleared at this ti, once the love rush was over, their numbers would increase exponentially.

They would then have to leave their nest and spread out, an unthinkable threat to the nearby cities and towns!

Unsurprisingly, these severe consequences to its safety were also ntioned on the bus.

Lucian walked up to his kills and, again, unconsciously absorbed the energy from the Ratn. The energy was minuscule but half a loaf of bread is better than non.

Moreover, Lucian was already addicted to the feeling of draining life from his opponent and absorbing it. It was a high the he couldn't describe.

If heroine was a drug to make the body feel good, this feeling was alike a drug to make his soul feel good. It wasn't nearly the sa.

After he gouged the eyeballs out, Lucian continued to march forward, steady and determined.

Three hours later and he'd already made his way through the slushy reed marshes where the unmistakable, low rumble of rushing waters ca to ear.

This was it. This was the real Baylor ruin, real but just as dangerous.

Man-eating fishes infested the waters, and the ever-present threat of a crocodile beast made this a forbidden area.

"It better be here."

"Splash!"

Lucian jumped into the frigid water.

This part of the river ran real deep. Lucian entered the water and was imdiately greeted by a peculiar blue-red glow all around him.

Those were, without a doubt, toxin deposits, which in turn ant that there were no mutant organisms around this area.

The last ti he escaped from death, he did not feel a thing. Now, he felt a stinging pain where his skin was exposed to the toxins.

He brushed the pain away. Compared to the injuries he had sustained overti, this was nothing!

Lucian moved swiftly in the water like a fish.

In less than three minutes, he made it to the bottom of the river where a black hole opened up.

It was about two ters wide and even if Lucian stood upright, he would still be able to go through it without issue.

Calculating his shots, he swam his way inside.

The hole tilted upwards. After ten ters or so diving through the passage, Lucian reached the surface of the water.

The mont he shut off the oxygen supply, an extrely pungent odor attacked his nostrils.

It was as though this was a sewage pipe.

These thoughts drifted through his mind, and before he knew it, he had already reached the end of the tunnel.

There was a piece of tal sheet blocking his path. A large human-like palm was wedged, leaving a 30-centiter gap, big enough for one person to squeeze through.

Lucian climbed up, pausing to take a look at the giant hand of the creature that had saved him in his previous life.

It was a creature about 30 ters long. But right now, it was in a wretched state. Its flesh rotted from its bones, a result of exposure to the toxins. Apart from a claw that was trying to pry the tal sheet open, and another one which broke off and had fallen onto the pile of trash, the rest of the talons were nowhere to be found.

From the remaining bits of flesh, Lucian concluded that it must have been a furry beast that looked like it had been skinned to the bone.

All its innards had been extracted, even leaving the creature without a tail.

Both of the creature's eyes had been gouged out, its eyebrows bored into, indicating that the creature's core which amassed its abilities had long been removed.

Its flesh and bones were brittle as a result of the infernal experints; all that was left had no value whatsoever.

"Soone was here." Lucian muttered under his breath when he saw the hole the size of a fist.

"Uhn. That's the portal." Lucian noticed a large

fluctuation nearby and saw the portal a few distance away from the beast.

The air crackled with static, and the portal itself

materialized as he drew near a swirling vortex of purple and black, its edges fraying like torn fabric.

He drew a deep breath, stabilizing himself, then stepped through the threshold.
