Alazar was wrong. He had underestimated the brat.
If only he hadn’t blown out the candle and tried to use the darkness to his advantage, the fight might have ended differently.
He knew the brat could fight with nothing but his senses—that was the very reason he had escaped the bunker in the first place.
He wasn’t a tool to lose his life because of his pride. He values his life over everything else, even if it ant to run away from a kid.
Now, disguised as a grey-haired man, he was running aimlessly through the night. Blood still dripped from his wounds, his leg shook with every step, and his knee was half-useless. Cuts marked his body, and a deep gash tore across his shoulder.
Alazar’s way of fighting had always been the sa—prey on the weak, break them with dirty tricks, then strike when they were helpless. Against stronger foes, he never bothered. Better to run than die.
He would rather be called a coward than a corpse.
That was why he always stole in crowded places, where the sea of people gave him cover to blend in and vanish.
But today was different. Today he had been dragged into isolation. And Kalwank’s death... that was what finally pushed him to stay and face the brat instead of running.
"Huff... huff..." Taking shelter under the shed, Alazar forced himself to catch his breath and assess his condition.
I need to stay here a while before going back to the bunker. He couldn’t leave Tamind just yet—his treasure was hidden there. He needed to retrieve it, and his son’s body, for a proper burial.
For that, he had to remain hidden—
"No wonder your son grew up to be such a coward."
Alazar froze.
The voice ca from above. He looked up and saw the familiar redhead casually perched on the house’s ledge.
The wolf gritted his teeth and hurled a small knife at the boy.
Hades scoffed, catching the knife by its blade before it could impale him.
"You’re undoubtedly weakened now," he said, leaping from the ledge and landing lightly on the ground.
Alazar’s eyes widened. "Y-Your wounds..." During their fight, he had dealt several deep injuries to the boy. Yet, now, all of them had stitched themselves up, as if Hades had used so powerful herb—ah!
Suddenly, it clicked. The boy had visited the guild to sell a high-grade herb. He must have plenty more.
Hades, however, had no interest in Alazar’s thoughts. Clenching his fist, his hands morphed into crimson claws as he lunged at the man.
"Shit!" The wolfkin cursed, flinging his shroud toward the teenager.
Hades’ claws shredded it instantly. Yet, when he glanced back, the target had vanished behind the curtain.
Sensing another presence from behind, Hades twisted and struck—
CLANG!
STAB!
He blocked the incoming knife with a claw, but a sudden stab from the left sent a burning pain shooting through his ribs.
Alazar stood there, grinning.
"Sotis your sharp senses becos your enemy."
Hades didn’t respond.
His hands shot toward the man, grabbing his face before he struck the man with a pillar splitting headbutt.
"KHAUK!"
Blood spurted from Alazar’s nose as he staggered back. His eyes darkened for a mont and his ears ringing.
Before Alazar could recover, Hades’ claws shot out like lightning, catching the wolfkin’s wrist mid-swing. With a twist and a sharp CRACK, Alazar’s arm bent unnaturally—bones breaking under the precise force. Pain shot up his shoulder, and he scread, dropping the weapon.
Hades followed instantly, slamming his knee into Alazar’s ribs. The wolf grunted, doubling over, gasping for air, but Hades didn’t hesitate. Each strike was a clean, lethal calculation.
A punch to the jaw, a spin, an elbow to the temple—Alazar barely had ti to defend. Every attack Hades threw landed with surgical precision, breaking joints, bruising ribs, shredding muscles.
Alazar tried to claw back, desperate, but Hades sidestepped, twisting the man’s arm again, breaking it further. The wolf’s scream cut through the night, raw and ragged.
Hades pressed the advantage, elbowing him in the stomach, then driving a foot into his knee. Alazar collapsed to one side, his remaining arm useless, legs wobbling. His body was a map of pain, each strike leaving him weaker, slower, and gasping for every breath.
Another twisting strike, and Alazar’s shoulder dislocated with a sickening pop. He slumped to the ground, blood running freely, broken, helpless. Hades stood over him, silent and disappointed.
Hades asked, "I am kind of disappointed. How is your bounty so high when you are so weak?"
The wolf, despite being down and wounded, didn’t bow his head and said, "I have long realized my strength and it doesn’t lie within fighting."
A slow grin spread his lips before his maw parted
Hades’s eyes widened but before he could have stopped him,
"AUUUUUUUUUUU!!!"
A howl. Deep and loud resonated throughout the town.
Hades could already feel people closing in.
He gritted his teeth and kicked the wolf’s head.
*THUD*
Alazar hit the ground.
Hades flexed his claw, stepping closer but before he could bring his claw down to his target’s throat,
"Stop right there!" Sothing stuck to the back of his hand and despite Hades’s resistance, he couldn’t move his hand even an inch.
Soon, he felt the sa sensation on his legs and the other hand.
Several n had gathered around, completely blocking him.
Alazar had a wild grin on his face.
Despite the circumstances, he always survives.
These people would bring him to the guild for interrogation but since he was not in his real form, no one would know who he was.
Easy escape!
"Just stay right there, boy!" Soone kicked the back of his knee, making Hades kneel on the ground.
More than twenty guild mbers have gathered and they all were prepared to take down anyone who tried to defy them
Hades clicked his tongue, he ssed up a big ti. If only he had ended the battle back in the bunker...
"Guild master is here!" Soone cried and that caused everyone to gasp and make way for the man
Alazar’s eyes widened. Why was the guild master here?!
Hades also turned to look at the person who was feared and respected by everyone in the town.
But his curiosity suddenly turned into shock when his eyes landed on the man.
"Brad?!"
The sa man who guided him to the guild and helped him get a license. Soone Hades owes a al.
He was...actually the guild master?!
"Yo, lil friend. Got yourself in a situation?"
