Alexia
I let out a yawn as I crush the throat of another one of the pests. Killing him just like the last three before him.
That marks four of them that are dead. I have a total of twenty-one of them marked, not including the ones that died before I started my hunt. Since a couple did die in our battle and after the battle. Mostly due to Mom’s rampage.
After killing this one, I devour his energy just like the others. Giving another skill to add to my list of skills in the process.
Then I check the marks for my next hunt to surprisingly find all seventeen of the remaining targets converging. With them all heading straight to Dinsional Block #108.
Huh. Are they planning on using hostages or sothing?
I don’t feel any worry though. Instead I yawn again while teleporting right into the council eting hall back in The Retreat. Startling the different council mbers located in said room with my appearance.
“A-Alexia! Congratulations on your Ascension!” Alara exclaims after a brief hesitation. Only for Astrid to walk in from right outside of the room where she was taking a call. Completely hanging up the call in the process.
“Lexi?” Astrid says, sounding more than a little confused.
“Everyone, I’ll be taking you sowhere safe for a little while,” I tell them without warning. Although the only ones I particularly care about are Astrid and maybe Alara. But they’re technically on my side as well, so I’ll bring the others with as well.
Unfortunately, most of them are all still afraid of . Terrified even.
Probably because I almost never interact with them.
Sothing tells that if I tried interacting with them more, they’d begin to understand more about and be less terrified. They would realize I don’t just kill soone because of petty reasons.
Huh. Why am I even thinking about this now?
I frown for a mont before snapping my fingers and teleporting them all away from Dinsional Block #108. Straight to Dinsional Block #1, where Lucas, Mom, and Gramps are.
They can explain the situation since I’ve already filled them in imdiately after finding out that the Ascendants were heading here.
Still. It’s kind of weird.
This book's true ho is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
I don’t think I’ve really ever put much thought into going out of my way to get along with others that aren’t family.
Hmm.
Maybe I should spend a few days in The Retreat after this to get to know them? At least Astrid’s friends.
I linger on that thought for a little while before eventually refocusing on my targets again when their marks gather together and begin to approach The Retreat.
It’s almost ti to finish cleaning up the trash. But since I’m waiting, I might as well go look at my new skills.
So with that plan in mind, I head to the System Totem and begin searching through my latest skills and so of the more useful skills that I don’t currently have slotted.
{Quantum Singularity: Further stabilizes the user’s place in reality and the quantum realm, making skills and magics with any relation to the quantum have less effect on the user. Potentially affects ti magic, space magic, soul magic, death magic, and other magics that directly affect reality itself in so way, shape, or form.}
{Quantum Flux Absorption: The user passively absorbs the nearby ambient quantum fluxes, converting them into energy and soul for the user.}
{Wave-Particle Cascade: Allows the user to change between three forms. Their default form with no additional effects, their Wave form of which grants the user enhanced magical prowess and speed with the ability to phase through three solid non-living objects at the cost of an increased weakness to magic by 50%, and their Particle form of which grants the user enhanced physical prowess and physical resistance at the cost of the inability to use magic while in the form.}
{Quantum Resonance: Allows the user to use the quantum energy in their body to create a resonance throughout themselves that increases their physical strength, speed, and regeneration for a limited amount of ti.}
{Quantum Echo: Allows the user to create a brief echo of their previous attack through quantum entanglent, letting them duplicate one attack at a weaker level than the original attack.}
{Astral Seek: You may search through the astral realm for information you desire.}
{Charybdis Shell: You may create a shell around your body that can move at your will and has defenses far surpassing your true body’s defenses.}
{Ancient Barrier: Your body passively generates a barrier that absorbs 20% of all magical damage directed at you. The absorbed damage may be used to create a powerful active barrier that can defend against opposing attacks.}
{Quantum Rip: Allows the user to tear away a small amount of the target’s energy with every one of the user’s attacks. This energy may then be used in the user’s own attacks.}
{Energy Restoration: Allows the user to completely refill their energy tank twelve tis a year at no cost.}
There are quite a few really good skills to pick from. But I can only slot four new active skills and four new passive skills.
It’s annoying that there’s a limit, but it’s great that my limit has been significantly reduced compared to others thanks to my newest Legendary Feats.
What I’m most interested in though are the last few skills. Specifically the Ancient Barrier, Charybdis Shell, and Energy Restoration skills.
The others are great as well, but those three are the best of the bunch.
Ancient Barrier will help reduce my weakness to magical damage, Charybdis Shell will give more defensive asures, and Energy Restoration is just an all-around help against powerful enemies.
The other skills, such as Resonance and Echo, are also very useful, but not quite as much as those.
Still, I have eight total slots to fill, so I can use more than just those three.
Now then.
It’s ti to swap out my skills while I’m waiting for the pests to arrive.
A faint smile stretches across my face.
This’ll be fun.
