“Why? Does sothing special happen when I reach Ascendant Tier?” I ask with a frown clearly visible on my face. “Other than, well, reaching Ascendant Tier.”
She just smiles at and reaches out with her index finger to touch my forehead. Following which I feel a strange connection establish.
My frown grows a little deeper, only for Mom’s voice to echo through my head from that odd connection.
‘Rember what I am, and what you are to ,” Mom says in a rather cryptic manner.
What Mom is? And what I am to her?
I’m… confused.
Mom doesn’t take the ti to explain what she ans though as she smiles at before suddenly disappearing in a glitch. Clearly using quantum magic to do so.
Hmm…
The simplest answer is that Mom is a devourer and I’m her daughter. But should the answer be that simple?
Knowing mom, it probably should be.
And if that’s the case…
Is she trying to tell that, despite what I’ve been led to believe, I have devourer blood as well? Since she pointed out what she is and what I am to her?
It would be nice if that were true. Probably.
Unless it sses with my status as Quantum Reaper.
I blink as a thought cos to mind.
Wait, what if it does ss with my status as Quantum Reaper and whatever it is that forces to obey the universe’s orders? That would be cool.
Let’s see… if I rember correctly, Mom took the form of a human to be able to have a child with Lucas. And all other devourers before her would do the sa to have a child with another species.
If that’s the case, does that an a devourer can only be born between two devourers?
But devourers don’t have any true forms per se, so how would that work? If the devourer gene is lost through entering the form of another species, wouldn’t it always be lost since they don’t have a ‘devourer form’ to speak of?

So how are devourers even born from other devourers?
I’ve never really thought about this before.
Mom’s words echo around in my head over and over again. To be careful when making it to Ascendant Tier.
I think about it over and over again until a thought finally cos to mind.
Have I ever actually heard about a devourer whether in the past or the present that wasn’t at Ascendant Tier? Other than Mom after the reset…
Huh.
There are two possibilities that I can see being what Mom ant when she gave those words and warnings.
One could be that I might awaken so devourer blood when I reach Ascendant Tier.
And the other…
My thoughts are interrupted when I sense another user approaching. A user that I surprisingly find to be Lucas. And the man is rather obviously looking for sothing.
Or soone.
A faint smirk stretches across my face as I see him frantically searching around the nearby planets, only to briefly stop in front of and ask of Mom was just here. Then, after I tell him she was and that she just left, he imdiately goes off to continue searching for her.
Kind of like a frantic puppy dog.
It’s honestly a little cute to watch.
Guess Lucas really does love Mom.
Well, anyways, I’m done speculating for now. I’ll see what I see when it happens.
For now I’ll just continue leveling up and making my way towards Ascendant Tier. Which is only really possible in this dungeon. And only possible if I win this little competition and claim this dungeon as my own.
I can worry about what Mom ant later, when I’m about to reach Ascendant Tier.
So without another thought on the subject, I imdiately begin teleporting off to find a world with higher level monsters on it. Which actually doesn’t take too long. Since there’s one relatively nearby.
Just a few planets away from the one I was just on.
As for the world itself? The world is so sort of frozen wasteland covered entirely in ice. With one massive trench at the top of the world that runs for thousands of kiloters.
The trench is so large you literally can’t see the end of it from the center of the trench on the ground.
Okay then. It doesn’t take much thinking to understand that the boss of this world must be in this trench.
Not much at all.
I glance at so of the monsters leaving said trench. All of whom have ice or water magic at the very least. Not to ntion that they’re all at least level 1300 in level.
Which isn’t really much compared to , but considering that the lowest level monsters of the other weaker worlds are level 1000, with their highest level boss being level 1500…
Judging by that alone, the boss could easily be level 1800 or sothing. So I should probably avoid the boss for a while.
At least until my own level is close to that point.
My thoughts are interrupted as I hear a rather loud screeching sound coming from within the trench. A sound that kind of makes not go down there at all.
But most likely the boss is very deep down in the trench. And the monsters coming out of the trench aren’t high enough level to give much of any EXP.
So I kind of have to go down there if I want to continue leveling up.
I let out a sigh at that thought before beginning to teleport down into the trench of ice. Slaughtering the monsters as I go with Quantum Bolts in a quick and easy barrage. And the deeper I go the happier I am about my ability to see in the dark.
Because this trench quickly gets dark.
Very dark.
And very cold.
But more importantly, I find a hidden area appearing on my mini map as I go down. So I imdiately ditch my current plan to go check that out.
Because loot.
