'I knew her influence was not small, but... To think she could casually promote herself to the rank of General without batting an eye. It seems I've underestimated her. Is she part of a high ranking noble family? Or, maybe the royal family itself?'
As the head of a war branch, naturally, Seraphina reserved certain rights to run it as she saw fit. However, increasing her own rank past the ceiling set for the General Support Unit was not sothing soone could do just because they were the head of the war branch. It required power and influence beyond that.
'I don't rember seeing anyone by the na of Seraphina in the Noble Lineage book I read in the Amaharpe Palace Library. But, if it's not that, then... Well, it's fine. I have a feeling that the answer will find one day. That aside, it's a sha she went back to sleep so soon. I wanted to ask her what took place that day during the Great Rebirth.'
Izroth learned about the Great Rebirth during his brief travels through Duke Sorkoza territory from a vretis skounae by the na of Valga.
According to Valga, the Great Rebirth was essentially a ritual that would transform a skounae Duke into a Night Lord. But, given that there was no news of a new Night Lord erging, it appeared that the ritual was successfully stopped.
The most shocking thing was that Seraphina, while she looked tired and acted more lazy than usual, there were no signs of her having suffered any serious injuries. If she truly did intrude upon the Great Rebirth and escaped with only so fatigue, Izroth speculated that she had to be at the peak of the legendary realm!
However, why was a person at the peak of the legendary realm acting as the re head of the General Support Unit? This was the part that Izroth did not understand fully.
"Oh! Cap- No, I guess it's Commander, now! Congratulations on your promotion!" Champion said cheerfully.
"Congratulations, Commander!" The mbers of the newly established Special Unit cheered.
"The Commander- No, I guess I should call her General now- Of the General Support Unit sure is quick to get things done. More importantly, how long has she been there?" Niflheim said as he looked up into the air and watched as Seraphina disappeared.
"At the very least, since I've arrived." Izroth stated calmly.
Izroth detected Seraphina's presence with his Energy Vision Sense. However, it was clear that she did not go out of her way to hide the traces of herself.
As for why she was present in the building, it most likely had to do with the fact that those of the General Support Unit were not typically given their own building. But, given the 9th Division's overall accomplishnts, an exception was likely made. And, since it was the only building in Danaharpe that housed mbers of the General Support Unit, Seraphina simply chose to reside in it out of pure convenience.
"Congratulations on your promotion, Commander. It appears that our plans to restructure the 9th Division can be done without issue." nerva comnted.
Now that Izroth held the rank of Commander, he went from being able to command around 150 troops to 1,200 troops. Furthermore, as a Commander, Izroth could originally assign up to eight Captains. However, since the rules were changed after he joined the General Support Unit as a Captain and the 9th Division was established, he was now capable of selecting nine Captains. Additionally, each Captain could have up to three Lieutenants.
It was just a promotion of a single rank, but it opened up a whole new world of possibilities.
'Initially, I thought it would take a few days to increase my rank because of the usual process. With this, we can move forward with things ahead of ti.'
"Well, first thing's first- Lieutenant Niflheim, Lieutenant nerva—for your efforts and achievents, the two of you are hereby promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain Niflheim, you will lead the 1st Special Division. Captain nerva, you will be in charge of the 2nd Special Division." Izroth stated.
"I won't you down." Niflheim said respectfully as he tapped his fists against his chest.
"I will do my utmost to uphold the trust you have placed in ." nerva replied in a straightforward manner.
Izroth turned to face the mbers of the Special Unit and said, "While I have so of my own plans, Captain Niflheim and Captain nerva will be in charge of promotions when it cos to their own Divisions. I trust their judgnt, so I won't interfere with the choices they make."
'Since everything is prepared, it's ti I call them over. It has not been that long, but it feels as though an eternity has passed. Has long has it been since I've looked forward to seeing so familiar faces?'
A light carefree smile ford on Izroth's face.
"By the way, where are Kol'Jil and Zel'Kan?" Izroth inquired.
Kol'Jil and Zel'Kan were mbers of the the Seventh Demon Clan assigned to Izroth by their clan's head.
Izroth knew his actions back in the heart of the Night Lord's Crypt undoubtedly left the two Seventh Demon Clan mbers in an anxious state. However, given how devout the two were to their clan, it was unusual that they left the 9th Division when Izroth instructed them to protect it in his absence.
Niflheim unleashed a heavy sigh as he shook his head and said, "I'd like to say I know, but truthfully, they just left in a hurry. It took so much convincing to get them to leave the Night Lord's Crypt after you didn't return from the spatial rift. To think they'd leave so suddenly, I didn't anticipate it at all. Still, I rember them saying sothing about the protective flas weakening before apologizing and rushing off."
"How long has it been since they departed?" Izroth inquired.
"They left around two days after you disappeared." Niflheim answered.
"I see. In that case, it's a good thing they left promptly and did not wait for my return. This matter can be set aside for now." Izroth responded.
'Did sothing happen at the Seventh Demon Clan? But, it's too early for the Princess of the Fifth Great Clan to make a move against them.'
Originally, the Seventh Demon Clan was tasked with capturing Izroth and delivering him to the Princess of the Fifth Great Clan, Luxia. However, since Izroth turned out to be their clan's benefactor, the Seventh Demon Clan effectively betrayed Luxia.
Izroth did not know much about Luxia except what he was told by the Thousand Blossom Maiden, Sychia. But, he knew that Luxia was the cautious and ruthless type. She was not a person who would take betrayal lightly. That being said, it was much too early for her to make a move against the Seventh Demon Clan, especially after Izroth interrupted her plans against the Order of a Thousand Blossoms.
Nevertheless, for Kol'Jil and Zel'Kan to hurry off ant that the situation was serious.
'It's a good thing my promotion ca faster than I anticipated. It looks like I will have to pay a visit to the Mother of All Forests soon.'
"I will leave things to you two. I have already prepared enough welcoming gifts and left them in your care, so don't be afraid to recruit more mbers. The finances of the Mystical Realm Palace can more than handle it. Just make sure you don't lower the standards I've set. Rember, no matter how talented or high level the person, our Special Unit has no place for them if they aren't trustworthy or dedicated to moving forward." Izroth reminded.
"Rest assured, we have no intention of lowering the bar you've set. We'll make sure the Special Unit becos the strongest around so that no one can look down on the General Support Unit." Niflheim said with a cheerful grin.
He then inquired, "But, where are you headed to?"
"I'm going to pay a visit to Commander Aurie." Izroth answered casually as he began to make his way toward the building's exit.
One of the seven heroes, Nova, was currently in a critical state after the events that transpired by the Night Lord's Crypt. Having one of the seven heroes out of commission was sothing detrintal to the Mortal Realm as a whole; therefore, Izroth planned to do what was in his power to heal her.
