"How’s Mrs. Mira?" Fiona asked Roderick as she served him the dinner.

"Much better. The doctor said that she can get discharged within one or two days," Roderick replied.

"That’s a relief. Take tomorrow with you to see Mrs. Mira. Also, if possible, stay with Ivy tonight. She needs you in this tough ti," Fiona told him before sitting on the chair next to him.

"Mom, Ivy wants to be alone," Roderick replied and began eating.

"Of course, she wants to. But you are going to be her husband soon, so you must stay with her in this tough ti," Fiona stated. "I want you to take the position of the chairman soon. Once your grandfather will be happy, I am sure he will return the position to you."

"Mom, it’s not that easy. Also, I think I made many mistakes while being the Director in the company. I’ve yet to learn a lot of things," Roderick asserted. "You should go to bed," he added.

Fiona humd and left for her room. She sat on the bed and looked at her phone. "Layla may be capable in Father’s eyes but she should never be the chairwoman. She knew it was my son’s birth right to be in that position. I need to do sothing for my son. I can’t stay quiet when it is about my son’s life," she murmured to herself.

Looking at the number of her brother, whom she had not talked for so many years, she decided to finally connect to him. He was the only one, who could help her even if he demanded sothing in return.

Dialing his number, Fiona waited for George to answer that call. Finally, it was picked.

"It’s been a long ti, Fiona," ca George’s voice from the other side. "I suppose you called because your son couldn’t beco the chairman. Even after so many years, you failed to grab anything in the De Salvo family," he taunted.

"Can we et tomorrow?" Fiona asked.

"Sure. Co ho tomorrow," George replied.

"Alright."

The call disconnected and Fiona rested the phone on the table. "I’m sorry, Layla, but this is about my son’s life, his ambitions. You can’t co in between them and I have to ruin you, then I’ll do it for my son’s sake," she pledged to herself.

Roderick pressed the house bell of Ivy’s villa and waited for the doors to open. The housemaid opened them after so ti.

"I am Roderick De Salvo. Is Ivy awake?" Roderick asked.

"Young Miss is in her room. I’ve no idea whether she’s asleep or awake. Please co inside," the housemaid welcod Roderick to the house.

"Please stay here. I’ll check on Miss Ivy," the housemaid humbly said, gesturing to the central couch of the living room.

Roderick took his seat quietly and looked at the ti on his watch. It was not late night, so he expected Ivy to be awake.

"Roderick, what are you doing here?" Ivy asked as she quickly descended the stairs and stopped midway.

He stood up from his place. "Mom wanted to stay with you tonight. I called you earlier but your phone was off, so I ca here," Roderick explained.

Ivy approached him and glanced at the housemaid, gesturing her to leave.

"I was unable to sleep. Mom is fine, but her health worries now," Ivy admitted the fear she had developed after this incident.

"The doctors have said that your mother is absolutely fine. Of course, first few months it is crucial to take a good care of her," Roderick said.

Ivy nodded her head in understanding and asked him if he would co upstairs with her.

"Are you inviting to your room?" Roderick arched his brow in amusent.

"It’s cold here. We can’t sit here the entire night," Ivy said. "You are mistaken if you think anything will happen between us," she pronounced, turning a little defensive as she rose to her feet.

"I was jesting. Why are you taking it serious?" Roderick chuckled and followed her upstairs.

"Because that’s not a nice joke. You and I are poles apart, who are together for a brief ti," Ivy stated as she ascended the stairs.

"But I never said that I would continue to act," Roderick affird, making her halt in the mid. She turned around and furrowed her brows together.

"I thought you were all in for it and didn’t have any kind of problem," Ivy stated, looking at him in disbelief.

"Treat nicely and I’ll act the way you want to," Roderick said, taking a step up, his face hovering above hers. "I’ve not forgotten how you humiliated ," he whispered.

Ivy inhaled deeply and nodded her head. "I’m sorry for that, Mr. De Salvo. I hope your kind corporation with for a while," she requested with a polite tone and fake smile.

"That sounds better," Roderick said and walked past her.

Ivy rolled her eyes and went behind him. Pushing the doors open, she allowed Roderick to walk into her room and closed the doors behind her.

"You live like a princess!" Roderick exclaid in amusent, seeing the decorations in the room. "Your personality isn’t like a soft, loving princess though," he remarked.

"You don’t even know ," Ivy said.

"You are right. I don’t know you," Roderick asserted. "Why did you allow a stranger into your room?" he suddenly changed his tone, turning to face her. "Have you forgotten the lesson from your parents not to let a stranger near you?"

Ivy sharply glared at him. "You are not likeable at all. I wonder what Layla and Orabela even saw in you," she muttered with an annoyed expression.

"Don’t bring them in our conversation," Roderick warned her.

"I won’t if you don’t tease ," Ivy stated. She then sat on the fluffy mattress, not realising the strap of her night gown had slipped off her shoulder along with the thin shawl she had wrapped around her.

"I called Elliot earlier. He has changed his number. I can’t believe this relationship ant so little to him." Both her eyes and tone revealed the pain that had filled her heart.
