Subaru started too walk, as he rembers how he et Julius, which happened a few weeks ago
Flash Back
Subaru was in the capital, as he was moving throught a group of people, as he was trying get the Volu 1 for Naruto, as Ram and Rem wanted it as well, after reading Emilia Copy and not finishing it, he could have given them his copy but his was the Author cut, and he still needed to hide that, as he was going too grab the book, it was then grabbed by soone else as he then looked who took the cover as it was Julius, as this was his first ti eting it.
Julius sighed as he spoke. "This better be worth putting too so much little sister".
Subaru blinked as he processed what he just heard. Wait... Julius Juukulius, the 'Knight of Knights'... is buying Naruto?
He stared at the book in Julius's hands, then at the knight himself.
"You read this stuff?" Subaru blurted out.
Julius turned his gaze toward him, raising an eyebrow at Subaru's bluntness. "I wouldn't say I read it—rather, I was sent here to buy it."
Subaru tilted his head. "Sent by who?"
Julius sighed. "My little sister, Fortuna. She wouldn't stop pestering about this book, so here I am."
Subaru's eyes widened in realization. Oh, right. Julius has a younger sister... Wait, Fortuna?!
"Hold up," Subaru said, crossing his arms. "Your sister is that Fortuna? The Fortuna?"
Julius gave him a puzzled look. "You know of her?"
Subaru quickly shook his head. "Nope, never mind. Forget I said anything."
"Dammit! That was close. Almost let my past life knowledge the witch gave "
Julius studied him for a mont but didn't press further. Instead, he glanced back at the book in his hands.
"Are you here to buy this as well?"
Subaru scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, my friends kinda forced to co. They read soone else's copy and now want one for themselves."
Julius humd thoughtfully. "I see. Well, I suppose I should get going before the store runs out."
Subaru watched as Julius turned toward the counter. His mind raced.
If Julius buys the last copy, that ans I have to go hunt for another store...
He glanced at the book in Julius's hand, then back at the shelves, which were indeed empty.
Damn it. What do I do?
Then, an idea struck him.
"Hey, Julius."
The knight stopped, looking at him with a questioning gaze. "Yes?"
Subaru smirked. "How about a deal?"
Julius raised an eyebrow. "A deal?"
Subaru nodded. "You give that book, and I'll tell you exactly what happens in it. That way, you don't have to read it yourself to tell your sister the story."
Julius considered this for a mont, then smirked. "Tempting, but I have a better idea."
Subaru narrowed his eyes. "Oh?"
Julius held the book up. "Let's have a duel. If you win, the book is yours. If I win, you owe a favor."
Subaru gulped. A duel? Against this guy?
He was about to refuse when he saw Ram and Rem walking into the store, scanning the shelves. If they saw him standing here without a book, they'd probably give him hell.
Taking a deep breath, Subaru clenched his fist.
"Alright, Knight-boy. You're on.
In a different places, this was an unofficial match between Subaru and Julius, as he was holding a wooden sword ssn Subaru was holding two wooden dagger, as he Actived [Phantom Blade Master] and he actived [Invisible Providence], as Subaru looked in trh stands where there bunch of civilan and Ram and Rem, and a young girl with the sa hair and eye color as Julius, she was Fortuna, apparently she only had the sa na not the sa person, so tis the 100% World Data Dowland was a pain in the ass.
[Typhon then spoke in Subaru mind. "Kick his ass Big bother"]
Fortuna then spoke from the stand looking a Julius. "Kick his ass Big Brother".
Subaru couldn't help but smirk at the irony of the situation—both his little sister in his head and Julius's real sister were cheering them on.
Julius, holding his wooden sword with practiced ease, chuckled. "It seems we both have our supporters, Subaru Natsuki."
Subaru spun his wooden daggers in his hands, feeling the weight. His [Phantom Blade Master] skill was already kicking in, subtly guiding his stance and grip. His [Invisible Providence] ability was also active, aning his unseen hands were ready to ss with Julius if needed.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's just get this over with, Knight-boy." Subaru smirked.
A referee—a senior knight overseeing the duel—raised his hand. "Ready... Begin!"
Julius moved first, dashing toward Subaru with graceful footwork. His sword ca in fast, a precise downward strike aid at Subaru's shoulder.
But Subaru had already moved.
With his [Air Glide] ability, he sidestepped mid-air, using the unnatural movent to avoid the strike entirely.
Julius's eyes widened. "Hoh? That's an interesting trick."
Subaru grinned. "I've got plenty more where that ca from."
He countered, swinging his daggers in a rapid flurry, aiming for Julius's sides. But the knight reacted instantly, parrying the attacks with fluid ease. Each strike Subaru made was deflected or redirected, Julius's swordsmanship proving why he was considered the best.
Damn, he's good. Subaru thought. But... I'm not bad either.
Subaru activated [Yin Step], vanishing from Julius's view for a split second before appearing at his blind spot. He slashed with his daggers—
But Julius twisted mid-motion, blocking the attack as if he had predicted it.
"Not bad, Subaru," Julius praised, his golden eyes shining. "You're much better than I expected."
Subaru clicked his tongue. Of course, this guy is a genius.
From the stands, Fortuna cheered. "Go, Big Brother! Show him your swordsmanship!"
anwhile, Ram and Rem watched with mild interest.
Ram, arms crossed, comnted, "Barusu is actually holding his own. That's unexpected."
Rem nodded. "Yes... but Sir Julius still has the advantage."
Back in the fight, Subaru knew he had to step it up.
"Alright, Knight-boy. Ti to see how you handle my next move."**
With a smirk, he activated [Yang Travel], his speed increasing drastically as he closed in for his next attack.
Julius then blocked the attack, as dust was kicked up as they looked at Eachother, pushing Eachother back.
Julius looker as he spoken. "Roswaal higher a great fighter".
Subaru looked as he spoke. "If you think I am impressive, you are gonna be surprised too see ili".
Then [Invisible Providence] Shadow arms moved and make Julius trip, sense no one but Subaru can see the hands, it was like Julius tripped on air.
Julius barely managed to regain his balance, landing gracefully but still visibly surprised. He narrowed his eyes at Subaru. "That was... unusual. Did you use magic?"
Subaru smirked, spinning his wooden daggers. "Who knows? Maybe you just tripped on your own arrogance, Knight-boy."
From the stands, Fortuna gasped. "Big Brother! Are you okay?"
Julius straightened himself, brushing off his sleeve. "I'm fine, Fortuna." He then looked at Subaru with a newfound seriousness. "I see now. You're full of tricks."
Subaru grinned. "And you're just realizing that now? Man, I thought you were supposed to be a genius."
Julius sighed. "Then I suppose I'll have to take you more seriously."
The knight took a new stance, one that Subaru recognized as the foundation of a true master swordsman. He moved, and this ti, his speed had doubled.
Subaru barely had ti to react as Julius's wooden sword ca at him in a precise arc. He instinctively activated [Shadow Step], phasing slightly into the shadows to avoid the blow, but Julius adjusted mid-strike, twisting his blade to graze Subaru's shoulder.
"Tch—!" Subaru winced as the impact stung. Even with a wooden sword, Julius's skill made every hit feel like a real weapon.
Julius smirked. "Your movents are tricky, but your technique is still incomplete."
Subaru clicked his tongue. "Yeah, yeah. But incomplete or not—"
Before Julius could react, Subaru activated [Air Glide] and [Yang Travel] at the sa ti, launching himself into the air at an unpredictable angle. He twisted mid-air, coming down with both daggers aid at Julius's open side.
"—I still fight dirty!"
Julius barely managed to parry the first dagger, but Subaru's second one was already swinging—until a sudden force pushed him back.
Subaru landed, blinking. "What the—?"
Julius exhaled, his golden eyes sharp. "You're not the only one with tricks."
In that mont, Subaru realized—Julius had used Spirit Arts, his unseen spirits pushing Subaru back without anyone noticing.
"Oh, co on!" Subaru groaned. "You're using invisible spirits now? That's cheating!"
Julius smirked. "Says the one who made trip on air."
The audience laughed, while Ram shook her head. "Barusu truly is shaless."
Rem, however, was watching closely. "Even so, he's doing better than expected."
The duel wasn't over yet. Both fighters reset their stances, their eyes locked. This match was far from decided.
Rem then looked at her sister as she spoken. "I think you are forgetting Subaru is more of assasin type Fighter then a knight".
Ram sighed, crossing her arms as she glanced at her younger sister. "That's exactly why this is a poor matchup for him, Rem. Julius is a trained knight, skilled in both offense and defense. anwhile, Barusu relies on trickery and unpredictability. Against soone like Julius, that won't be enough."
Rem, however, shook her head, her blue eyes filled with conviction. "I disagree, Sister. If Subaru was truly fighting as an assassin, he wouldn't be clashing head-on. He'd be using Julius's own confidence against him."
Ram raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Then let's see if your faith in Barusu is well-placed."
Back on the battlefield, Subaru wiped a bit of sweat from his forehead. "Okay, okay... so just running at you isn't gonna work. Noted."
Julius, maintaining his composed stance, smirked slightly. "You catch on quickly, but will you adapt in ti?"
Subaru grinned, his daggers twirling in his fingers. "Oh, don't worry about . I just realized I was playing your ga this whole ti."
Julius's smirk faltered slightly as he saw Subaru's stance shift. He was no longer facing Julius head-on. Instead, he lowered his body slightly, his movents becoming harder to predict. His presence... it was fading.
"This..." Julius thought. "He's switching to an assassin's approach."
Before Julius could fully adjust, Subaru activated [Yin Step], vanishing from view in an instant.
Julius's eyes darted around, trying to sense Subaru's presence, but—
"Too slow."
Julius barely turned in ti to block as Subaru reappeared behind him, swinging both daggers in a precise arc. The wooden sword clashed against Subaru's weapons, but Julius was now on the defensive.
Subaru grinned. "I don't need to be stronger than you, Knight-boy. I just need to be faster and smarter."
Julius narrowed his eyes, realizing that Subaru was now dictating the flow of battle. "Tch... then I'll just have to adjust."
The duel had truly begun.
Subaru then activate [Veil of innocence], As for everyone Subaru just disappeared, he didn't go Invisible just no one can sense him anymore.
[Carmilla then spoke in his mind. "I-i am h-happy to see y-you using my Authority More"]
Julius's eyes widened as Subaru seemingly vanished from his senses. His vision remained clear, but it was as if Subaru had ceased to exist entirely.
"What...?" Julius instinctively shifted his stance, keeping his wooden sword raised. His instincts scread at him to move, but without being able to perceive Subaru, his reaction ti was severely hindered.
From the stands, Rem and Ram watched intently.
"Sister... Subaru disappeared?" Rem asked in surprise.
Ram narrowed her eyes, trying to track him. "No, he's still there. Barusu just found another annoying trick to use."
anwhile, Fortuna, Julius's younger sister, leaned forward excitedly. "Big Brother, don't lose! You're the best knight in the kingdom!"
Julius exhaled, calming his mind. "So, this is what you're capable of, Subaru?" He closed his eyes briefly, focusing his mana to sharpen his spirit connection with his elental partners.
"Show ."
Just as he did, Subaru struck.
A wooden dagger slashed toward Julius's ribs from the left. Julius barely reacted in ti, parrying the strike with his sword, but Subaru was already gone before he could counterattack.
Another strike. This ti from behind.
Julius turned, swinging his sword with precision, but Subaru's dagger barely scraped against it before vanishing again.
Subaru grinned as he moved through the battlefield with ease. "[Veil of Innocence] makes it so that no one can sense , and with [Yin Step], I can attack from anywhere."
[Carmilla then spoke in his mind, her voice soft but excited. "Y-you're u-using my power so w-well, Subaru. I-I'm h-happy...!"]
Subaru smirked as he whispered. "Then let's make this even more fun."
He then activated [Phantom Blade Master], creating two illusory clones of himself.
Julius, still struggling to sense him, now saw three Subarus.
His grip on his sword tightened. "You're really pushing , aren't you?"
Subaru chuckled. "What's wrong, Knight-boy? You're the one who wanted a duel."
The real attack was coming—one that even Julius would struggle to counter.
"Match End".
Everyone stopped and looked at the old night. "This a draw".
Julius sighed as he sheathed his wooden sword. "A draw, huh? I suppose that's fair," he said, looking at Subaru with newfound respect. "You're an impressive fighter, Subaru Natsuki. Your style is unconventional, but undeniably effective."
Subaru dusted himself off and smirked. "Well, I aim to surprise. But man, you really don't hold back, huh? If this were a real fight, I'd have to pull out so tricks I'm not ready to show yet."
The spectators murmured among themselves. Ram crossed her arms, slightly impressed. "For once, Barusu isn't completely useless."
Rem, on the other hand, clapped excitedly. "That was amazing, Subaru-kun! You fought so well!"
Fortuna ran up to Julius, grabbing his arm. "Big Brother! That was so cool! But also unfair—Subaru tripped you with an invisible attack!"
Julius raised an eyebrow at Subaru, who only whistled innocently. "No idea what you're talking about," Subaru said with a grin, [Invisible Providence] still lurking in his shadow.
The old knight chuckled. "You both are strong, but pushing further would only cause unnecessary injuries. A draw is a fine outco for a first match."
Subaru shrugged. "Guess I'll have to take the win next ti, then."
Julius smirked. "We'll see about that."
With that, the match was officially over, but sothing told Subaru that this rivalry was just getting started.
End of flash back.
Subaru then looked at Emilia. "That is what you missed 2 weeks ago".
Emilia blinked in surprise, processing everything Subaru had just told her. "Wait... so you fought Julius, and it ended in a draw?"
Subaru nodded. "Yep. Not too bad for a so-called weakling, huh?"
Emilia pouted slightly. "I wish I could've seen it. It sounds like it was an amazing fight."
Subaru smirked. "Don't worry, Emilia-tan. If you want, I can always challenge Julius again. This ti, I'll make sure you get front-row seats."
Emilia giggled. "I'll hold you to that!"
Just then, Ram walked by and overheard them. "Barusu, stop telling half-truths. The match was only a draw because the knight didn't want to hurt you too much."
Subaru huffed. "Oi, that's slander! I held my own just fine!"
Ram smirked. "If you say so, Barusu."
Rem, standing nearby, clasped her hands together. "I think Subaru-kun did an amazing job! And I'm sure next ti, he'll win for sure!"
Subaru grinned, putting a hand on his chest dramatically. "Thank you, Rem! Finally, soone who appreciates my greatness!"
Roswaal, who had been silently observing, finally spoke up. "Hoooh... quite the eventful two weeks you've had, Subaru-kun. It seems your training is paying off."
Subaru shrugged. "Well, I gotta be ready for anything, right?"
Roswaal chuckled. "Indeed. But do be careful, Subaru-kun. Rivalries with knights can lead to... unexpected complications."
Subaru raised an eyebrow. "Unexpected complications?"
Before Roswaal could elaborate, Emilia grabbed Subaru's hand. "Co on, Subaru! Let's go for a walk in the capital! I want to check out so shops before it gets too late."
Subaru smiled. "Sure thing, Emilia-tan."
As they walked off, Roswaal simply watched, a knowing smile on his face. "Unexpected complications, indeed..."
