Pangubox stepped forward, his staff kissing the ground heavily, and then he stopped before Brother shadow. Even with his height, Pangubox was nothing compared to Brother Shadow.
Pangubox gave him a weary smirk. "It took the death of millions of magicians all carrying the curse, their blood washing through the streets and every gutter of the Holy city and sinking deep into its earth, and even more so, the blood of our Night Mistress, but it was finally done."
On saying this, he dug his hand into one of his open large sleeves, and from it ca a beating heart. This heart looked very fresh, as if it had only been plucked from the chest of the one that had it.
It was still dripping in blood, but it beat thunderly and steadily. In its center was a rune, like a snake eating its own tail, continually moving about the heart but always eating its own tail.
This snake was purple in color.
Brother Black’s red eyes seed to shine in elation at the sight of this. And then he raised his hands which still oozed in shadow like liquid and then he brought it up to his face. He sniffed it. Taking deep breaths. "Good! good!! my daughter, you have done well. Dying a befitting death so that I, your father may rise in glory." He chuckled a bit.
However, at such a ti, Pangubox spoke up, "Master! are you going to carry out vengeance for the Night mistress and her mother before her, who was also our Night Mistress, and your most loyal servant?"
The question was a straight forward one, but it made Brother Shadow’s eyes show his discontentnt with a frown, "do not vex Pangubox. You... earthly magicians are just tools for my glory, as were your Night Mistress, and my daughter that fell from the parting of her whore legs. And when it cos to this ga of power, Sacrifices must be made. Or do you intend that I waste my precious ti seeking revenge for every pawn that falls, or cannon fodder that I bait my enemy with?"
Pangubox frowned at his words, but no sooner did he imdiately swallow back the words that he had wanted to say and instead replace his frown with a bitter smile.
Obviously, this smile had been too hard for him to form, but he was a well old practiced man at the act of pretense. After all, one did not dabble in the ga of those in power, Demi gods and gods so long as to see old age and not know a few skills here and there.
Was he happy about the outco? No he was not.
For as long as he could rember to see, Brother Shadow had been his master. The one that seats far above the mortal world but had long chosen him, a re human to act as his instrunt in the known mortal world.
A long ti Brother Shadow had his plans in place. At a ti, Pangubox had thought maybe it might have abeen a few centuries, but as he grew older, he had realized how wrong he was.
After all, one did not just beco the head of the Demi gods by ans of power alone. A certain ability was mixed in it.
He had seen how the Seer treated mortals. he had seen how she treated them less like the at balls in soup, and yet, he knew that it was nothing compared to Brother Shadow.
Brother shadow could go to extre lengths to get what he wanted. And what he wanted right now, was the sit of power of the seer.
That chair was important to him. After all, right now, in the known world, she was the only person able to co close to comparing with his power, too close for comfort for that matter.
And he saw her as a threat. Not just to his ruling sit, but to his ascension as a god.

Besides, to acquire the position he now occupied, Brother Shadow had done unspeakable things. It was fair to say that he was not the one that was always in charge of the Demi gods of this world, and the person that owned the position before him never ascended to godhood.
The ga of power was a very fragile thing. Trust was not gifted to no one else, but to ones own ability, and the ability to manipulate the world to twist to one’s favor.
Pangubox looked at the figure, whose face he had never seen, and sighed lowly. tears threatened to fall from the side of his eyes but he forced them back. how could he not? Such weakness was not to be shown and especially not before the monster before him.
The source of magic in this world was a mystery. Not even pangubox could claim he knew it.
But he knew that the only reason he used it, as well as those others that called themselves magicians was because of this Demi god before him.
aning that in truth, unknown to all, even the Seer, every magician was his kin, at least, their origins was by his rcies.
And brother Shadow had been the orcherator of the plan so far. of course, the Night Mistress had not been so aware of her own role in it.
All she had known was that her mother was taken from her and her target of revenge had been the Seer.
She had done all in her power to have the holy church owe a debt to the magicians in the last war with the Elf king and then The War of the fingers of solitude.
Besides, as a result of not understanding the power behind magic, the seer had taken them in.
It was always best to have such power as an ally than as an enemy.
And for a while, things worked out. The Holy church had taken in the magicians and they had intergrated themselves with its system.
And in so cases, even began to take its church sermons most seriously, even though they did not worship any of its patron gods or goddesses. They was even the intension to finally rge the magicians and the holy church together, as the Seer had personally betrothed Eunid to the Night Mistress.
Even though at the ti, the Diligence Family were the failing family, it did not matter. The significance of it all was the most important thing.
However, this was all peace based on obvious illusion. At least, the magicians at the core of their hearts knew it. Besides, the closest to the reins of power was the magistrate. The one that acted as a diator between the Magician and the Holy church.
There was also the fact that the knights of the holy church that were magicians all never passed the rank of silver cultivators.
For so unknown reason, their powers never peaked past this point and they were therefore never promoted to the ranks of Gold knights.
Then again, the seer never asked why and was sure happy to not give them much power.
The night mistress had waited and bid her ti for a very long while.
But when the Seer had left the seat of power unguarded in order to go take care of a threat like Manu Madayaki, the Nioght Mistress had assud that this was her chance to strike.
Pangubox acted as her adviser. But in truth, he was her controller, directing her ways as the intension of his master.
But as one might guess, things were not always as they seed. For pangubox along the line had fallen in love, firstly, with the woman of the child and when she died, his love had fallen upon her daughter.
Yes, he loved her more than just her adviser or her teacher, or even her mothers old friend. he loved her as a woman.
And it hurt him even more when they had to face the finger of solitude Thalus, and he knew that they had no chance of winning, and so he had dug his hand through her back, and ripped out her heart, while it still beat with life.
At the ti, the smoke of the battle had obstructed the place and even Thalus had not seen his hand move.
Pangubox had watched as she fell to the ground, her eyes staring at him in surprise and hurt.
Even now, that look in her eyes still hunted him. And the tears that fell from them.
To further cent his the plan, he had waved his hand, giving her head a clear cut from her neck.
After all, for the curse that was to be used to work, sacrifices, significant sacrifices must be made. And the Night mistress just so happened to be one of them.
Pangubox looked behind him. There, the Magistrate had a look in his eyes. It was a mix of sha and determination. It was as if both n had spoke at length, but it was only with their eyes.
