anwhile, in yet another room, Alfred was addressing Arid.

"You are much stronger than him, but do not underestimate Eunid. There is a reason that he called a genius of your generation and even though you are of superior cultivation to him, you are not."

Arid frowned at that statent. It had truly been a torn in his flesh.

After all, he had trained hard and was born with an A=grade Dantain. As far as he was concerned, he deserved to be on that list. However, he was not.

Only one of each family of the Virtues family was given that title of being a genius. Even though people within the diligent Family called him a Genius, he did not in the least feel like it.

And now, Alfred was rubbing it in his face.

However, he had no choice but to swallow it. Alfred was the person that had invited him, telling him that Eunid had not been diligent in his training and that was why his cultivation was so low.

After all, others of the sa age within the other families were at the fifth or sixth of the bronze rank and many had even grown even further, entering the silver ranks.

And everyone knew that the higher one went in cultivation, the harder it was to grow. It was even more so if the person was already an adult.

For this reason, cultivation was pushed to the young ones from a very young age. The only family that did not priotize cultivation so much was the Dwarfs that were far more interested in the carving of runes, and the comprehension that ca with it.

Alfred had told Arid that this was his opportunity to beco head of the family. Of course, before this, such lofty aspirations had not been in his mind. But Alfred had very sweet words, and also told Arid that he was going to guarantee his success.

Arid had agreed to this.

However, right now, he swore within his heart that once he beca heir, he was going to find a way to deal with Alfred for talking to him the way he did.

Alfred was not aware of this, and continued to give advice. And then he waved his hand, "Dwarf!" he called out.

The naless dwarf, a very shroud figure that worked under Alfred stepped out of the shadows.

"Give it to him."

The dwarf bowed respectfully and walked forward. He took Arid’s arm and then he brought out a roll of core beast skin.

On bringing it out, the skin gave a low glow.

Arid frowned at this. "That’s... that’s the skin of an awakened core beast."

Alfred nodded.

Awakened core beasts are quite rare. After all, once awakened, they usually beca more like humans, hence the zodiac families.

All the core beasts that humans used were not awakened and the only reason they survived in this place was because of the sa reason that slaves and servants could survive within the veil. It was because of the slave label that had been placed on their skin.

A cultivator of lower rank that had awakened could easily beat a cultivator of superior rank that had not awakened. Of course this was dependent on the difference in ranking. But it was common knowledge.

After all, one was more in connect with the Dao than the other one.

Core beasts were even more favored than humans were. As such, core beasts that were awakened were a treasure, used for the making of runes and even spiritual herbs and pills. However as a result of the round table, having such a treasure was considered illegal.

Regardless of disputes, no one was allowed to harvest the bodies of one that was awakened.

This was a rule placed by the zodiac families.

Just possession of such a treasure was a death sentence. However, Alfred had such an item. But that was not all. It had been used for sothing of incredible importance.

And that was in the creation of runes.

Runes needed a dium. They were generally a translation of energy, channeling power into a more useful form.

They were many that simply used the elents in their carving of runes. But for the runes to be more effective, a dium for life was best.

It was for this reason that so used blood, after all, it was easily accessible, but the holy church saw that as the way of demons and blood runes were also considered a cri. At least to common knowledge.

It was not as if there were not those that did it all in secret.

However, the ban ensured that runes were generally carved using materials such as core beasts parts.

Depending on the strength of the core beast and the part of the core beast used, the power of the rune varies.

For this reason, they were many people that mixed up different parts of creatures, not just core beasts, to produce runes for specifically to achieve a desired outco.

Of course, one’s foundation in runes has to be as firm as possible to be able to get the right mixture, and compatibility of organic matter, or the differentiation of it.

It was another reason why Alfred greatly valued this dwarf that served under him.

After all, the dwarfs were a proud race, besides a broken stick was still a stick, it just dependent on how one used it.

The core beast skin that had been brought out had a carving of a rune that looked like the head of bull on it.

"I had the dwarf prepare this item specially for you. Once activated, it cannot be stopped and can only be used once. I’ll advice that you use it wisely."

Arid had his eyes shinning as he gazed on the skin.

However, he did not realize that Alfred also had a shinning gaze on him. It was as if he was looking at a toy that he wanted to enjoy playing with.
