Arriving in a secluded alleyway, Ethan scanned for witnesses.

After thirty minutes of checking if anyone would co through, Ethan concluded that it was relatively safe for his next action.

'There are no windows overlooking this spot. Perfect.'

'Ti to level up,' he thought, retrieving two Bronze cores from his storage ring.

The first core—his ticket to true agility—pulsed with blue energy in his palm. Its power called to him, promising speed beyond human limitations.

'Need to sneak back into District Three,' he calculated, studying the guard patterns from the shadows.

Ethan counted quickly. Three Low-Bronze commanders. Fifteen lesser guards ranging from Mid-Iron to Peak-Iron.

'Child's play now,' he thought, activating Enhanced Speed.

The guards' attention focused inward toward District Three—watching for desperate people trying to sneak up, not privileged ones trying to sneak down. Who would voluntarily go from luxury to squalor?

The very concept was absurd to them.

Ethan darted between shadows, his movents too quick for normal eyes to track. His new Bronze-rank Agility, coupled with his Enhanced Speed talent, made him incredibly fast.

He reached the wall's base, calculating angles.

'Three guards are on patrol. But if I ti it correctly, i would be able to slip through a blind spot.'

He scaled the wall in seconds, his fingers finding minute cracks and holds.

At the top, he froze as a guard passed just five feet away.

The guard paused, frowning. "Did you hear sothing?"

His partner yawned. "Probably rats. There are always rats in Three."

"I guess so," The guard shrugged.

The mont they turned, Ethan vaulted over the wall, his descent controlled and silent. He landed in an alley on the District Three side, instantly blending with the dingy surroundings.

'Too easy,' he thought, brushing dust from his clothes.

The buildings leaned against each other like drunks supporting one another.

Ho, such as it was.

Ethan oriented himself quickly.

'I can't go back to the military, I would be dood.' He thought, with a soft frown.

His only option was to lie low for the next couple of days, and according to his estimates. His hiding would only be for a day or two before the monsters start swarming the city.

He would then be able to roam free and gather more strength.

At that ti, Han Wei's dad wouldn't have the ti to look for him with the ongoing war with the beasts.

'I should be able to reach at least Peak-Bronze rank when the beast tide hits. With all my talents, i would be able to face the general, even if he was low-silver rank,' He thought
