Thanks to Alice Turner’s tily intervention, a potential marital battle was averted, but she still didn’t dare to completely relax; her nerves remained tense.
Sophia Wood glanced at Christopher Turner, got up, and left the living room to return to her room.
"Dad! Aren’t you going to check on Mom? She seems upset." Seeing Sophia Wood silently get up and return to her room, Alice Turner knew she was angry and reminded Christopher Turner to check on the situation.
She felt that her dad stepping in now would be more effective than her attempts; anything she said now would be futile and saying too much would only upset her mom.
Christopher Turner was also in a bad mood for not achieving his own goals, "Let her cool down a bit."
He’s still bothered, but who would co and console him?
Seeing Christopher Turner’s firm attitude, Alice Turner didn’t dare persuade him further, barely sighing under her breath, unsure of what to say next.
"What exactly happened yesterday?"
When Christopher Turner ca ho last night, Sophia Wood was lying on the bed with a displeased look. He asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn’t say.
Later, at dinner, she wouldn’t eat either. He asked Auntie Hua what happened, and she said she didn’t know.
Christopher Turner didn’t know that Auntie Hua said she didn’t know because Sophia Wood ordered her to say that.
With today’s commotion, he thought Sophia Wood’s anger must be related to Lily Turner, and he believed Alice Turner must know what happened.
Upon hearing Christopher Turner ask about what happened yesterday, Alice Turner’s heart jumped.
Just as she was thinking about how to respond, she heard Christopher Turner ask again, "Did your mom argue with Lily again? It must be related to Lily and Easton Hols getting married, right?"
From the mont the topic of Lily Turner and Easton Hols’s marriage was brought up, Sophia Wood had been particularly agitated and angry, and Christopher Turner felt it very keenly.
So much so that he assud Sophia Wood had argued with Lily Turner over her marriage to Easton Hols.
Hearing Christopher Turner ask about yesterday’s events, Alice Turner thought he knew what happened yesterday, but now hearing his comnt, she realized he wasn’t aware of the situation.
"They just had a few words, nothing too big." She wasn’t there yesterday, so she wasn’t clear on the exact details, but it’s certain there was a quarrel between the mother and daughter.
"Just a few words?"
Christopher Turner was very skeptical of Alice Turner’s account; he wasn’t blind, nor deaf. He saw the situation clearly, and he heard everything Sophia Wood said.
Alice Turner could see that her dad didn’t believe what she said, but she didn’t offer any explanation. She just nodded toward her dad: "Hmm."
After that "Hmm," she didn’t say another word.
"Then why is your mom so angry?"
Christopher Turner posed his question once more, hoping Alice Turner could give him a clear answer, but again, her answer left him disappointed.
"Maybe Mom is upset that Lily didn’t tell her about the marriage," Alice Turner, though not entirely sure of the situation, had so idea of why Sophia Wood was angry.
But she felt she didn’t fully understand; was it really just for that reason?
If she had told her in advance, would her mom really not be angry? She doubted it.
Christopher Turner stared at Alice Turner for quite a while, and just when Alice Turner thought he wouldn’t speak, he slowly said, "How are things between you and Benjamin?"
