As Lily Turner spoke, Christopher Turner and Sophia Wood both looked at her, but their expressions were different.
Seeing her parents both looking at her, Lily suddenly realized what she had just said and quickly began to explain: "Alice is so capable and beautiful. I believe there will definitely be a better man who genuinely likes her."
That better man had already appeared, but she couldn’t tell them about it yet.
Hearing Lily’s explanation, the light that had just appeared in Christopher’s eyes suddenly dimd. Just now, he thought Alice had found that better man, but it turned out to be his own misunderstanding.

Sophia interrupted Lily’s denial directly because as a mother, she could tell if her daughter was lying.

She anxiously reminded her mom to keep this matter a secret.

"That man is Thomas Fisher!"

Sophia found the na Thomas Fisher very familiar, but for the mont she couldn’t recall who he was, although she was sure she had heard the na before.
Seeing her mom looking puzzled, Lily explained, "You’ve t him. On the day of mine and Easton’s wedding, he was one of Easton’s best friends."
She helped her mom rember, her eyes quietly observing if her mom could recall anything at all.
"I rember now, that Thomas Fisher is the man who went to a restaurant with your sister that day." Hearing Lily’s explanation, Sophia rembered who Thomas Fisher was and, knowing that Thomas and Benjamin Shaw were good friends, she suddenly beca tense, "Your sister and he..."
Now, it wasn’t necessary to know how they got together, but she was really worried about the situation they would face in the future.
Sophia’s worry was shared by Lily too. She could foresee so of the situations Alice and Thomas would face, and precisely because she could anticipate the future, she couldn’t help but worry.
