"Charles, why aren’t you in your room? I waited for a long ti," said the blonde woman with black eyes as she sweetly hugged Charles’ arms.
Charles, feeling a bit uneasy, quickly removed the young woman’s hands from his arm and spoke in a hushed tone, "Mind your actions. We are in the elevator." As he glanced around, he noticed the young princess standing at the corner, seemingly observing both of them through the reflection of the mirror. Charles felt a sense of discomfort as their gazes locked for a fleeting second.
Princess Amaya’s heart tightened with a familiar feeling as she looked at a woman flirting with a man before her. mories tried to resurface, but she forced them out. She frowned and studied the blonde woman, wondering how she could shalessly display her intimacy with her man in the elevator.
Donello turned to his sister and brought up the news he had heard earlier. "Sis," he said with a curious tone, "I heard from a reliable source that King Ralden will also be gracing the banquet with his presence. Do you think our cousin Zanzara is accompanying him?" Donello was focused on his sister, oblivious to his surroundings, including the blonde woman who scanned him from head to toe.
Charles paused montarily and glanced fleetingly at the young prince, who was wearing a black tuxedo, and the princess, who was standing tall beside him.
"I don’t know, Don. Let us see later," Amaya replied casually. She was still looking at the numbers on top of the elevator door fra. She didn’t know, but she wanted to be out of the elevator as she felt suffocated standing in the sa space as the man whom she had bumped into earlier. He was slightly thinner than Marx, but they were of the sa height.
Princess Amaya led the way out of the elevator on the second floor, followed by Prince Donello, while Charles and his companions remained inside.
"I’ll escort you out, Adelle. Be good and go back ho." Charles said expressionlessly. He pressed the button to the ground floor.
"No, Charles, I don’t want to go ho. I want to be your date for the gala dinner," the woman said, pouting and attempting to loop her arm around Charles’ elbow.
Charles glared at her, and Adelle retracted her hand.
"Charles Gray, you are so an. I will tell Daddy that you are bullying . And you know what would happen when Dad gets angry. Nobody can bully Adelle Black," She declared smugly.
Charles’ temples throbbed. Of course, he knew what kind of person Adelle’s father was.
"Adelle, that is a gala dinner for the athletes. It is not a social party. Those are students from different universities across the world. It is not the right party for you, as you will die of boredom." Charles tried to explain patiently.
"Hmm, you’re right. Maybe I should ask Daddy to speed up our engagent party so we can officially beco a couple. That way, I’ll be attending a party that’s just right for ," Adelle said sweetly.
Charles pursed his lips. They arrived at the lobby, and a black Rolls Royce awaited them.
Charles opened the back door for her. He waited until Adelle had settled and buckled up. Then, he signaled the driver, who started the engine and left.
"Boss, are you going to get engaged to that woman?" the assistant, wearing black-rimd glasses, asked.
Charles humd lightly.
"But you don’t like her, do you?"
"It is just an engagent. A lot can still happen before the marriage," Charles said after pondering. He led the way to the spiral staircase and opted not to take the elevator.
Charles and his assistant, Liam, entered the banquet hall through the thick, intricately designed wooden door. As Charles scanned the hall, his gaze landed on a woman wearing a simple but elegant champagne-colored cocktail dress that hugged her figure perfectly. The dress’s unique one-shoulder design exposed much of her skin, including her slender neck and collarbone.
She was surrounded by her brother Donello, the crown prince of Albania, Professor Stephane Gray, and a few other n and won. They must either be athletes of Lireya or Albania.
Charles and Liam found their assigned seat. They did not sit imdiately but socialized with the political contingent from the different countries.
Charles watched the table assigned to Lireya silently. He saw that the Prince of Albania competed with Professor Stephane Gray to cozy up with the Princess. Princess Amaya tilted her head toward Prince Raquim as he whispered sothing in her ear, and she gave him a hearty laugh.
He felt envious of the n who surrounded her. He wanted to be close to the princess and hear her laughter. However, before he could take a step toward their direction, he noticed that King Ralden had joined them at their table. Accompanying the king was a beautiful young lady who appeared to be the sa age as Princess Amaya.
"Mr. Gray! I finally got to et the elusive Charles Gray, president of the number one university in Uropa. I am from Chaneya." A man in his early fifties with a goatee shalessly introduced himself.
I have heard that President Gray, although in his post for less than two years, has contributed significantly to the university’s rise to the number one spot, surpassing the unbeatable Usturia State University.
Charles looked at the older man with indifference as he talked about opportunities for exchange students, which bored Charles. But just as Charles was about to excuse himself, the man with the goatee said sothing that caught his attention and made him pause.
"The pri minister sends his greetings to Mr. Ludwig Black. I hope you can convey his ssage that Mr. Black can count on him for ’collaboration.’"
"I apologize if I didn’t catch your na earlier," Charles Gray said, focusing on the middle-aged man, who, with his athletic build, appeared younger than his years.
"It is Jack Chen; coach of Chaneya’s archery team." The man with the goatee extended his hand for a handshake, which Charles accepted.
Charles raised his eyebrows. He did not believe that he was just a simple coach.
"If Mr. Chen has ti, I’ll treat you to a al one of these days before the tournant ends." Charles Gray offered politely.
Jack Chen smiled as if what Charles said was in accordance with his expectations. "I will trouble Mr. Gray, then."
Charles Gray excused himself and walked towards the Lireyan and Albanian delegations.
