Chapter 298: Hypnotizing Her

The day of the crown prince’s birthday arrived, and everyone in the palace was busy.

Princess Amaya was bored and decided to spend her ti in the museum while waiting for the guests to arrive.

True to his word, King Duncan had Ibrahim’s portrait hung on the wall along the hallway leading to Asteria’s Museum. The hallway was five ters long and on both sides were the portraits of Asteria’s kings and princes who made a lot of contributions to the country.

It was the third ti that Amaya visited the place. During her first visit, she scrutinized each of the portraits of the previous kings. She admired the workmanship of the artists.

She lingered in front of the painting of the first King of Lireya and as she studied his face, she realized that the first king had the sa piercing gaze as her Daddy Ibrahim. Amaya smiled sadly. Maybe if her father was alive, he would be a great king, like King Amiro.

Princess Amaya walked slowly to the other end of the hallway where two newly frad portraits were hung. She gingerly extended her hand to the last portrait.

"Happy birthday, Daddy. I missed you. I missed the tis we spent alone on the island." She felt her chest tightened and her eyes reddened.

Suddenly, she felt the sensation of being watched and then a sensual and audacious scent made the edge of her nose tingle. She could sll a combination of tantalizing fruity head notes of apple, blackcurrant, pink pepper, and bergamot with a complentary fresh and fruity heart of jasmine, pineapple, and patchouli.

Princess Amaya was in a trance. She tilted her head to the left and in her line of sight were lips that stretched and slightly parted, revealing a set of pearly white teeth.

She looked up to gaze into a pair of black orbs that seed to draw her soul.

Princess Amaya bit her lips and blinked a few tis to force herself out of the trance. She clenched her fist and dug her fingernails in the flesh of her palms. Her mind cleared for a bit.

"Hello, Princess. Long ti no see. I expected to see you yesterday but you seed to avoid ." King Ralden’s hypnotic voice clouded her mind.

He reached out to take her hand and brought it to his lips. The feel of his lips on the back of her hand sent shivers on Amaya’s body. Her emotions were in turmoil. It took her a lot of effort to pull her hand away.

"Your Majesty!" She said breathlessly. She did not like what she was feeling. It seed to be that she was losing herself. She stepped back and forced herself to face the portrait of her father. She gazed into his gentle eyes and the haziness that fogged her mind was gone.

"Where is cousin Zanzara, your Majesty?" Amaya glanced at the King briefly before focusing on Ibrahim’s painting. The man was dangerous. She was thinking how she could get away from him.

King Ralden was wearing the traditional Ra-Iyan costu for the royal family. He was wearing a white suit for his inner garnt which was decked out with elaborate ornants of diadems and chains. A military ribbon on his left lapel peeked out of his purple mantle.

He looked handsoly dignified and his aura scread of power and wealth. He stepped closer to Amaya and the Princess stood frozen in her place.

"Your cousin is catching up with Tatiana. I was bored so I tried to look around for sothing to interest

and my feet led

here." His voice that reached Amaya’s hearing was very pleasant and lodious. She liked to listen to his voice.

"Princess, why don’t you tour

around the museum?" King Ralden urged her with his gentle tone.

Princess Amaya’s subconscious wanted to refuse but her conscious mind could not reject him when he asked.

"Oh, there you are. I have been looking for you everywhere." A deep voice penetrated Amaya’s groggy mind.

"Marx, thank God, you are here." Amaya sighed with relief.

A glint crossed King Ralden’s eyes and he clenched is fast. But when he turned around to look at the intruder, the glint was gone but he did not hide his annoyance.

"Greetings, King Ralden." Marx greeted the king casually. He was not his subject so he was not bound by the rules of the monarchy. He treated him like he would treat a business associate.

King Ralden’s face beca even colder. He glared at Marx. Marx simply shrugged his shoulders and approached Amaya. He looked at the portrait on the wall.

"Beautiful! The painting looks realistic. Look at your Daddy looking very gentle and doting." Marx looked at Amaya. His eyes filled with gentleness. "I suppose that is how he looked at you?"

Amaya nodded.

A gentle breeze blew from the other end of the hallway. The museum was located near the exit to the west garden. Soone must have opened the door for the breeze to blow in.

Amaya caught a whiff of King Ralden’s perfu and she was montarily dazed. Marx also slled the scent. He frowned when he noticed Amaya’s dazed state. He stole a furtive glance at the king standing nearby pretending to study the portraits on the wall. He also slled the perfu but was not affected so he did not know what was wrong with Amaya.

"Let us go. I think you need so fresh air." He dragged Amaya from the hallway without looking back.

King Ralden watched the back of the two people until they disappeared. His face turned nacing and red from anger. He closed his eyes and relaxed. When they opened them , he was back to the charismatic king of Ra-Iya.

Kin Ralden lingered in front of Ibrahim’s portrait. He studied it and wondered how a painting could have released Amaya from his hypnosis. That woman’s will was stronger than expected. He used his most soothing voice coupled with olfactory imagery to hypnotize her but he failed because other than the painting which countered the effects of his hypnosis, soone also intervened.

"Marx, so that is your na. You will pay for ruining my plan today."
