Chapter 294: Doting On Her

Fiona looked at Marx as he scooped the peeled shrimps in anticipation. However, Marx placed them on Amaya’s plate.

Fiona’s face turned ugly. Her manager and assistant who were sitting opposite looked at her with concern.

"Thank you." Amaya turned to Marx and smiled at him. "There are too many of them. Three pieces should be enough. You can give the rest to Miss Miley." Amaya said gently and pushed the plate of peeled shrimp to Fiona.

Fiona was fuming. ’Does she think that I will accept her leftover?’ She gave her a forced smile. "It is okay, Princess. I am allergic to shrimp."

Julienne who previously saw her looking at Marx peeling the shrimp with anticipation raised an eyebrow and smirk.

"Oh, it is a pity. This restaurant is famous for its shrimp. This one is cooked in garlic, butter, and sprite." Amaya used her fork to pick a piece of shrimp and placed it into her mouth.

The garlic made it sll so appetizing. Fiona swallowed her saliva. Shrimp was her favorite.

Her assistant saw the longing in Fiona’s eyes.

"Miss Riyanah, you should be able to eat that shrimp. I have your antihistamine here. Besides, one or two pieces could not trigger your allergy."

Fiona silently praised her assistant for her quick wit.

"Marx, since you have already peeled so for the Princess, can you also peel a few for ?" She asked in a coquettish voice.

Julienne’s hair stood on their ends.

Dave who was busy looking at his cellphone paused and gave Fiona a aningful look. Even Amaya who did not have any idea of Fiona’s coquetry sensed that sothing was wrong. She glanced sharply at Fiona and caught her looking at Marx’s side profile with infatuation.

Marx who was still wearing disposable hand gloves picked two shrimps that Amaya rejected and placed it on Fiona’s plate.

Fiona: "..."

She hesitated but in the end, picked up the shrimp with her fork.

"When did you have a shrimp allergy, Fiona? I rembered last ti, that shrimp is one of your favorites." Marx comnted matter-of-factly.

Fiona who was about to put the fork into her mouth froze. Indeed, she ate shrimp the last ti she and her daddy had lunch with the Skylar family.

"Oh, I don’t know how I suddenly beca allergic. Maybe sothing triggered it." Fiona tried to sound casual.

Amaya was looking for sothing on the table but did not find it. She forgot to tell her lady guard to order a fried chicken.

Marx saw her actions. He gestured to a waiter and ordered a platter of fried chicken.

The waiter was very efficient. He ca back with a plate of fried chicken in less than ten minutes.

Marx ordered the waiter to place the plate of fried chicken beside Amaya.

Fiona glared at Amaya. She did not know what Marx had seen in her that he was so attentive to her. Wasn’t she more beautiful than the princess?

She was picking on her food but throwing furtive glances at the Princess. She admitted that the Princess was beautiful but she felt that her beauty was of a different level compared to her.

Marx was very attentive to Amaya during the dinner. He even wiped the corner of her mouth when it was sared with a red sauce.

Fiona was jealous. She regretted dragging the Princess to the dinner. She should have tried harder to invite Marx to have dinner with her alone.

She was both dejected and angry. She sent a ssage to her father complaining that Marx was not taking care of her. Instead, he was preoccupied with the Princess of Lireya.

In a luxurious conference room in SkyScapes, the chilling atmosphere was suddenly broken by the ringtone of a giggling girl.

All eyes were trained on Governor Chase who in his panic dropped his phone on the carpeted floor.

Who would use such a ringtone for a notification?

Governor Chase was thankful that her daughter only sent her a ssage and she did not call. However, Fiona sent a barrage of ssages and her giggles continued to fill the big conference room.

"Governor Chase, can you turn your cell phone to silent mode? Didn’t we announce earlier that all cell phones should be in silent mode?" Governor Peterson’s vexed voice made Governor Chase blush in embarrassnt. He hurriedly picked up his phone and turned it off.

"I hope that everyone understood the severity of the problem in the three provinces. Unless it is a matter of ergency, do not attend to your cell phones." He glanced at Governor Chase not hiding his displeasure.

Governor Chase pursed his lips. ’Why does he need to call it out twice? I already turned off my phone.’ He muttered.

Governor Peterson was three votes ahead of him in the last election for the lead position which was known as the Supre Governor in the League of Governors of Usturia.

The incumbent supre governor called for an ergency eting because there were reports of unusual attacks in the outskirts of Province 10, Province 11, and Province 12. These three provinces share a common border which is the majestic but deadly mountain ranges of Haiyan.

"According to the report, the wild animals in the jungle went berserk and attacked the residents in the villages living at the foot of the mountain. There were a few deaths and many were injured." The supre governor paused as photos of the victims were displayed on the screen behind him. He was standing behind the podium on an elevated platform.

Gasps were heard from the audience. The photos of those who died were grueso.

"Haiyan is a protected zone. There shouldn’t be any illegal loggers or illegal mining that operate in that area. How could the animals leave their habitat and attack the humans who were at a safe distance?"

A woman among n, who was wearing black-rimd eyeglasses stood up and asked boldly.

"Madam Hunter, that is the sa question we are asking. The animals who attacked retreated quickly and the devastation they left behind was so great that the best hunters in the village did not have ti to catch them." Governor Peterson continued.

He scanned everyone attending the conference before dropping the bombshell for everyone to hear.
