Chapter 284: Star Gazing

Amaya used her hands as a pillow and directed her gaze to the two stars below Polaris.

"I did not regret it. I got to know my parent’s family and I t new friends. I just feel that I am exhausted." Amaya sighed. "I want to start working on my new jewelry design but I have no ti. I want to concoct dicinal plants but I also don’t have ti."

Marx cast a sideway glance at her. He suddenly had the urge to gather her in his arms to comfort her. He sat down and looked at Amaya tenderly.

"I watched a docuntary about young children who were inflicted with cancer and leukemia. They are so young and my heart ached to see so of them die."

"The father of one of the children featured in that show reminded

of my Daddy. He would do everything in his power just so his son can be cured."

Amaya tilted her head and looked at Marx hopefully.

"Maybe the dicinal component of Milagrosa can heal them. That miraculous plant seed to trigger the rapid regeneration of cells that can aid in the healing process. I just need ti to experint."

"You don’t need to do everything on your own, Aya. You can have people do things for you." Marx’s voice was very gentle. It was like a breeze on a morning in spring. "I’ll introduce you to an expert in traditional dicine. One of our subsidiaries specializes in pharmaceuticals. I discussed this with my father and my grandpa, and they agreed to open a research facility here.

"We can work on another partnership, Aya."

"Really?"

Amaya shifted her body to face Marx. She propped herself on her right elbow as she smiled at him.

"You can teach our researchers about the properties of Milagrosa and the different formulations you use for each type of illness."

"How about scents? Do Skylar Pharmaceuticals research on scents as well?"

"Yes, it does. Sit down." Marx reached out his hand to help her up.

Amaya rose from the lounge chair and sat down opposite Marx. Their knees were touching each other.

"I will ask my lawyer to draft a contract. You don’t have to worry about anything. I’ll take care of it." Marx said dotingly.

Amaya looked at him with adoring clear and bright eyes.

"You are so good to , Marx. I am so lucky that it was you who crashed on that island."

Marx entrapped both of her hands into his big ones.

"Aya, you are my woman and I am your man. Helping you and keeping you safe is what I should do." Marx stared into her eyes which appeared darker because of the dim light in the viewing deck.

Amaya stared back at him, srized by the swirling of the blue ocean in his eyes. Her heartbeat started racing.

Marx held her gaze. He felt that his soul was being sucked into those two amber orbs of hers.

"Aya," he spoke hoarsely. "Don’t ever look at another man like this. You should only look at

like this." Then he gently cupped her chin with his hands and brought his face closer to hers.

Her long and thick eyelashes fluttered as she blinked. Her lips, which beca even fuller after she turned eighteen slightly parted as if she wanted to say sothing.

"What? I don’t understand, Marx."

"You looked beautiful tonight, Aya. You’re making

crazy." Marx groaned. He lowered his head and tasted her lips once again.

Marx kissed her gently for a long ti. He only released her lips when they were both panting for air.

Amaya laid back on the lounge chair. Marx continued to sit down and studied her so he noticed when Amaya’s relaxed expression turned into sothing solemn.

"If I had known that Daddy was sick at that ti, I should have insisted that he drunk a concoction of milagrosa. Then I would know if milagrosa is effective even for internal injuries or sickness." Amaya sighed.

She gazed back at the vastness of the universe, her eyes focused on nothing.

"Daddy intentionally did not tell

that he was not feeling well. I guess he wanted to be with Mommy. Maybe his ailnt was related to his heart." Amaya could only speculate.

"I read your Daddy’s journal. He thought he was about to die when he was bitten by a scorpion and he was so scared at that ti. You were not even four then. He vowed that he would fight death until the ti that you can face the world on your own." Marx tried to comfort her.

"But I am still sad that he left ." Amaya squinted her eyes to get a good view of the two stars.

Marx’s heart ached for her. He did not understand what triggered the negative vibe in her. It looked like she was really exhausted. A thought ca to him.

"Your father’s subordinate in the military wanted to et with . He visited the museum in Lireya and he thought of handing over your father’s belongings that he kept to the museum. Would you like to co?"

Amaya sat down on the lounge chair excitedly.

"Yes, of course." She sounded so cheerful that the discomfort in Marx’s heart was dispelled.

"Your Daddy is well loved by his subordinates and even his superior." His eyes glinted like that of an avid fan.

"Of course, my Daddy is the best!"

"There are a lot of things that you don’t know about your Daddy. If you do, then you will be even more proud. Ibrahim Rocas was indeed one of a kind."

"Why do I feel that you want to snatch my father?" Amaya glared at him accusingly.

Marx chuckled.

"How can I snatch him? Your father will be my father-in-law. So how can I snatch soone who will be my father as mandated by the law? Besides, I am a fan of Ibrahim Rocas."

Amaya blinked and then she looked at Marx blankly. For a mont, she did not make a sense of what Marx was saying. Then, she rembered that it was Marx who arranged for her father’s museum. He even built a replica back in Usturia.

She was facing a die-hard fan of Ibrahim Rocas.
