Chapter 257: Shaless!

"If you don’t want to sell that, then maybe you could gift it to ?"

Marx pursed his lips. The General was really thick-skinned and shaless!.

"I am sorry, General. This horse is not for sale." Marx said politely. He maintained a smile on his face.

"These are male and female horses. I wanted to breed them so I could not give it away." Amaya interjected. She felt that Marx would break down if he continued to speak with the general.

The general cursed silently. How dare he refuse a general? He is just a re bodyguard! The general tried to maintain an expressionless face. A princess was still standing in front of him and he could not show the fact that he wanted the horse badly.

"Princess, you must be tired. Please take a rest in the tent. We will escort you back to the hunting ground tomorrow." General Maza said in a respectful tone. His gaze was fixed on the little cub that Amaya was holding.

"Thank you, General. I will take a rest now." Amaya handed Artemis’ rope to Vasquez and entered her tent.

Vaszques tied all three horses to the tree nearest them. The general’s covetous gaze lingered on Apollo’s majestic appearance. If he could ride that horse then he would be the proudest person in Ra-Iya’s defence council.

Marx stood guard outside the tent. He pretended to focus on watching the tent but he was secretly sizing up the general. He took note of the covetous gaze the general threw at his horse. Marx clenched his fists. The general looked respectable but who would know that he could harbor the thought of getting the white horse?

There were too many soldiers tonight and he did not want them guarding Amaya. He regretted coming over. But it was too late. There was no more ti for him to regret.

"Boss, you can sleep first. I’ll watch over you." Vasquez looked at the two newly pitched tents. It was good the tent was placed side by side so he could guard both entrances at the sa ti.

Marx was actually tired. He was grateful that a tent was prepared for them. He crawled inside the tent. The mont his head touched the sleeping bag, he was fast asleep.

"Boss... Boss.." Vasquez called softly. There was no response from inside the tent. Marx was fast asleep.

Vasquez placed his ’precious’ backpack inside the tent assigned to them. Then he hurried back to his post.

The general approached him.

"We looked for you the whole day today but did not find you. Where did you guys go?" The general started interrogating.

"We were just around the foot of the mountain. We dare not venture deeper into the mountain." Vaquez started recounting the story that Marx agreed upon.

"How co we did not find any traces of you?" The general continued to probe.

"The mountain is very big, General. It is not unbelievable that you did not find us." Vasquez tried his best to speak normally.

"Hmmm." The general answered with a hum. It also agreed with his logic. He concluded that the people around the princess were very reliable. If not, how could they get out alive from Mount Paraiso?

"Did you encounter so weird things in the forest?" The general continued with his interrogation.

Vasquez thought for a while. He understood that the general was gleaning information from him.

"We encountered spiders as big as the size of a fist. We also encountered a huge snake. Is that wou an by us encountering weird things?"

"Yes. We also encountered spiders. The spiders killed a few of my troops. The spiders are very poisonous and cunning. I am glad that you were able to escape from them. But how did you get rid of them?" The general was curious.

"Princess Amaya grew up in the jungle. She was the one who always saved us." Vasquez knew that he could not tell the general that they had a laser gun.

"Earlier we saw a blue beam shoot up to the sky. It was from your coordinate."

"I did not see any blue beam at all. We were attacked by a wolf but we managed to kill it using our guns."

General Maza sized up Vasquez. His was very bulky and his muscles looked very hard. He must be good at martial arts.

"You looked very tired. Why don’t you go and sleep? My soldiers can keep watch."

"Thank you, General. It is my turn to keep watch and I would renege on my duty if I go to sleep."

The General did not continue to persuade him. He is not his people, after all, so he would not be bothered whether he slept or not.

Early the following morning the soldiers eat their rations. General Maza invited Amaya to join him at a portable table that was set up in the middle of the camp. A few soldiers managed to catch a boar and they roasted the at for breakfast.

Amaya ate the remaining ready-to-eat al that Marx passed to her. General Maza was surprised to see such packed food. It was not sothing that ca from Lireya.

"That ready-to-eat food, is that from a product of Lireya?" The general asked. He was interested in the food. It was packaged really well and it looked like it was freshly cooked.

"This is not from Lireya. This ca from my bodyguard. I think this was purchased from Usturia." Amaya did not think much about it and answered truthfully.

"Can you call your bodyguard?"

Amaya frowned. She called Marx over.

"Yes, Princess? Do you need sothing?"

"General Maza is interested in this ready-to-eat food pack. I told him that this was from you."

Marx gritted his teeth.

"This is a food pack used by the military when they go on missions," Marx explained.

"Can you tell

where you ordered such a useful food pack? My n will not suffer especially when we go on long missions if we have these."
