"What do you an?"

As Betty asked this question, her eyes moved to the left, focusing on the screen that showed what was happening in the four corners of the van.

Behind , Farak who had been intensely typing on his keyboard, reached a hand under the desk, pressing a button and grabbing a gun.

With short dark hair and black glasses, he continued idly tapping keys, but his eyes were fixed on Betty, most likely waiting for a signal from her.

At the front was Diego, and in tandem with the rest of his team, he tightened his grip on a gun that had been beside him since the beginning of the drive.

"I an we've been spotted and are already being pursued.

We need to find sowhere with cover so we can park the van and escape on foot or you can step on the gas a lot harder until we get caught.

Personally, though, I like the second option."

Betty frowned, but before she could say a word, Farak spoke from behind.

"Enemies at six o'clock."

His words snapped Betty's attention back to the screen.

The blonde female's eyes widened at the bizarre sight on the monitor. Reacting imdiately, she picked up the phone on the desk and gave an order.

"Diego, drive faster, full speed!"

Confident in my strength and ability to withstand what was coming, I smiled at Betty's choice of action.

"What are those?" the female asked, pointing at the screen.

"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that question?"

"You discovered them first."

"On your computer. Your skills beco questionable when I am the one detecting anomalies on it before its owner."

Understanding that she wouldn't be getting anything out of , Betty turned to Farak.

I was still interested in what the woman had to say, but the witches clearly thought they'd pursued us enough and made their move.

The van suddenly swerved hard to the left, throwing every loose item in the back to the side. A loud slam followed as Farak flew from his seat and crashed into one of the screens.

"Boom!!"

An explosion sounded from outside, deafening our ears for a second.

Given the situation we had driven into, the fact that this little surprise had caught Farak off guard and left him like that didn't leave with much hope of him seeing today's sunrise.

Using mind vision, I clearly saw Farak who had crashed head-first, then moved my focus to the driver, who was struggling to keep the van steady and still speeding forward.

Standing to her feet, Betty moved to check on Farak, her eyes on the screens, which were still flickering with images.

"I can't see anything," she said.

Indeed, while the monitors showing the four corners of the van still worked, the feeds for the back and left sides had gone black.

Betty had beco blind to the situation around her, but I was still fully aware. And I knew what had hit us wasn't a large fireball like I would have expected, but rather a rocket.

Behind us were won seated on long, traditional brooms that floated in the air. On the shoulders of so of these won were rocket launchers.

"Whoever said science doesn't have a place in mysticism?" I muttered.

"How shielded is this van?" I swerved in my chair and turned to Betty, who was bandaging Farak's bleeding head.

"Excuse ?" Betty looked confused.

"The van, does it have any protection against bullets?" I asked, already rising to my feet and rapping my knuckles against the vehicle's body.

"It has so padding," Betty answered.

"I see. Wait here."

"Hey! What are you doing? Stop!" Betty called out urgently as she saw my next move.

I walked to the back of the van and began pulling at the several bolts locking it.

I ignored Betty's cry from behind. When I pushed the double doors open, letting the rush of wind and the darkness outside into view, I placed a hand on the edge of the roof and pulled myself up, putting enough strength in my arms to flip onto the top of the van.

Landing on my feet, I kept a calm expression as I looked up at the group pursuing us. They numbered about seven, following behind like bees.

My sudden appearance caused surprise to flash across their beautiful faces, but I showed them no courtesy. I brought my hands from behind , raised them, and pulled the triggers of the twin guns they held.

"I have infinite bullets, bitches."

My first two shots imdiately took down two of the hat-wearing females. While the others quickly scattered in the air, trying to put space between each other and beco harder targets, I still had bullets to throw their way.

One of the witches I took down had been carrying a grenade launcher, but there were still three other won with the modern equipnt, and they did not hesitate to unleash their payloads.

Bang!!

Bang!!

At a distance, they were unpredictable and hard to hit, but once they got closer, my bullets found their marks. All three were struck, and while the remaining won foolishly reloaded mid-air while still pursuing , I put a few more holes in them.

"Truly rookies."

From the mont I had spotted them until now, every single action taken by this group of witches scread cannon fodder.

Not even one of them had an invisible barrier or a spell book. Bettany had truly been a cut above the rest.

Not even three minutes passed before I returned to the van and took slight pleasure in the impressed look on Betty's face.

"You're really good," she praised, but then her gaze shifted to my now-empty hands.

"Where are the guns you used?"

"That's a mystery. Tell Diego to stop the van, let's get off. It's loud, and we'll be found again soon."

Nodding, Betty quickly relayed the order to Diego, then turned back to .

"You didn't use the monitors to find out we were being pursued."

"Is that a question or an accusation?"

"A fact."
