Quick Transmigration Cannon Fodder's Record of Counterattacks Chapter 3192: Whether Someone Was Good or Bad
The gall of him to call Marquis Xuanping’s household the bad guys.
But what could one say? Whether soone was good or bad depended entirely on subjective judgnt and pure idealism.
Ning Shu said, “My lord, if there’s nothing else, I must take my leave.”
After saying that, she turned and walked away.
Ning Shu went to entertain the other noble young ladies. They chatted together as though nothing unpleasant had just happened. Laughter and conversation filled the air, and Ning Shu caught sight of Zhuo Cheran leaving out of the corner of her eye.
She silently let out a breath of relief. The matter with the system was resolved, for now. Next, she would have to deal with Marquis Xuanping’s household’s matter.
After the banquet, the noble ladies who had attended all made polite gestures.
Ning Shu rubbed her shoulders as she returned to Marquis Xuanping’s residence.
As soon as she arrived, Mada Rongguo summoned her for a scolding. Sothing like that happening at the banquet had brought disgrace upon the entire household.
“I told you to spend more ti with the ladies of Prince Xin’s household. And yet such a thing happened at the banquet. What will people think of you?”
Without changing expression, Ning Shu replied, “It was Prince Xin’s household that was at fault this ti. Mother, you certainly know what happened. It was a signal.”
“I think Father should stop placing his hopes in Prince Xin’s household.”
Mada Rongguo’s eyebrows furrowed tightly. “But Zhuo Cheran is your betrothed. How could he do sothing like this?”
“At court, they demanded our household hand over five million taels. It’s clearly a move against us. If we refuse, His Majesty will certainly be displeased.
“And this is only the beginning.”
Mada Rongguo rubbed her temples. “I truly cannot understand why he would do this. Even if it’s because of that Miss Yin… in terms of family background, appearance, manners—you surpass her in every way.”
Ning Shu remained silent.
“Or… is it that he intends to take Miss Yin as a concubine?” Mada Rongguo muttered, but then fell quiet. No man would sacrifice his proper in-laws for the sake of a concubine.
Mada Rongguo could not make sense of it. Finally, she sighed and said to Ning Shu, “You must be tired. Go and rest.”
It seed she planned to discuss the matter with her husband later.
Ning Shu curtsied and said, “Mother, please rest well.”
As she left Mada Rongguo’s courtyard, Ning Shu stretched her neck and noticed Gu Fanlu reading in the pavilion. She deliberately avoided him. With such an outsider living in the house, everything felt inconvenient.
They would have to wait until his residence was ready before he could move out. That wouldn’t be a matter of just a day or two.
How shaless, to live under soone else’s roof for so long.
Ning Shu couldn’t help but feel suspicious of Gu Fanlu. Back in her own courtyard, she told Lianqiao, “Go find out what Gu Fanlu does every day.”
“Miss, why do you want to inquire about Young Master Gu’s activities?” Lianqiao asked in confusion.
Ning Shu said flatly, “Just do it.”
Lianqiao nodded and left.
Ning Shu stroked her chin as she thought. If Gu Fanlu truly harbored ill intent, then perhaps he should ‘fall ill’ for a while.
He was newly arrived in the capital, and if he suffered from acclimatization and illness, that’d be perfectly normal.
She chuckled darkly. If Rabbit Gu were a good rabbit, she would never waste her ti hunting it down.
However, talented people who looked innocent on the outside but were dark within were far too much like Zhuo Cheran’s kind for her liking.
Ning Shu sat cross-legged on the bed and began cultivating. With strength, even if she ultimately couldn’t control how things unfolded, she could at least save a few more people and protect herself.
