"I had Mrs. Wilson make you so light food. She said you’ve been sleeping all day, and it’s not good for you. How about I take you out for a walk nearby?"
"I don’t feel like moving."
She had no energy left at all.
Lucas’s fingers curled, gently brushing her nose.
He had things he wanted to ask her, but now she looked like a sick little kitten, and any frustration he had just lted away.
Lucas pulled her out of the blankets, but Sophia naturally flopped back down.
Lucas hadn’t even left yet, and when he turned around, he saw she had collapsed again.
He pulled her back up, but...
Sophia playfully flopped back down again.
"If you don’t get up, I won’t mind letting you stay in bed for another two days."
She stared at him in disbelief, "Lucas, are you a freak?"
"I wouldn’t mind showing you just how much of a freak I can be."
Sophia’s sense of injustice grew, and she spread her arms out, "Go ahead, if you can make move, I’ll admit I lost!"
"Physical work? I’ll do it, don’t worry."
Sophia’s tears imdiately started falling.
Lucas brought over her clothes and froze. "Sophia, you..."
"I’m a patient! How can you bully like this? There’s no justice!"
Sophia cried, her sobs coming in gasps.
Every ti Lucas tried to help, she scread louder.
The kids, who had been eavesdropping by the door, couldn’t help but want to rush in.
"Wait, don’t go in yet. Mommy gets really dependent when she’s sick, and she’s probably feeling really upset."
Angela stopped her younger siblings, then sighed.
They had seen their mommy sick twice after they were born.
The first ti was when Aunt Harper was here, and Mommy was super dependent on her, even on them, acting cute in front of the babies.
Inside,
Lucas was at his wit’s end. "I’m sorry, can you stop crying now?"
"You’re bullying ! I want to go ho, I want to go ho!"
"Okay, okay, we’ll go ho. I’ll take you back to Silver Lake Villa."
Sophia glared at him, and her voice only got louder.
"What do you an, ’go ho’? You just want to kick out!"
She rolled over, clutching the blanket. "I’m not going anywhere! You can dream on! You’ll have to send the bed and together!"
Lucas couldn’t help but laugh.
"I don’t want to kick you out. How about we go downstairs for a walk?"
"No, I’m tired."
"I can help you."
"No, I’m still tired."
Sophia was adamant about not getting out of bed.
Lucas’s expression grew increasingly dangerous.
Suddenly!
Sophia felt a tightness around her waist as Lucas effortlessly lifted her off the bed!
"Lucas, what are you doing? Let go!"
Sophia struggled with all her might, but he simply pinned her against the door.
He tried to get her to stand, but she was like a limp ragdoll, collapsing back down as soon as he let go.
"Sophia, stand up. I’m going to help you get dressed."
"No."
"Be good, and I’ll buy you sothing yummy later."
"No."
The veins on Lucas’s forehead popped as he forced her against the wall, putting a coat on her.
Sophia cried again, slumping down and screaming at the top of her lungs. "I’m a patient! I’m a patient! You’re forcing ! I’m so sad—I’m so upset..."
Whenever Sophia was sick, she would inexplicably feel like she was being terribly mistreated over the smallest things.
Lucas took a deep breath, trying to pull her up, but she clung to his leg, refusing to let go.
As soon as the door opened, the six children outside, standing in a row, stared in shock at Sophia, who was clutching Lucas’s leg.
Lucas struggled to move his leg but managed to drag her out.
In that position, he spoke slowly, "Sophia, get up. I won’t force you to go out."
"You’re trying to trick , but I’m not falling for it!"
"With your six kids vouching for , I promise I won’t lie to you. How about it?"
Sophia, feeling wronged, stared at her kids for a long ti before slowly loosening her grip.
Suddenly!
In a flash, Lucas scooped her up, holding her firmly like a child.
Sophia wrapped her legs around his waist, clinging to him like a koala, refusing to move.
"You tricked again!"
"I didn’t trick you. I’m just taking you out for a walk."
She’d been lying in bed for so long, not getting any sunlight, that her body’s functions had slowed down.
All she wanted to do was sleep, but if she didn’t get up and move, she’d probably end up with a prolonged fever.
Lucas carried her downstairs, and when they stepped into the sunlight, her head buried into his shoulder. "Ugh! The sun’s going to roast !"
Lucas, drenched in sweat, shook his head.
"Getting all picky after getting what you wanted? Co on, let’s walk."
"No!"
Sophia ignored him, staying wrapped in her blanket.
Lucas, helpless, could only walk her around the yard under the sun for a few laps.
Suddenly, Lucas furrowed his brows, watching a car slowly drive into the yard.
The mont Aiden saw him, a smug smile appeared on his face.
"Lucas, what’s going on with you and Sophia?"
Sophia peeked out from under the blanket, glancing at him before saying in disgust, "The old man is here."
Aiden’s smile faltered. "Lucas, you and Sophia are still young. It’s normal to have so fun."
Lucas, his tone icy, replied, "Uncle, I just got back, and you’re already here. Looks like you have so good sources of information."
"Well, I’m your uncle, of course I care about you."
"You’re getting bolder with your words. Care about ? I heard you were looking for my company seal at the office and ca back empty-handed. Now you’re trying to ask directly?"
Aiden laughed it off, seemingly unconcerned about the earlier events. "You really don’t understand . I’m just trying to look out for you."
"And about Richard—didn’t he say he was getting married? Why hasn’t that happened yet? How long do we have to wait?"
Richard had been talking about marriage for a while now, but nothing had been done. It was probably going to end up as an empty promise.
"I’m doing this to help you too, Lucas. I’ve found soone in JL Films who’s worth promoting."
Lucas’s eyelid twitched.
"You actually know her. It’s Olivia, the youngest daughter of the Morgan Family. She’s grown into quite a beauty, and most importantly, she’s obedient. You know, I hold shares in the company, so I believe you’ll agree with the decisions I make."
Lucas didn’t notice any reaction from Sophia in his arms and sighed with relief.
He turned his cold gaze back to Aiden. "You only hold 10% of the shares. I’m the one with 60%. Uncle, are you starting to forget your place?"
