Sophia turned to leave, but the person behind her suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Olivia lifted her hand high, a slap about to land.
Sophia dodged back and imdiately raised her own hand to strike back—but just as it was about to hit Olivia’s face, it froze in mid-air.
Olivia’s heart tightened. She tilted her head slightly; Sophia’s hand was only a hair’s breadth from her cheek.
"You—"
"I don’t ever want to see sothing like this happen again. I’m not hitting you—not because I pity you, but because I think you’re too stupid to be worth the effort. Ethan only needs to say two sentences and you’re completely fooled. Honestly, it’s just one willing to hit and one willing to take it."
She threw Olivia’s hand aside and continued, "The grudge between us is far from over, but I prefer to use other thods to get my revenge. I’m Sophia—I don’t change my na, and I don’t deny what I’ve done. What I haven’t done, I absolutely won’t admit to. With that tiny IQ of yours, you’d better spend your ti figuring out who’s actually setting you up."
She curled her lips, turned around, and walked off, leaving Olivia standing there alone.
A chill ran through Olivia’s chest.
Sophia’s aning was clear—the culprit wasn’t her. The person who orchestrated everything was soone else. And besides Sophia, the only person she could suspect was Ethan.
She clenched her fists, wrapped her scarf tightly around herself, and hurried away. But she had barely taken a few steps when—
A hand yanked her to the side.
Just as Olivia was about to scream, a familiar, teasing voice sounded behind her.
"Don’t tell you can’t even recognize my voice now?"
It was Aiden.
"What are you doing here?"
"I saw everything online. I ca specifically to find you—and to bring you the gift I promised last ti."
He pulled out a jewelry box. Inside, the necklace glead beautifully. Olivia’s eyes flickered, and she smiled.
"This isn’t the place to talk. Co on."
An hour later, inside a luxury hotel suite, breathless sounds filled the air—then slowly quieted, leaving only soft panting.
"Baby, you just get more irresistible every ti. Letting that bastard Ethan have you... I really do feel wronged on my part."
Olivia shot him a weak sideways look, her eyes lifting seductively. Her smooth, porcelain arm hooked around his neck as she smiled.
"Aren’t I with you right now? Isn’t that enough for you?"
Aiden laughed, the fine lines at the corners of his eyes creasing together.
He rolled onto his back, catching his breath.
"So what’s going on? How did you two end up on the hot search again?"
"No idea. Today I even thought it was Sophia and went to confront her myself—you must’ve seen the result."
"Sweetheart, Ethan doesn’t look like soone easy to control. And behind him is that old fox, Thomas. I used to deal with him—he’s devious, calculating, and he’ll do anything to get what he wants."
Olivia frowned. Thomas had never liked her.
But when he heard she was going to marry Ethan, he didn’t show much expression. Instead, he looked at her with sympathy and even promised that he would get her parents out.
Thinking back, what Sophia said wasn’t entirely unreasonable.
Sophia definitely had other ways to fight her. She didn’t need to resort to sothing this sloppy.
"Baby, want to help you?"
Aiden’s tone was overly warm.
Olivia chuckled and wrapped her arms around him, voice playful.
"If you can help , of course that’d be great. But right now, the trending topic won’t die down."
"If you want it gone, it can be gone. But stop being so naïve. Ethan—you really need to watch out for him. There’s a good chance he’s coming after the Morgan Group."
Morgan Group had been running entirely on Paul’s shoulders lately. He had even poured in his own life savings just to keep the company operating normally.
A while back, Olivia also threw every spare cent she had into the company to help it survive the crisis.
Aiden tapped the tip of her nose. "You just don’t listen."
"I’m going to marry Ethan. What—do you have a problem with that?"
"Of course I do. You were supposed to belong to alone."
Hearing that, Olivia lazily went along with him.
"I don’t have to marry him. I could be yours, and only yours."
Aiden’s hand slid along her waist. She continued, "As long as you divorce Julia—and marry ."
Aiden’s eyes darkened.
"Sweetheart, that’s not sothing you can say out loud."
"Tch. I knew it. You’re just feeding pretty words to string along. What storms haven’t I weathered? Aiden, your tricks don’t work on ."
"Sweetheart..."
"Alright, enough. We’re done for today. Tonight, I’m going to pay Thomas a visit."
She wrapped the blanket around herself and got out of bed without hesitation.
Aiden watched her back as she left, dazed.
If he could actually marry her, wouldn’t he be drowning in bliss every single day?
But they had no idea—
Across from their hotel, on the top floor of the tallest building, Sophia stood with a telescope in her hands. Beside her, Lucas let out a short laugh.
"You brought here... to watch them?"
"Your dear uncle is the biggest troublemaker in the middle of all this. I figured you should at least see his true colors, don’t you think?"
Sophia spoke softly, his arms wrapped snugly around her waist.
Lucas rested his chin on her shoulder and asked gently, "When did you figure it out?"
"I’ve known for a while. Besides, based on Aiden’s personality, he should be terrified of your aunt—yet he fell headfirst under Olivia’s skirt. Shows you how dangerous young won can be to certain old n. Since I caught your uncle red-handed, how are you planning to thank ?"
Aiden was still working at Hilton Group, and Lucas had been slowly collecting reasons to force him out when the ti was right.
His parents were away traveling; if they got wind of this, things would get ssy fast.
"How about I put a bow on myself and gift myself to you?"
Sophia gave him a glare. "Forget it. I don’t want that."
Lucas looked gentlemanly on the outside—but in reality, he was a wolf. No one could survive that kind of enthusiasm.
"Baby, why don’t you reconsider that idea of rging Hilton Group and YL?"
"Absolutely not. Yesterday Olivia ca to and said my mother might still be alive. I don’t know if it’s true, but I’ve already sent people out to search. If she’s alive... it would be a good thing."
She still couldn’t understand it—
How could soone who was dead... suddenly appear again?
"I sent people too. Don’t worry. If she’s anywhere in City A—whether she just looks like her or actually is her—I’ll find her."
Sophia nodded.
But plans never keep up with unexpected changes.
That afternoon, just as she returned to the company, Alia rushed over carrying a small box.
"Morgan President, a woman left this at the front desk. I’m not sure what it is."
"Just leave it."
She opened the box—and froze on the spot.
